period of the season is always tough. players are coming back and i feel for all the coaches, in terms of these qualification games in champions league and europa league and also the cup competitions. managers and players expect to be in full flow within1—2 weeks, which is unrealistic, so i feel for all players and managers who are having to get teams out to try to actually win games when really it is the time of the season for fitness. if you think celtic have it tough, spare a thought for rosenberg. the club sacked their manager six days ago and have placed the academy director in temporary charge. no wonder they are captain says that the only have are captain says that the only have a small chance of putting celtic out of the competition. thanks to david carry at celtic park. plenty of

married on thursday and flew to greece on saturday, confirmation that a man from ireland has died in the wildfires. let's talk to marilena fragiadi, who lives in an eco community in rafina, just a few kilometres from where the wildfires were. thank you forjoining us this evening, this must be a really difficult time for you and your friends and your community. can you just explain to us what happened when the fires started? it is quite a frightening story to remember. people got trapped, basically, in the small area behind me which is behind the fountain that people can see, but they were trapped because the wind suddenly turns the fire towards a populated area. it was

initially on the mountain that the top and then started turning down towards the sea and burning out all the villages and populated areas that are found on its way to the sea. people got trapped because the fire got over the main roads that connects all these areas to the mainland. so the people could not escape from their land they had to escape from their land they had to escape from their land they had to escape from small roads, that are built parallel to the street, but they are very narrow so they got blocked with the car is and they had to abandon the cars to run to the beaches. to save themselves, jumping in the water, some of them u nfortu nately in the water, some of them unfortunately did not make it because there are many cliffs and they had to fall from the cliffs and

had no place to go and got burnt. they had to fall from the cliffs and had no place to go and got burntm does sound like a terrible thing that has happened to so many people, and we're just seeing as well a photograph you sent us of the scene with the fires and uv can see from the watchtower as well the town behind you, just tell us whether people i been evacuated, how many people i been evacuated, how many people that you now have been affected by this, people who have friends and family that have died, of course. many of us in our community, we have friends that had casualties in their families or they lost their houses, they went to work in the morning, monday morning, and they came back to find their houses burnt to the ground. nothing for them left, only the clothes they had and maybe some documents or whatever they had with them going to work. everything else has been burnt down is to ashes, and that was very

frightening and spooky, really. we do have friends that also lost family members, and we had to evacuate our community, we evacuated the elderly people and the children, so the elderly people and the children, so people who were able to deal with an immediate threat, stayed here, which is what we don't. we are waiting to see how things will develop. thankfully for our community, things went very well but u nfortu nately for community, things went very well but unfortunately for friends didn't go so unfortunately for friends didn't go so well. we had to host some people from the affected areas, from some families, and we are waiting to see what we are going to do in the

future and how we can assist them, because many of them are gathered in the municipality buildings and the sports centres here, and the cultural centres, and they are receiving all kinds of assistance from groups like the red cross and the like. and our people content they are getting the help they need with accommodation and rehousing and help to find their loved ones? do they think that the officials and authorities are doing enough to help them? i think they do, but it is quite an unusual situation because many people have been burnt so it is difficult to identify them, so there are many people that are not yet identified among the dead people and there are a lot of people messing.

previously i write on the news that there are more than 80 people who are dead which is a very big amount, number of people, and we are afraid the number is going to grow. thank you so much for speaking to us and telling us about how this terrible event has affected your community. thank you forjoining us. it is time for a look at the weather. we are finally seeing a bit of a change in the weather for the end of the week with some rain in the forecast but before reaching that point the temperatures are set to rise even further. and increasing chance of thunderstorms by friday. overnight, warm and muddy, largely dry with clear spells, breezy but
