but as our south east asia correspondentjonathan head reports, he's always kept a relatively low profile in his home nation. back in britain, vichai srivaddhanaprabha is a well known and much loved figure for what he has done for the football club in leicester. in thailand, he cut a much more enigmatic profile. he was a very secretive man. very rarely gave interviews. his company came from nowhere in the late 1980s and he became very rich quickly on the back of a controversial and contested monopoly of duty—free sales in a country, which has experienced a massive tourist boom and for that reason there isn't that much reaction here yet in thailand. the family itself rarely speaks to the media. we have had no comment at all from the headquarters behind us. nobody in the company at this stage knows how they are meant to respond, or the exact facts of what has happened back in britain. this does cast a shadow

over the future of this company as it is a one—man dominated company. he ran it in the tradition of ethnic chinese run companies. his family are appointed to all board positions. he made all key decisions. no—one is sure how his successors will be able to navigate difficult political waters to maintain that all—important duty—free monopoly. that is how business and politics is done here in this country and the questions hanging over king power will inevitably hang over leicester city football club as well. prosecutors in the united states have charged a man with 29 offences — including hate crimes and murder — in connection with a mass shooting at a synagogue in pittsburgh. eleven people died after a gunman opened fire during morning service. six others were wounded.
