party in a first president's party in a first mid—term election since at least president kennedy's in 1962. there have been only four mid—term elections since 1934 in which a president's party has gained even a single senate seat. as of now, we picked up, it looks like, three could be four. perhaps it could be two. but we picked up a lot. and most likely the number will be three, you people probably know that better than i do at this point, because you've looked at the more re ce nt because you've looked at the more recent numbers. 55 is the largest numberof recent numbers. 55 is the largest number of republican senators in the la st number of republican senators in the last 100 years. in the last 80 years a sitting president's party has only gained a lot of total of total of eight senate seats. averaging one per decade. so if we picked up two, three or four, that's a big

percentage of that number so in the la st percentage of that number so in the last 80 years, you think of that, only eight seats. when president 0bama's first midterm election he lost six senate seats including in the deep blue state of massachusetts. republicans captured at least four senate seats held by democrat incumbents and these are tremendously talented hard—working people that did this. indiana, north da kota, people that did this. indiana, north dakota, florida, missouri. we also woi'i dakota, florida, missouri. we also won two open senate seats in tennessee. i want to congratulate oui’ tennessee. i want to congratulate our great champion who did such a greatjob in our great champion who did such a great job in tennessee, our great champion who did such a greatjob in tennessee, marsha. and in utah. and arizona is looking very

good. really very good. she's done a terrific job, good. really very good. she's done a terrificjob, that was a tough race and she's done a fantasticjob. in each of these open seats democrats recruited very strong candidates with substantial fundraising and media support. we were getting bombarded with money on the other side. in the house republicans dramatically outperformed historical precedents and overcame a historic numberof precedents and overcame a historic number of retirements, the most house republican retirements in 80 years, 43 house republicans are tired. i will say this, in many cases they were chairman of committees and they left because they were chairman, because the republicans have a rule that for six years and what that does is wonderful and one—way, it lets people come through the system and become chairman and in another way it drives people out because when the arab chairman they don't want to go and not be a chairman, you are

the chairman of a committee and you are a big deal and all of a sudden you're not doing that any more so they leave. we had a lot of them leave. i guess you can flip a coin as to which system is better. the democrats do the other, some of those people have been chairman of committees for a long time. in 2010, president 0bama first midterm, by the most current account it looks like around 27 house seats or something and we will figure that out pretty soon. we also had a slew of historic wins and the governors races which were incredible. against very well funded, talented and skilled democrat candidates, and people that worked very, very hard, respectfully, for those candidates, like 0prah respectfully, for those candidates, like oprah winfrey, who i liked. i don't know she likes me any more, but that's ok. she used to. but she worked very hard in georgia. and if

you look at them, in four governors races, crucial to 2020 and the presidential race, florida, iowa, ohio and georgia, the big ones, florida, iowa, ohio and georgia, cannot get much more important than that. they were incredible, they we re that. they were incredible, they were actually incredible campaigns. as of right now republicans will control the majority of governorships across the country. including three great women who worked very hard, governors of alabama, south dakota and iowa. they worked very hard and were very talented. by expanding our senate majority the voters have also clearly rebuked the senate democrats for their handling of the brett

kavanaugh's earrings, that was a factor, i think maybe a very big factor, i think maybe a very big factor, the way that was handled, tremendous energy given to the republican party by the way they treated thenjudge republican party by the way they treated then judge kavanaugh, republican party by the way they treated thenjudge kavanaugh, no justice cavanagh. they expressed their support for more great pro—constitutionjudges. their support for more great pro—constitution judges. candidates who embraced our message of low taxis, low regulations, low crime, strong borders and greatjudges excelled last night. they excelled. they really, i mean, we have a list of people that were fantastic and i will point them out. michael bost, rodney davis, and the bar was fantastic, i went to kentucky and for the most part i did not campaign

love gave me no love and she lost. too bad. sorry about that, mia barbara comstock was another one. i think she could have won that race but she did not want to have any embrace, for that i do not blame her. but she lost substantially. peter ross come did not want the embrace, eric polson did not want the embrace, and in newjersey i think they could have done well but it did not work too good. bob, i feel badly because that is something i think which could have been won. john, another one, people who decided for their own reason not to embrace, whether it is me or what we stand for. but what we stand for meant a lot to most people and we

democrats will come to pass with a plan for infrastructure, a plant health care, a plan for whatever they are looking at. and we will negotiate. as you know it's been very ha rd negotiate. as you know it's been very hard in the senate because we need essentially ten votes from democrats and we don't get those because the democrats stick together. i do not agree with them ona together. i do not agree with them on a lot of policy but i agree with them on sticking together. so now we go into the senate, we don't have the ten votes and what happens? it does not get past. even if it gets out of the house it does not get passed. under the new concept of what we are doing i say come on, let me see which you have. they want to do things, i keep hearing about investigations, fatigue, like almost from the time i announced i was going to run they have been giving us going to run they have been giving us this investigation fatigue. it's

beena us this investigation fatigue. it's been a long time. they've got nothing. zero, do you know why? because there is nothing, they can play that game but we can play it better. because we have a think of the united states senate and a lot of very questionable things were done between leaks of classified information and many other elements that should not have taken place and all you're going to do is end up back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and two years will go up and we will not have done nothing. i really think and i really respect what nancy said last night about bipartisanship and getting together and uniting. she used the word uniting and she used the bipartisanship statement which is so important because that's what we should be doing. they can look at us, we should be doing. they can look at us, we can should be doing. they can look at us, we can look at them, and it will go back and forth and it will probably be very good for me

common on infrastructure. we want to do something on health care and so do something on health care and so do they, there are a lot of great things we can do together and now i will set it up and we will get the democrats and we will get the republicans, some of the republicans, some of the republicans, i will make sure we send something up that the republicans can support and they are going to want to make sure they send something up that the democrats can support. so our great country is booming like never before and we are thriving on every single level. both in terms of economic and military strength. in terms of development, in terms of gdp, we are doing unbelievably. i will tell you our trade deals are coming along fa nta stically. trade deals are coming along fantastically. the us mca, south korea is finished, the us mca has gotten rave reviews, we will not get companies going to other countries, they will not do that because they have a tremendous economic incentive

meaning it's prohibitive for them to do that so it's not going to be like nafta, one of the worst deals i have ever seen nafta, one of the worst deals i have ever seen the lead me to mother pretty bad ones too. now is the time for members of both parties tojoin together, put partisanship aside and keep the american economic miracle going strong. it is a miracle, we are doing so well and i've said it had a lot of rallies, some have you heard it so much you will not want to yet again but when come to my office, presidents, prime minister's they all congratulated me, almost bursting, and what we have done economically because it is amazing. our steel industry is back, our aluminium industry is starting to do really well. these industries which we re really well. these industries which were dead, miners are working again. we must all work together to protect our military. they have to do that. we have do support our law
