firefighters have caught footage ofa fire—nado orfire whirl which engulfed a plastic factory and reached a height of over 50ft. the leicestershire fire and rescue service said the unusual sight was created by cool air entering the top of the hot air causing a swirl similar to how a tornado is formed. time for a look at the weather. here's ben rich. dramatic footage and a dramatic change for some of us today. yesterday parts of the east of england were up into the 30s but today 25, 26, that is your lot. there are some showers out there but all of us are now into this much cooler and fresher air pushing its way in from the atlantic. this is the satellite picture, those shower clouds across northern and western areas drifting their way east. when

could be some very wet weather across parts of the south—east and east anglia but nothing compared to what they will see across the near continent. that will bend drift north into scandinavia by friday. here by the time high pressured tries to take charge once again but it will not be able to stop the showers developing once again. particularly across the northern pa rt particularly across the northern part of the country. some of those showers will be happy. and still that could feel. and then we head into the weekend, this area of low pressure a bit player in the weekend forecast bringing outbreaks of rain and strong wind particularly in the north west. this stage it looks like the wettest and windiest weather across northern and western parts of the uk glasgow, aberdeen, belfast. further south it looks likely that we hold on to a fair amount of dry weather and spells of sunshine and

firefighters battled to contain this wildfire, the biggest recorded in california's history. called the mendocino complex i exactly two blazes which joined together and now covers an area almost the size of la. it has destroyed buildings and thousands have had to leave their homes as it rages through the countryside. it's devastating, it's really devastating to see. and so many people lost their homes in the back, there's nine homes over there in the back. what can you say? it makes you sick to your stomach. everything they've worked for all their life gone in a heartbeat. dry hot weather along with high winds has allowed the fire to grow in an extraordinary way. it jumped at least four creeks and one major road over the weekend. meanwhile more fires have broken out across this state when more than a dozen are burning in several counties.

ahead of the midterms — now set for a very tight race between republicans and democrats. laura podesta reports. the special election race between republican troy balderson and democratic danny o'connor in ohio's 12th district is too close to call. balderson leads o'connor by fewer than 2,000 votes but more than 8,000 provisional and absentee ballots have to be counted which could trigger a mandatory recount. that didn't stop balderson from claiming victory. it's time to get to work. over the next three months, i am going to do everything i can to keep america great again. president tramp handed him the district in 2016. he put the full weight of his support behind balderson, going to ohio over the weekend to campaign for him. can you believe how close this is? we are in a tied ball game. regardless of who comes out on top, the two men will face each other again in november's general election. four other states held primaries yesterday.

in missouri, democratic senator claire mccaskill will face attorney generaljosh hawley, a republican, in what is expected to be a close race. this is a state that voted for president trump by 20 points. 20 points. so being independent in this state means standing up to the liberal wing of your party. you guys are all fired up! and in michigan, the president tweeted that iraq war veteranjothames is a future star of the republican party after he won the primary against the democrat senator debbie stavinal. argentina's senate will vote today on whether to allow abortion in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy. abortion is currently illegal there, except in the case of rape or if the woman's health is in danger. if the bill passes, argentina would become only the fourth country in latin america to broadly legalize abortion, and by far the largest. let's head to northern france. terry
