sweep is on the cards with simon yates on the verge of winning the vuelta. five wins out of five is the mark of the pace setters in the premier league as liverpool beat tottenham and chelsea defeat cardiff. it's a surprise pole position in singapore for lewis hamilton as he produces one of the best laps of his career. and, on top of the world, down under! vicky holland is crowned world triathlon champion in australia. also coming up in the programme: south africa celebrate a famous win over the all blacks in new zealand. it has been a very busy day.
7:32 pm
and we will get to the premier league in a moment but let's start with a remarkable feat at the vuelta a espana. britan's simon yates is set to become only the second briton to win the race after the processional finale tomorrow. he finished in stage 20 to keep the overall lead. just a decade ago this sight seemed impossible, but british riders now rule the roads of the continent. in simon yates the sport has entered new territory, in one year agreement from one nation are set to win all the groundwork —— grantors. —— three men from one nation. 0ur set to win all the grand doors. he nowjoins chris froome and gerard thomas as one of cycling's superstars. he although sealed the title in his new he all but sealed the title in his new home. the man from barrie lives and trains in the heels believed until the man from barrie lives and trains in the hills of of andorra, years of mastering these mountains led to this. his job on stage 20

to protect his overall lead, but his approach in the coming stages has been to attack. soon his nearest challenger could not keep up. valverde looks a spent force. as he fell away he could start the uphill procession. in spain and the legs have stayed with him, the jersey stayed red and simon yates rides into madrid tomorrow as britain's latest endurance king. earlier i spoke to patrick fletcher from cyclingnews.com to reflect on the achievement of simon yates. he finished top ten in a couple of grand tours before, but for him to dominate this race in the way he has, and also dominate earlier the year until he famously collapsed later on is a massive step up in his career. and also i think the way he did it was incredibly impressive. he was leading the race early into the final two days in andorra, big mountain stages that would decide the race and he went on the attack on both of them and as the overall leader that close to the end
7:34 pm
of the race you don't need to do that. you canjust defend, but he is a really exciting writer to watch. he's not afraid to go on the attack. he is not a conservative rider at all. to see the red jersey go on the attack like that, it was a really, really historic display from him. his team is one of the best in the world, and he has plenty of support, the european champions working for him earlier the stage, and they've got a good team for the mountains. it is not as good as sky's best team for the tour de france, but he has jack haig, the australian who is putting brilliant shifts a brilliant rider, and also adam yates his twin brother, who has been a bit of a secret weapon. they basically rested him for the half of the race, the first stage they told him to sit up and wait, and towards the end of the stage so he could be fresh for the final week. i think adam really
7:35 pm
played an important role. he was there with simon on the three final big mountain stages, and he was there again today. for the key climbs and deep into the finale of the race before simon obviously went on the attack once again. the premier league has returned after the international break and liverpool have maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2—1 victory at tottenham in the day's early game. klopp‘s men made it five wins out of five for the first time since the 1990/91 season. patrick gearey watched the action. wimbley may be london's most famous rented home but tenants tottenham and hoped to move out by now. this was supposed to be the first game at their new ground before it was delayed. liverpool came closer to a grand opening. by 44 seconds they thought they scored, by 45 they realised they had not. 0ffside, sadio mane judged to be interfering. something the spurs defence would

7:37 pm
here on a day like this after international break and it all came together. to perform like this, that is really... i don't take that for granted, it was just really good. that was not the only interesting result of the day. jeanette has been looking at all the action. chelsea made sure to equal liverpool's100% record with their 4—1 win over cardiff. the london side are top of the table on goal difference after eden hazard scored a hat trick and willian added their fourth. cardiff are still awaiting their first league win this season. manchester city had a comfortable 3—nil win over fulham david silva scoring his 50th premier league goal as pep guadrolia's side recorded their fourth league victory in five games and remain unbeaten. sane scored in under two minutes and raheem sterling had his early second—half goal. it was frustrating, to be honest with you. i feel like we need to be putting more gold in the back of the net when we get these chances.
7:38 pm
i feel like we need to be more ruthless, but we will take the free goals and we will have a look at how we can improve to score more goals. like i said, we got in positions, but is just about tucking it into the back of the net at the end of the day. arsenal won their third game on the trot as they beat newcastle 2-1. granit xhaka's superb free—kick set unai emery‘s side up for all three points before mesut ozil doubled the gunners' lead. newcastle did grab a consolation goal in the final minute, but remain without a win this season. watford's100% record has finally been broken by manchester united. two quick fire first out old enough to figure the 2—1 victory for united. greg was watching. the last timejose mourinho ventured south via bears link bellow over at wembley. this evening as manchester united trouble to inform wobbler quys united trouble to inform wobbler guys watford you would be hoping his side would be right for sure footed

australia joined the party, but three soon became two, as the pair moved out alone. holland is the world champion! it was such a great race for vicky. you have to be sensible, conserve your energy, look forward to the run and getting onto the run, she executed and sealed the world title. a day she says she never expected, now a new title to get used to. if friday night's weigh—in was anything to go by, the rematch between gennady golovkin and canelo alvarez should be a feisty affair. the pair fought to a draw last year and this bout, for golovkin's wba and wbc middleweight titles, in las vegas, has been billed as the fight of the year. ade adedoyin there for us. ade, they haven't even got into the ring and fists were flying last night — i can only imagine the atmosphere in vegas right now?

the build—up has been very controversial because both men have refused to stand next to each other and they did not do so in the final head to head news conference yesterday when asked to pose for the customary shot. things quickly started to go over. as he approached the bus to head towards him and they had to be separated. a bit of pushing and shoving between the two camps. what i thought was quite interesting was golovkin did not move and stay completely still and calm. what that showed me is the animosity is real, it is notjust hyped up, these two generally do not like each other and i bodes well in terms of this being a good contest. i'm not writing on it for both after the controversy of the last 12 months. with it being the rematch i'm sure both cans of fancy their chances. would you think of coming out on top? it will be quite interesting. i thought maybe alvarez showed to much emotion yesterday saying when he was interviewed on stage he got a little bit excited by

in italy next week. its been quite a journey for the 20—year—old from london who lost the use of his legs after being hit by a car as a child. nick hope has been to meet him. i have a spinal cord injury at ta level and i came around after a car accident when i was about to and half years old and it means i'm completely paralysed from the chest down. sport was used to kind of, as kind of a rehabilitation thing to help me get fit and help with being in a wheelchair so in a way disability has been the gateway for all of this, because it starts out as something you need to do and through that you find something you absolutely love doing. and dmitry certainly loves winning, which he did twice at the 2017 world championships. that, a year after missing out on a medal at the rio paralympics where his team—mate took silver. rio was tough. that was my first paralympics and i was pretty
7:53 pm
disappointed with myself, i thought they could've done better but the world championships was in threat that's incredible. that kind of enjoyment i felt afterwards lasted for weeks. and success brought support. the british team had less than £200,000 from uk sport leading into rio 2016 but when i received nearly £1 million ahead of tokyo 2020. since we have now got uk sport funding it's become a lot more secure and it's made things a lot more professional in my opinion. claiming two gold medals at the world championships last year was one of his lifetime ambitions and while his major aim is to win gold at tokyo 2020 paralympics european success and a first ever european title is high on his list list. the last european championship i got silver and bronze. i cannot let that same mistake happen again. i think it's an incredibly dynamic, varied sport and no two matches are ever the same and i would love to convert a silver and bronze into two golds as well. we think we might have seen a record
