the final round of matches in the european champions cup and tonight edinburgh can qualify for the quarterfinals, and that would be great news for glasgow too. last week edinburgh secured a brilliant win away at the french side toulon, so this is how the group looks going into this last match. they're at home at murrayfield against the sidejust behind them in pool five, montpellier. it's live on five live sports extra with kick—off at 7:45, and edinburgh know that only a win will ensure their place in the knockout stage. it's a really big deal this for edinburgh — they haven't made it through the pool stage since 2012, and this would be just the third time they've done so in their history. what about glasgow then?
6:33 pm
well they're currently sitting in second in pool three, and have a tough test tomorrow when they go to saracens, who've already sealed their place in the quarterfinals with a 100% record . with a 100% record. that match might not have too much riding on it because an edinburgh win ensures glasgow would go through as one of the top three runners up. and that would be a first for scottish rugby with both sides advancing. earlier i spoke to the former scotland international and edinburgh fly—half, chris paterson. edinburgh have been adding layers to the game for the last year or so, so the game for the last year or so, so the defense was rock solid. it is a great town location, the set piece has been excellent for a good number of months and last week, in toulon
6:34 pm
they added that attacking edge, when you play french teams they tend to give you more opportunity to play, they will put two or flee in the back field, they will maybe be a bit narrower in defense, and edinburgh took full advantage of that, there was space to attack, that have some wonderful attacking talent, the key thing for me is the bidding block, the set piece of defense are outstanding and it allows the rest of the layers to be added. they are doing well. a big game tonight against a classy opposition and, but it at home, they have a great home record, they have won the last four in europe, so all is going well the other qualification issue to settle in the champions cup glasgow has won the last four games ina row glasgow has won the last four games in a row in europe, but you know, everybody knows how difficult it is to play down at saracens but glasgow
6:35 pm
have picked a team to go there and do that, but if edinburgh win, they will top the group, they will get a home quarterfinal but it will also mean glasgow will qualify and it will be the first time scottish by will be the first time scottish rugby have had two teams qualifying in the same year. glasgow have only qualified once, edinburgh twice, so to get them both in the same campaign would be pretty special and a good, i suppose omen, or good build up for the six nationses for greg for and his squad. —— gregor. well the other qualification issue to settle in the champions cup this weekend involves the premiership leaders exeter. this side often struggle in european competition which is strange considering their brilliant domestic form in recent years. they have to go to munster, who top the pool, and win to have any hope of making it through, but they have given themselves a chance after beating the french champions castres last week. big pressure then for the chiefs and the head coach rob baxter... let us put our best foot forward, if
6:36 pm
we perform well will do what we need to do, around we will take whatever on the chin, let us make sure we show the best of ourselves and be involved in what could be a big game. there is pressure on us, a good performance will put it through but there is a huge amount of pressure becauseth is a huge game for munster, the reality is we know what we need to do to go through, if we manage to go away from munster and go through knowing the opportunity was there, i think that would wrap it up to be our biggest european performance to date. staying with rugby union, the bristol bears owner steve lansdown says relegation from and promotion to the premiership should be suspended for three years to make the league stronger. he says only the current 12 clubs , including his, and also london irish in the championship, have a good enough infrastructure for the top tier. it isa
6:37 pm
it is a huge game if you look at the number of clubs that could come up from the championship, i don't want to be disrespectful to any of them but they don't have the infrastructure, and therefore they don't have the wherewithal to add value to the premiership. you have to give them opportunity to build that. somebody comes along with a good stadium, good infrastructure, wins the league, they should have the opportunity to come into the premiership. i would say have a three year window, take relegation out of it and promotion out of the equation, and after that three year window, a club who wins the championship or who has the infrastructure to be in the premiership should play off with the bottom premiership should play off with the botto m tea m premiership should play off with the bottom team to get in there. a controversial view but another voice weigh in on the fact the premiership should be a closed shop. to the football. liverpool can stretch their lead at the top of the premier league to seven points again,

at least for 2h hours, with manchester city not facing bottom side huddersfield until sunday. jurgen klopp's side are home to crystal palace. juliette ferrington went along to the liverpool manager's news conference today. here we have been listening to the liverpool managerjurgen klopp talking about the visit of crystal palace, who were, the last team to win at anfield, 637 days ago, the programme dress liverpool has made since then has been impressive, but it is progress thatjurgen klopp isn't interested in i don't talk of progress constantly. i don't think about the games two weeks or three weekingsing a, the last game in my mind, progress is something everybody should expect, so, we have the club give us fantastic opportunity to bring in outstanding player, keeping outstanding players and what my job player, keeping outstanding players and what myjob is to make sure that we can really deliver. and off the back of andy robertson signing a new long—term deal here at liverpool, jurgen klopp has tressed the club
6:39 pm
will not be be losing any key players. this season will not finish our development, that is good. it doesn't look like we will lose nike player, or look like really really... what's the word for it? being really here with all they have, enjoying it here, with the other boys, in the stadium, training ground, that is another good thing, we build a new training ground. we love this place, but that is another step in the that liverpool—palace match one of six to kick off at three tomorrow. wolves against leicester is the lunchtime kick—off. marko arnautovich has been left out of the west ham squad for the trip to bournemouth. he's expected to be sold. we'll get more on manchester united against brighton in a moment, but united can move up to fifth if arsenal slip up at home to chelsea. manchester city play in one of the two matches on sunday. they are at managerless bottom club huddersfield, before spurs go to fulham, who are also in the relegation zone. he may only be the caretaker, but ole gunnar solksjaer can't seem
6:40 pm
to put a foot wrong at the moment. if manchester united beat brighton at old trafford that will be seven out of seven, and six league games in a row. no united manager has done that before. what has probably helped is that solskjaer is no stranger to the city — and he says he is very settled. i have to say i look forward to getting up in the morning, and to start work again, i always do to be fair, when i work in football, you know, in mall burgh, cardiff, i lover working with people, trying to improve people and when you are here, you just want to go to bed at night and then go, get. in the the a so here but i've found a place so it won't be too long. i have mates and won't be too longrlhave n‘ratefind friends here so i have been to see a ‘of them so ‘ of them so it is not like few of them so it is not like i'm in the hotel on my own. this time last week, spygate was just building up a head

of steam, leeds boss marcelo bielsa admitting that he had sent a member of staff to snoop on a derby training session before they beat them last friday night. bielsa has since admitted that he's speied on every team they've played. the manchester city manager pep guaridola had his say on the matter and said it happens all the time on the continent. in other countries everybody does that. everybody does that. they are open, so i was training in bayern munich there were people with cameras, with, watching what we do, so cameras, with, watching what we do, so everybody does that. it is closed off here, but have you ever had any... i have never sent anyone to spyr any... i have never sent anyone to spy, no. it's the scottish cup this weekend. the first match was scheduled tonight, rangers playing at league 2 cowdenbeath, but the pitch is frozen at central park stadium so it's been postponed. phil neville belives the 2022 world cup in qatar could be one

of the greatest tournaments. the england lionesses manager is currently in the gulf state for a warm weather training camp with his squad ahead of this summer's women's world cup in france. the fa planned the trip partly to learn more about what players and fans can expect if the men reach the finals in three years' time. and neville has been really impressed. we are training in an unbelievable facility, the facilities on what we are seen facility, the facilities on what we are seen they are preparing for for the world cup are going to be amazing, remember when qatar won the bid and people said how, how they are going to put on a world cup, i knew from visiting the country it can be something special, i think the close proximity of the facilities here, the unbelievable warmth of the people means i think this could be one of the greatest world cups of all time. let's bring you up to date with what's hapening at the australian open.. no british players left.

the fourth round is beginning to take shape and the women's champion, caroline wozniacki, has been knocked out by the five—time grand slam winner maria sharapova. the russian, who won this touranment in 2008, came through in three sets. i thoughtitrwastasusual. didn't have to be, in some ways, but it felt like in the longer rallies i did a greatjob of winning those, rallies i did a greatjob of winning those. put a lot of pressure on her, and you know, those are the rallies i think many years ago that she used to win, and i thought i did a great job of getting a higher percentage of wins on those. no major upsets in the men's draw, these two are on course for a semifinal meeting. the defending champion roger federer has won the last two australian opens and is chasing a record seventh title.

he made very light work of his third round match against the american taylor fritz. afterwards he addressed the issue of players having to play into the early hours of the morning — after britain'sjohanna konta, said was it a danger to players‘ health, her defeat to garbine mugurtha finished at 3.30 in the morning. it is ideal? no, it's not, but sometimes what can you do? if you schedule a match at specially a men's match before and that thing goes, you know, four, five hours and it can happen, as we saw also with chardy, played a great match. i don't know what choice you have. you could move them to an outside court but the atmosphere might last year's beaten finalist marin cilic was on court until almost iam against fernando verdasco. the croatian sixth seed lost the first two sets and had to save two match points before he came through in five. the 2009 champion rafael nadal also

pakistani to be a professional cricketer, he was warded an mbe, he became chief executive of leicester shire county cricket club, through every step, a ground breaker. someone said to me that you're the only black or south asian or bame individual who's a ceo across any professional sporting club across the country. i think what we can't get past in this country, the intentions might be there but there isa intentions might be there but there is a level of unconscious bias. there are #i2i8 restrictions to how far people are progressing, it comes down system, it comes down to education and think what we as a game have to do, cricket in particular, we still have to start looking at the value of what difference can bring. his own world is changing he is relocating to lahore to take charge of pakistan.

security fears have left pakistan playing almost exclusively abroad. it isa playing almost exclusively abroad. it is a realistic ambition for pakistan to be the number one cricket playing nation in the world? yes, look, ithink cricket playing nation in the world? yes, look, i think you cricket playing nation in the world? yes, look, ithink you have cricket playing nation in the world? yes, look, i think you have to have that's a operation and you have to get people to start to think that way, if you are going to say, we would like to go up three or four places in the rankings you will get mediocrity, people won't see much of a change, what he we are trying to create is a system change. there is gots lots of good things that happen, but there is lots of things that aren't up to where they should be in terms of high performance systems. england are next due tour pakistan in 2021. so we have two or three years. would you hope that england do do that? absolutely, but we have to, there is still steps we have to take and there is still a bit we need to do, but we would hope we co—evidence lots o changes in

line with what the security analysts are telling england, it might be we start with one test match of a three test match series which would be a start, but that would be a major step forward for a country and population that is still starved of seeing their local heroes play, and we have got to address that. that. still to come on sportsday.
