1:31 pm
weather in windsor, blue skies overhead, how is shaping up for the big day tomorrow? it is staying a little bit like this. it is looking dry, some warm sunshine on officers unpleasant conditions, light winds around, too and that is the story across much of the country through the weekend as well. this afternoon, we have dry weather out there across the board with just a little bit of rain in the far north—west of scotla nd rain in the far north—west of scotland where it is cloudier. right across england and wales there is just a little fairweather cloud around but not spoiling the sunshine and those temperatures 17—19, a little bit cooler around the east coast where we see some of those sea breezes developing, too. it is set fair this evening, some late sunshine to be enjoyed for many parts of the country. powder in the far north—west of scotland and northern ireland but with a bob skies overnight and light winds, too, it is a recipe for a chilly night. in rural spots, temperatures
1:32 pm
get close to freezing with towns and cities around 2—iod first thing saturday morning but it is a big area of high pressure that is driving our weather over the next few days. it won't be particularly windy, either. after the chilly start to saturday morning, the weather is looking decent. any early cloud should lift and clear leaving lots of sunshine. temperatures around 21 in the afternoon which will feel very pleasant. dry through the morning for much of southern england with the odd misty and murky patch. the rest of the country is looking dry fine. there will be a bit more breeze to the far north—west of scotland and western parts of northern ireland, too, but wherever you are, it'll be a dry day and temperatures tomorrow probably a degree or so and temperatures tomorrow probably a degree 01’ so warmer and temperatures tomorrow probably a degree or so warmer than today so highs of about 19—21, should feel very pleasant. a little bit more of

a breeze developing around the coast but whatever your plans are, it is looking lovely. for the fa cup final and the scottish cup final the weather is looking decent, too. that late sunshine holes on overnight into sunday. a little bit more cloud in the north—west on sunday, beautiful sunshine for much of the country and the excitement not the anything building with temperatures on the rise here, too. thank you very much. a reminder of our main story this lunchtime. the prince of wales will step in for meghan markle's father and walk her down the aisle during her wedding to prince harry tomorrow. that's all from the bbc news at one so it's goodbye from me and on bbc one we nowjoin the bbc‘s news teams where you are. have a good afternoon. good afternoon.

the royal wedding not the only significant date in the diary this weekend as wembley hosts the fa cup final. manchester united looking to equal arsenal's record of 13 cup triumphs, if they can overcome chelsea. jose mouinho‘s side have faced criticim for their failure to enteratin at times this season, the manager though adopting a more pragmatic approach in the lead up to tomorrow's showpiece. still don't understand th about i still don't understand these words about entertaining. do you think 6—0 is entertaining? if you win, yes. i don't think it is entertaining. i think entertaining is emotional until the end, is an open result until the end, is an open result until the end, is an open result until the end. has everybody on their seats until the end. it is

both nervous and tents with the unpredictability of the results. that, for me, as a football lover, not as a manager, but as a football lover, for me, that is entertaining. it's not the only piece of silverware up for grabs, celtic chasing a domestic treble, for a second season in a row by adding the scottich cup to their scottish premiership and league cup successes. motherwell their opponents chasing a treble of their own at hampden park. it would be beyond my wildest dreams, iget it would be beyond my wildest dreams, i get emotional thinking about it. we won it in 1952 and 1991 so about it. we won it in 1952 and 1991 so it is a once—in—a—lifetime thing, it is not a generation thing, it is a once—in—a—lifetime thing. goalkeeperjoe hart has followed jack wilshere in expressing his disappointment

at missing out on selection in gareth southgate's england squad, calling his exclusion gutting. the pair are two notable absentees from the 23 man shortlist. posting on instagram this morning he said not going to lie, i'm gutted. after two years of trying to make the most of a really tough situation, this is hard to take. i'm proud to have put in the graft and play every minute to qualify with the team and have a really important input in that outcome. this is what garteh southgate had to say about the exclusion of both players. joe has played a big part in england's matches and has been a valued member of the squad. but in the end i have to look at the performances over the course of the last 18 months with the players' clu bs. last 18 months with the players' clubs. various things go in your
1:37 pm
mind when you are picking a team and your squad. in the end the three lads we have picked have been detry best english goalkeepers in the league this year. jack, i thought had a good spell in the lead up to christmas and just after. i think, not as effective towards the end of the season and we think the other quys the season and we think the other guys have played very well and deserved their place in the squad. swansea have confirmed that manager carlos carvalhal has left the club after five months in charge. the welsh side were relegated from the premier league on the last day of the season. swansea are now looking for a fifth permanent manager in two years. wigan warriors have signed former castleford tigers full—back zak hardaker on a four—year deal. the england international is serving a suspension after testing positive for cocaine in 2017. he'lljoin the warriors when his 1a—month ban ends in november. that's all the sport for now. you can find more on all those stories on the bbc sport website. plenty of build—up to the fa cup

final, where, as we know prince william won't be in attendance because of far pressing matters elsewhere. more now on our main story and prince charles will walk meghan markle down the aisle when she marries prince harry tomorrow. the bride's father, thomas won't be at windsor castle because of health problems. but prince phillip is going to attend. my colleague simon mccoy is in windsorfor us. whilst the world's eyes are on windsor castle behind me and the big day tomorrow, it is a big day for a lot of other couples. another couple getting married isjosh barber and isabel greenwood. theyjoin getting married isjosh barber and isabel greenwood. they join me getting married isjosh barber and isabel greenwood. theyjoin me from birmingham. the one thing you will be sharing along with meghan and harry, is a bit of nerves, how are you feeling? not too bad, the butterflies have started to kick in, other than that, it has been ok.
1:39 pm
yes, not too bad. you had set this date before they did, did you? yes, definitely. we set the date and as soon as they announced it we just knew they would pick the 19th of may. of all the data could be. what time are you getting married? 1pm tomorrow afternoon. this will all be over by then. i am going to ask you a question, will you have a television anywhere near you are tomorrow afternoon?|j television anywhere near you are tomorrow afternoon? i will be watching it when i am getting ready. ijoked about watching it when i am getting ready. i joked about had watching it when i am getting ready. ijoked about had having won at the service but will tell we were not alive. you have been together for two and a half years, what advice would you give these two who have been together not quite as long as that, but what do you make of the
1:40 pm
interview they gave, what do you think of them as a young couple? what a question. what a question, what do we know? big—time, have lots of fun. choosing each other, it is always going to be fun. you are on telly today, they are on telly tomorrow, but today is a day of what, calming yourself down, you two presumably will go your separate ways and not see each other until tomorrow? yes, that's it. we have been setting up the church this morning and then the reception venue this afternoon and we have our rehearsal today and then it is separate ways this evening and i will see isabel at 1pm tomorrow afternoon. yes. an early night for both of you, i wish you all the best for tomorrow. thank you. welljane hill is also in windsor, with under 2a hours before

the wedding ceremony. lets talk to two people at windsor castle who have enormous experience in some of the key elements on a royal wedding day. david emanuel designed the wedding dress of diana, princess of wales and emma sampson isa princess of wales and emma sampson is a florist and you worked on the royal wedding for william and cake. so huge experience. the two people involved this time around, the lady in charge of flowers, and who may have designed the dress, how nervous are they at this stage with 2a hours to go, or is it all sewn up? there isa to go, or is it all sewn up? there is a lot of movement for the flowers, bits of wriggle room with seasonality, freshness. but generally the plans are in place, they know what they are doing. there is obviously the moment they had to pull it all off, but they will be feeling pretty calm the stage, hopefully. thinking about the heat
1:42 pm
and the temperature and i realise people in your line of work think about back, but it is hotter today than anticipated and that has to be an issue? there will be some last—minute changes, perhaps some swa p last—minute changes, perhaps some swa [3 overs last—minute changes, perhaps some swap overs with the flowers, due to the heat but hopefully everything should hold and it will be looking fabulous. as far as the the rock is concerned, it should be finished! anything like diana's time, it should be delivered to clifton and the designer should be delivering the designer should be delivering the froch. ithink the designer should be delivering the froch. i think there will automatically have a room comic it will hang and rape, ready to address the bride tomorrow. will the bride to try it on one more time? no, it is done. a final fitting a couple of days before is enough. she's not going to change size that much. however nervous or confident, the fitting is done, it is a question of
1:43 pm
getting it delivered under cloak without anybody seeing anything. i rememberdoing diana's, without anybody seeing anything. i remember doing diana's, getting to clare nce remember doing diana's, getting to clarence house the day before in the back of an old truck nobody would recognise. getting out, the corgis everywhere in clarence house, getting to the allocated bedroom for diana and the bridesmaids. as we we re diana and the bridesmaids. as we were about to hang the wedding gown, there were workmen on the roof. i was responsible for closing the curtains in that room. i think the queen mother heard about it. did she? yes. that was in the days when there were no mobile phones and everybody having cameras outside. the last thing we wanted was a builder saying, it is ivory. how much do you think, where it is the balance between meghan markle saying this is what i want, this is my style, i know who i am, i
1:44 pm
this is what i want, this is my style, i know who i am, lam this is what i want, this is my style, i know who i am, i am 36 and i have my own sense of style? she is a woman in her own right, successful, a very successful actress. there are part of a lady's anatomy she wants to camouflage and other parts she is happy to show. it isa other parts she is happy to show. it is a working relationship. the fashion process now, ralph russo, she is american who knows, she could have an american designer. hello! she is marrying into the british royalfamily... she is marrying into the british royal family. .. because she is marrying into the british royal family, of course it should be british. in the history of royal brides, it is always british, british fabric and british designers. it has got to make a statement and it has got to be larger—than—life but also it has got to suit her. if she goes in as plain meghan markle, who knows, she is waiting for the title that the queen might bestow on them. quick thought,
1:45 pm
we might bestow on them. quick thought, we know from her social media accou nts we know from her social media accounts that she is no longer allowed to run, she has favourite flowers a nd allowed to run, she has favourite flowers and presumably would you expect that to play in what we see tomorrow? i think we will see a bit of colour in there. lily of the valley. a bit of lily of the valley, absolutely. the former russian spy sergei skripal has been discharged from hospital in salisbury. mr skripal and his daughter yulia were exposed to a nerve agent in march. he's been taken to a secure location where he will continue to receive treatment. salisbury district hospital confirmed that mr skripal is now entering an "important stage in his recovery" which will "take place away from the hospital". while these patients have now been discharged, their right to confidentiality remains and limits us confidentiality remains and limits us from giving detailed accounts of the treatments these individuals received. however, treating people who are so acutely unwell, having
1:46 pm
been poisoned by nerve agents requires stabilising them, keeping them alive until their bodies produce more enzymes to replace those that have been poisoned. it is fantastic news that sergei skripal is well enough to leave salisbury district hospital, that he, yulia and ds bailey have been able to leave us so soon after coming into contact with the nerve agent is thanks to the hard work, skill and professionalism of our clinicians, who, every day, deliver outstanding ca re who, every day, deliver outstanding care to all of our patients day in, day out. this has been a difficult time for those caught up in this incident, the patients, staff and the people of salisbury. i want to pay a special tribute to the public of salisbury for their support and pay billy mcclure say thanks to a clinical staff who have worked so ha rd clinical staff who have worked so hard and to the staff who have worked so hard behind the scenes to make this happen. this is the nhs working at its best. thank you. in a moment a summary of the business news

this hour but first, the headlines on bbc news: prince charles will walk meghan markle down the aisle tomorrow when she marries prince harry. the former russian spy, sergei skripal, has been discharged from hospital, more than two months after the nerve agent attack in salisbury. theresa may says she regards alleged remarks by speaker, john bercow, calling commons leader andrea leadsom a "stupid woman" as "unacceptable. year's facebook privacy row. it has listed assets in the range of $100 to $500,000 but liabilities in the range of $1m to $10 million. both it, and its british parent scl elections said earlier this month they'd suffered a sharp drop in business. paypal has bought izettle, a swedish mobile payments company that sells a card—reader aimed at small businesses. the price, £1.6 billion, makes it paypal‘s biggest ever take—over and allows the company to expand into bricks—and—mortar shops as well as online. we all know that the wedding industry is big business. the average wedding nowadays by some estimates costs £33,000. there were 227,000 of them last year. do the maths and that works out at £10 billion a year — that's all the champagne, the marquees, the lobster, the rolls royce, the lot. now add in one more very
1:49 pm
specific wedding, tomorrow, and that number goes up by one more billion. joining me now is david haigh, chief executive of brand finance. is the wedding tomorrow really going to generate £1 billion worth of business? how do you work it out? we are convinced it will be at least £1 billion, if not more. we have been very conservative in the numbers we have calculated. we have the incremental taurus, about 300,000 this year. incremental spend with people have parties. memorabilia sales, clothing and free media coverage worldwide, which is obviously going off the scale with the level of interest. does it generate other weddings as well?m
1:50 pm
the same way people look at britain and go, that looks great when they see all these things going on and decide to come for the holiday. that will happen throughout this year. i think the exactly the same thing will be happening with the weddings. when she showed her ring, the sales of rings that were identical leapt. i expect a few of those will get married and there will be a few more thousand weddings happening this year. we know when she shows of certain items of clothing, certain brands, we know they sell like hot ca kes ? brands, we know they sell like hot cakes? everything she wears, it is like the midas touch. several of the manufacturers have had to move factory to produce more. it is not just for the uk, the benefits, meghan markle is different from say kate in that she wears very different stuff and she has a different stuff and she has a different kind of appeal and a different kind of appeal and a different brand, doesn't she? different kind of appeal and a different brand, doesn't sham different kind of appeal and a different brand, doesn't she? it is fairto different brand, doesn't she? it is fair to say kate is conservative and
1:51 pm
has drifted to being more conservative as she has gone along. meghan is like a fashion statement and she wears interesting clothes like the younger generation. do you think it will last, i am talking about the brand, not the wedding! the brand survival depends on the wedding survival. does it really? there was famous wedding that didn't last, but somebody like david immanuel who dressed diana at that wedding did last. it does help if the wedding and the marriage is strong and there will be charitable fundraising and endorsements if they have a happy marriage. thank you.
