ben stokes evidence has been throughout that he was acting in self—defense that yes he did in the vault in a fight with these two men, but he was acting in his own self—defense and to protect gay men who were being homophobic leak of use. we heard from ryan, one of the men who were attacked, and he said he was involved in some sort of ba nter he was involved in some sort of banter with the two men, he was not abusing them in any way and then he suddenly saw a tall blond man charging at him. this was ben stokes. he did not know why ben stokes. he did not know why ben stokes was rushing at him. he said later on perhaps he wasjust stokes was rushing at him. he said later on perhaps he was just angry that night and looking for a fight. he did admit that he brandished a bottle at some stage. again, he said that was in self—defense. he took ben stokes in a headlock at one stage, again that wishes to comment down. earlier on, we heard ben stokes himself and he said a lot of the incident he could not remember.
