barely a minute separated the misfortune and the ball bouncing loose to raheem sterling. a stunning strike at the korea plate to recognise the save was equally good. he's one of the portuguese posse, the old gold but with new money. his cross was the glory. 0n like in the world cup of the referee could not see this replay and never saw his hand. city's first real test of the season, they found it fairly simple solution. the first goal for them one all. or one now expected a city siege in fact wolves managed them until the final minutes. this free cake that last chance but sergio denied another twilight highlight. the premier league like a pyrotechnics can't behave unpredictably.

i think we conceded some things. in general we had the chances and we could not make our saves. the point. it's three wins from three for liverpool — who go top of the premier league, thanks to a mo salah strike against brighton. it didn't take too long for last season's top scorer to find the back of the net — but he did it in style. it's salah's second goal of the campaign, and that's the way it finished. jurgen klopp's side have taken maximum points from their opening three matches — and they sit on top of the table. arsenal manager unai emery has his first premier league win after the gunners beat west ham 3—1 at the emirates. the away side actually took the lead through marko arnautovic but it was quickly cancelled out by nacho monreal. then new west ham signing issa diop scored an unfortunate own goal before danny welbeck wrapped up the points late on. so arsenal are off the mark for the season but west ham are still winless from the opening three games.

stadium. the first day of pope frances today tour of ireland. tomorrow he will be heading to cou nty tomorrow he will be heading to county mayo to the shrine and he will also be taking part in the world meeting of families mass. earlier this evening we heard he spent 19 minutes with eight survivors of hierarchal sexual abuse. anita is there for us. she's in dublin. thank you very much. as we continue to look at these images of pope frances's arrival at the park stadium we're getting a little bit more detailfrom park stadium we're getting a little bit more detail from the vatican on that meeting which lasted for 90 minutes as you say with eight survivors of abuse. we were told of clerical religious and institutional abuse, so really, that covers the
7:37 pm
range of terrible scandals that have emerged here in ireland both the abuse by priests of children, the cover—up of that abuse, abusive by other members of catholic religious orders and the abuse, the institutional abuse primarily referring to the mother and baby homes where unmarried mothers were sent to have their children because they were deemed as it was then unfit to be seen in society as unmarried mothers and of course the laundry is as well where many of those young women had to work. the vatican has released the names of all but one of the eight, that final person wishing to remain anonymous. those eight survivors of abuse who met and talked to pope frances for
7:38 pm
90 minutes earlier in dublin include two priests. they also include marie collins now, i very interesting person and the list because she is a campaigner who has been calling for many years for the church to do more to address its failings, and she was a member of the vatican's commission to protect children but resigned last year or what she said was her frustration over the vatican's approach. that is the detail we have been given at the moment. we wait to see whether any of those people involved in a conversation with the pope will be speaking about that experience, we were told earlier today that we would not hear about the meeting until after it had happened and that the church authorities said it was entirely up to the eight survivors whether they chose to speak publicly about the
7:39 pm
conversation. that news just emerging as the pope was about to arrive at the stadium through which he is moving now at this festival of families. 70,000 or more people gathered there to hear him this evening. he will deliver his third a speech of his first day of his visit. there this evening and also we are told he and the crowd will hear testimonies from a number of families from around the world from ireland of course as the host nation for this event from canada, from iraq, from africa. and we are told that there will be reflections on a number of issues, a number of themes
7:40 pm
which the pope has spoken on including homelessness, migrants and refugees, and the environment. we saw the irish president present the pope with a piece of artwork earlier today which reflected on the threats today which reflected on the threats to the environment something on which both men have spoken. and the honour guard at that occasion was provided by the irish naval service which has been involved in operation sophia trying to help migrants at risk of death at sea as they try to evade a range of difficult situations in their home nations. so
7:41 pm
this is the culmination of first very busy day for the 81—year—old pontiff. i had another busy schedule tomorrow but as he blesses the crowd, individuals in the crowd as he passes by you can see on his face there a great still light as people respond to him. we have seen in his pa pa cy respond to him. we have seen in his papacy so far that he is someone who really responds well to people, who is very at ease talking to people and meeting people. whether they are homeless people as he did here in dublin a little earlier. 0r indeed from all whole range of walks of
7:42 pm
life. he is someone who is very co mforta ble life. he is someone who is very comfortable with this sort of evidence. 0ne comfortable with this sort of evidence. one of the reasons why many people have found him a very engaging pope since it was announced that he would succeed benedict back in 2013, but alongside this religious celebration? and the great war we religious celebration? and the great warwe are religious celebration? and the great war we are seeing on the faces of the people greeting him here, undoubtedly the dominant issue of this visit has been the issue of abuse but particularly the sexual abuse but particularly the sexual abuse of children here in ireland and other parts of the world. comes off the back of the pennsylvania grandjury off the back of the pennsylvania grand jury report which advocated around 300 priests in the end the abuse of more than a thousand

children in the 70s and 80s. a couple archbishops in this event had to pull out, archbishops in the us because they were or are dealing with that report. so the eyes of the world undoubtedly on ireland this weekend. and talking to people throughout the day here in dublin, well we have heard a range of affect opinions but many expensive disappointment that pope frances has not said more in terms of setting out any further concrete steps that the church would take to deal with abuse, to do with abusers, those who would cover—up abuse and others have said it was an unrealistic expectation that the pope would talk about this on this weekend, at this world meeting of families and other saying to me that the visit is not yet over, wait and watch ncf he says
7:44 pm
something further. that's one of the reasons why it might be particularly interesting if we do here from any of those eight survivors of abuse who met the pope a little earlier this evening to find out whether he has said something to them. just in the background there to the left of the background there to the left of the pope on your screen was the bishop of dublin who in advance of this visit has been calling forjust that for the church to do more and to be seen to do more. to respond to those calls from victims of abuse. for greater action from the church. some catholics argue that the church
7:45 pm
has already adopted pretty stringent safeguarding policies, but there are calls for more senior clerics and others to be defrocked. for the church to disassociate itself in many ways from individuals who have abused or covered up abuse. so an official welcome here in the park called after the archbishop of normal idiocy for major sporting events and visit concerts. a celebration of a different kind here this evening, it has a capacity of
7:46 pm
just over 82,000 and it's almost at that this evening. why don't we just listed in a little to this welcome for pope frances? the joy of love for pope frances? the joy of love for all of us. for the past three days we have reflected on, we have exchanged experiences and gained new insights on how the family is the expression of the love of god in the world. today, we are here with you to celebrate together and let the whole world know about the beauty and the grace to be found in marriage and the family. as you said in philadelphia three years ago families are god's cream for
7:47 pm
humanity. the married couples who are here united through the sacraments of matrimony can tell us about how every day has its challenges, but they accept every day with courage, to dream with god and to build their lives and help build the lives of their children together with god. and now, holy father, in this festival of families we wish to share with you the joy and the hope that god has shown to us and the hope that god has shown to us through the lives of families from many parts of the world. you are here present and wish to share their experience with you. to listen to your word and to seek your blessing so that we may continue to be witnesses of love in the world. i

i'iow be witnesses of love in the world. i now ask all of us to bow our heads and in silence to pray to the holy family. jesus, mary and joseph, in you we contemplate the splendour of true love. to you we turn with trust, holy family of nazareth, grant that our families to maybe faces of communion and prayer. authentic schools of the gospel and small domestic churches. holy family of nazareth, may families never again experience violence, abuse, rejection and division. and me all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing. holy

expect pope frances himself speaks, but before then some more music, some irish dancing as you can see. for pope frances, a taste of irish culture, as the update of getting 110w culture, as the update of getting now is that that speech will be that a quarter past eight, so in about 25 minutes. an opportunity for the pope to hear some of the music, the dancing and the other acts which have been practicing for this event this evening. cheering. for a very charming little
7:51 pm
irish dancers there each receiving a pat on the head from pope frances and a thumbs—up for good measure. clearly, taking great delight in their performance. some more dancing 110w their performance. some more dancing now from riverdance performers which, of course, has been a huge cultural phenomenon for many years 110w cultural phenomenon for many years now touring around the world and bringing irish dance to audiences all over the globe. and the stage there that the dancers
7:52 pm
are performing on, it's for the stage design will include what we are told is a circle of encounter. where the pope is watching the performances. a great deal of thought put into the setting for this event indeed as is also the case for the event which will happen in phoenix park tomorrow. very familiar music from riverdance for anyone who is used so that or has seen it's, perhaps. and fantastic opportunity for
7:53 pm
ireland to showcase some of the best of its culture given the global interest in the papal visit. and in this we are seeing of course it just burst with and in this we are seeing of course itjust burst with the more serious m essa 9 es itjust burst with the more serious m essa g es of itjust burst with the more serious messages of this visit from pope frances, the more serious and reflective moments, something altogether more energetic. a crowd of around 80,000 watching
7:54 pm
this event tonight, i ticketed event. they scramble for the remaining tickets last few days i'm told. and what a show they are seeing even before the pope begins his speech. and a welcome now to our viewers on bbc world who are joining us for this continuing coverage of the pope frances visit to ireland. this is
7:55 pm
the culmination of day one of the two—day visit and this is the festival of families here at the park. which is a major stadium in dublin. and what you are seeing now on the stage, well, one of the most familiar exports of modern irish culture, the riverdance troupe. quite the phenomenon. a production which has been brought around the world introducing many people who perhaps were familiar with irish dance. ina perhaps were familiar with irish dance. in a pretty dramatic and exciting way. to the dance form. and you can just hear the appreciation
7:56 pm
of the crowd. as warm—up acts go that's a pretty good one, i think. he looks as though he enjoyed it, the pope. we saw some rather lovely performances from before little junior irish dancers a few moments ago and in the riverdance troupe we re ago and in the riverdance troupe were expecting to hear the pope himself speak in a little over 15 minutes' time, so be the third 3gs delivered today and one at dublin council were speaking to you from alongside irish prime minister. another speech in state marriage cathedral in dublin. he met engage in newly married couples and eight couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. and the theme there,
7:57 pm
family and faith and the value of commitment. and on the stage now another very familiar irish cultural export, daniel 0'donnell. he's got the crowd on their feet. # just let your love fly like a bird oi'i # just let your love fly like a bird on the wing and let your love bind you to all living things. that's really a festival atmosphere, as the festival of families. and i will remind you of the news that we learned of as the pope arrived here this evening. we heard the team had met eight survivors of abuse.
7:58 pm
clerical, religious and institutional abuse. here in dublin a little earlier he spent 90 minutes talking to them and we had been told that the meeting would be taking place, we don't know if any of those people are going to be talking publicly yet about the conversation. but a lot of people will be looking at if we do here from some of those in the meeting to see if pope frances has said anything privately to them about further actions of the catholic church might take in terms of dealing with abuse and the cover—up of abuse. so in a way as we look upon this evening we had to consider this event in the overall context of this visit. it's an occasion of greatjoy for many catholics and occasion of
7:59 pm
celebration from many catholics. but there are also those whose fate has been severely tested as a result of chemical abuse and abuse in catholic run institutions. and those who have great discomfort because they want to see the charge to do more. this is the ireland to which pope frances has come, it's a different ireland and the one thatjohn paul ii visited in the last papal visit back in1979, visited in the last papal visit back in 1979, almost four decades ago. but it is one which is still predominantly a catholic country. and know what we are seeing is
8:00 pm
testimony from a number of families from around the world, notjust ireland, to mark this festival of families. i live in mumbai with my family.
