today at wembley stadium. manchester united are aiming for their third win in three years, while chelsea are hoping to put the disappointment of missing out on next season's champions league behind them. before the match, tribute was paid to ray wilkins who passed away earlier this year. his family are in attendance at wembley, and his wife jackie will hand the trophy to the winning captain at the conclusion of the game. wilkins played for both clubs, famously scoring in the fa cup final for manchester united, and was assistant manager for three of chelsea's fa cup victories. chelsea's eden hazard is putting his stamp all over this final. he was the first player to manage a shot on target afterjust ten minutes, but manchester united's david de gea was equal to it. chelsea felt they should have had a penalty soon after when nemanja matic made contact with tiemoue bakayoko. referee michael oliver waved away the appeals. but he gave the blues a spot kick

and philjones a yellow card when hazard was brought down. the belgian calmly put chelsea ahead in front of the manchester united fans. 1-0 to 1—0 to chelsea then. these are our live pictures from wembley. lots of talk beforehand was about the rivalry between the two managers. canjose mourinho secure another trophy at manchester united, and will this be antonio conte‘s last match in charge with speculation over his future? we are on the hour mark at the moment at wembley stadium. chelsea still 1—0 ahead. you can see all the action on bbc one. now to unprecedented success in scotland. the showpiece event north of the border took place too, with the scottish cup final between celtic and big underdogs motherwell. the match went as many would have predicted. a 2—0 win for celtic makes them the first scottish side to win

a treble of domestic trophies for a second successive season. chris mclaughlin reports from hampden park. well, celtic ordered a double trouble and here in the glasgow sunshine at hampden park it was duly delivered. they were the clear favourites at the start of the game and to be honest they never once looked like losing. what about this for a way to take the lead? callum mcgregor always finds a big goal on big games. a sensational strike after ten minutes. they doubled the lead midway through the first half as the roof threatened to fall in on motherwell. in the second half, the cross bar motherwell. in the second half, the crossbar prevented a fightback as scottish football was getting ready for history makers. even the referee and his assistant. then the party. a group of players used to celebrating

but this was unique. the question is, how did they topped this and who can possibly stop them? i'm so happy for everyone involved. the players, staff, supporters. it's an incredible achievement by everyone. i think we thoroughly deserved it. motherwell have had a great season, getting to two cup finals, stephen has done a brilliant job. but today i thought we were fantastic. we could have been more clinical with the last pass but the boys were absolutely brilliant and i'm so happy for everyone. i said to the players before the game, this is a chance for you to make your own history. we've had some brilliant achievements but to win today is going to live with you and the families for ever, and the supporters. it's the best feeling
6:35 pm
you could ever experience. look at these fans. 61—62 games this season and hampton has been a special place for us recently. we seem to be enjoying ourselves. the double trouble, i don't think anybody would have thought it was on the cards when the manager came in. it shows what hard work can get you. we got to go in and do it in the champions league next year. we've got to push on next year and make a lot of money for the champions league. there will bea for the champions league. there will be a few additions to the squad, i'm sure. italian giantsjuventus said a fond farewell to one of their greatest ever players, gianluigi buffon, today as he played his final home game for the club. the fans made their feeling known with the 2006 world cup winner given a rapturous reception before their match with chievo verona. buffon played his part, helping this year's serie a champions to a 2—1 win on the day. he didn't complete the match, though, given a guard

of honour from his teammates, as he was replaced in the second half. a sad moment for the fans and for his family as well, who watched on from the stands as a similarly tearful buffon waved fans goodbye before leading the trophy celebrations at the allianz stadium. to rugby union now, where the sport is building toward its own finale, in both the english premiership and the pro 14. the first of the play—off semifinals saw saracens dominate wasps, running out 57—33 winners to reach a fourth premiership final in five years. it was watched at allianz park by chrisjones. this will go down as one of the great premiership semifinals with saracens winning by an extraordinary 57-83. saracens winning by an extraordinary 57—83. they came storming out of the blocks and scored two tries. when chris wyles crossed narrowly into the second half, it looked like a

kicking, his attacking rugby, his physicality in defence making turnovers. he has got the all—round game. if you can do that in the final, it will go some way to securing the final. that's right, defending champions exeter are into next weekend's premiership final at twickenham by virtue of an equally impressive 36—5 win over newcastle falcons. alex gulrajani watched the action. running out as champions, would exit cheese bake it to? they haven't been this far since winning the title 20 yea rs this far since winning the title 20 years ago. the chances of another one started to slip away early. simple mistakes went punished by the referee. the scoreboard ticking over for the chiefs. there was more bad news for the falcons as scott wilson left the pitch injured. exeter made it count with the extra man making all the difference. the gap continued to grow with more

penalties until alex tait put newcastle finally on the board. for the next two plays, it is summed up their days. toby flood's conversion charge down and then take slipped up with a third try ready and waiting. exeter made no such errors and will be looking for the same again in the finale next weekend. in today's pro 14 semifinal there was an incredible close match between munster and leinster. jack conan gave leinster an early lead before good play from simon zebo allowed munster to reduce arrears through keith earls's score. two penalties from ross byrne and another from joey carbery gave leinster a healthy lead, meaning gerbrandt grobler‘s converted try was only consolation. as leinster took the match 16—15 to set up a meeting with the scarlets in next weekend's showpiece in dublin. also coming up in the programme...

leading for eight days and it was vital to attack one of the toughest climbs in europe. chris froome had to fight off spectators before challenging his rivals. a well timed spurt of pace left most of them behind but he still couldn't escape the fans or yates. a final lung bursting effort was enough to claim his first win in a stage on the giro. yates increased his ad vantage over the defending champion to almost a minute and a half. a britain could still win this race but not the one that everyone expected. british rider cal crutchlow has been taken to hospital for checks, after a worrying high side crash in qualifying for the french motogp. crutchlow, who is currently seventh in the world championship, was flung from his bike on a double right—hand bend. his lcr honda went sideways exiting the corner, and crutchlow landed awkwardly on his back.

medical assistance was quick to arrive, and he did give the crowd a thumbs—up before being placed in the back of an ambulance. if he's cleared to compete, he'll start tomorrow's race from 13th on the grid. it's rugby league's magic weekend — seven games over two days, all played at newcastle's st james' park, three games tomorrow and four today. kicking off the action, first versus second in the championship, a hat—trick of tries from liam kay helped the leaders, toronto wolfpack, beat toulouse 43—30. all a great advert for second—tier rugby league. apart from this. mark kerilla missed his conversion for toulouse, but both touch judges gave it, so the referee couldn't overrule them. it didn't affect the result in the end, though. then it was the turn of super league leaders st helens to put on a show for the crowd on tyneside. ben barba's try one of the highlights of a tight first half against widnes.
6:43 pm

6:44 pm
i remember everything for that hour. until we got help. it was not a berry nice thing to go through at that time. i didn't realise how bad my injuries were. obviously, i couldn't move but to see your daughter dying in front of your eyes and not be able to move or do anything, it's a vision that will stay with me for a long time. that's the hardest thing that i've still not really been able to get over. there's still a lot of trauma and emotion in there and hopefully it is one of the reasons i've done this race. as significant as the date is, i see it as closing this chapter. there's going to be a lot of emotion there but there's also a celebration because i'm alive and i have survived. to look at my body now, it's as strong and fit as it's ever been. yes, they've taken my legs but
6:45 pm
they're not going to invite manchester and split ours. were all going to be stronger and better. no doubt the whole of manchester will be cheering me on all the way around. i can't wait. this is going to be the first race of several that we've got planned over the next 12 months hopefully finishing with the boston marathon in 2019. the hope is to raise £1 million for the three hospitals that saved mine and my daughter's life. lee selby says he wants to leave a legacy in boxing as he defends his ibf world featherweight title againstjosh warrington tonight. the welshman says he's relishing the prospect of taking on warrington, who's a leeds united fan, in front of a hostile crowd at their home ground, elland road. it'll be selby‘s fifth defence of his title, and he's already looking ahead to his next fight. obviously, i have got one eye on the future, and the big future for me is
6:46 pm
carl frampton. i know we have got a date in august, it might be august the 18th. as long as i come through this fight with a victory, unscathed, i will challenge him and defend my title. i am on the right pasta creating a legacy for myself. well, our boxing correspondent mike costello has been in leeds ahead of the fight, to look ahead to what should be an important event for the city. josh warrington has said in the build—up to this contest that there will be three momentous events on may 19, the royal wedding, the fa cup final, and leeds celebrating a first—ever world boxing champion. there will be a crowd of upwards of 20,000 across town at elland road to watch attempt to make history. he will be played into the ring by the kaiser chiefs, led into the ring by the former leeds united captain lukas hradecky, a hero of warrington‘s when he was growing up. but he will need all of that local further to help turn it his way,

because selby starts as a huge odds—on favourite, and for the winner there could be another outdoor showdown later in the summer, in belfast in august against carl frampton. and frampton will be part of 5 live's commentary team tonight at elland road. coverage starts from 9:30. also in action in leeds will be nicola adams. she faces soledad del valle frias and admits she'll be pleased to get back to doing what she does best after a testing year. while adams has been sparring in her san francisco gym, she has also been supporting her mother in her battle against breast cancer. tanya arnold has been to meet her. iam i am really looking forward to this, i can't wait until saturday night, really ready to perform, i am giving 11096 really ready to perform, i am giving 110% in training, it is going to be a big crowd, it is going to be electric. have you missed leeds? i really have, or the supporters, i have missed yorkshire, it is going to be good to be back in the ring,

doubles quarterfinals when the match was disrupted as a cat ran on court. it was lucky to escape injury after nearly being hit by an overhead smash. and i thought roger federfur had taken a break from the clay—court season! well, there may be a few faces missing from the royal box today, as the president of the fa had best—man duties for his brother prince harry's wedding earlier on today. and we've spotted a few sporting favourites among the congregation. one of the biggest names, david beckham posing along some of the others, serena williams without a cat, alongside her husband, jonny wilkinson, the world cup winner, james haskell with his girlfriend, chloe madeley, and mike tindall, who we know is the husband of zara, who
