cup football in just a moment also reflect on another slip up from the league leaders liverpool and hearfrom pep guardiola on the title race he's not counting out manchester united you know, i wonder whatjose mourinho would make of that. sacked by united less than two months ago, he is still out of work but never out of the headlines. his long running tax case with the spanish authorities reached its conclusion in a madrid court today. he's accepted a one—year prison sentence for defrauding the spanish state, that always sounds dramatic, but he will never see the inside of a cell, he'lljust have to serve the term under probabtion and pay even more in fines. miriam walker khan explains. this all dates back to when mourinho was in charge of real madrid. he was accused of owing 3.3 million
6:34 pm
euros to spanish tax authorities for the time he spent managing real madrid seven years ago. he was accused of creating offshore companies in the british virgin islands to manage earnings from his image rights — which are lucrative in the world of football. he accepted a one—year prison sentence, but in spain, its normal to convert short—term prison sentences for fines. the sentence will be exchanged for a fine of £182,500 euros. that ll be added to a separate fine of 2 million euros. and he s not the only big name fine of 2 million euros. with the spanish authorities. last month, cristiano ronaldo did the same thing. his case also centred around tax owed on image rights, and related when he was playing for real madrid — then managed by mourinho. ronaldo accepted a fine of 18.8 million euros, plus a 23 month suspended jail sentence. lionel messi is another huge name who s been in trouble with the spanish tax man. again, he was concealing earnings from image rights. messi was found guilty of defrauding spanish authorities of 4.1 million euros between 2007 and 2009. like the others,
6:35 pm
his prison sentence of 21 months was converted into a fine. courts made the argentinian pay 400 euros for each day of his sentence. and marcelo vieira, euros for each day of his sentence. accepted a four—month suspended jail sentence in september. it seems likely, more could follow. miriam walker—khan, bbc news. let's speak to spanish sports journalist ernest macia about this, some eye watering amounts of money that those players have paid for their in discrepancy is. what about their in discrepancy is. what about the jose their in discrepancy is. what about thejose mourinho story? what is the reaction bin? a mild reaction because it is not the first almost substantial case in the most amount of money so nothing to do with the amount of money of rinaldo, a bit
6:36 pm
less, so another case, one more example. he is not the coach of real madrid any more. if he was the coach of the archrival, of barcelona, in madrid, things would also have been different to so i think it is one more case and we will see in the weeks to come, we will see what happens but there are many examples. is this just happens but there are many examples. is thisjust a happens but there are many examples. is this just a case of footballers with far too much money being badly advised? i think it is a case of multimillionaires, not only footballs but also artists... there is been a change of criteria. spain is been a change of criteria. spain is narrowing the closure around these multimillionaires because the practice has come on in the last decade so this change once to be an
6:37 pm
example for the rest of the people in spain. these are examples, these are icons for the rest of people and for them, the rest of the people will have to make things properly. this is a question of being an example. if lien a la messi and cristiano rinaldo face charges, less than two years and can be invest in fines, then other people have two. in this country, over the pasco decades, because of the amount of money that premier league players are moving away, more distance between them and the fans than ever before, what is the sense in spain, are they just completely different beings all together now? there is no relation to the man on the street in barcelona, madrid, seville, where ever they might be playing?”
6:38 pm
barcelona, madrid, seville, where ever they might be playing? i think it isa ever they might be playing? i think it is a question of the individuals. that they basically trust all things regarding to professionals and of course as professionals tragedy did best for their clients, knowing the reality. the reality has changed in relation to this kind of practice and now the problems come suddenly and now the problems come suddenly and leave. i don't think that lionel messi is an expert like cristiano ronaldo. likejose messi is an expert like cristiano ronaldo. like jose mourinho. .. messi is an expert like cristiano ronaldo. likejose mourinho... they basically know how to deduct and i do not think they have big studies in economics so i think more it is a question of the people surrounding them. they are accepting it but of course in spain, the first case probably was especially the moment in which they were comparing cristiano ronaldo and lionel messi, the front pages were talking a lot
6:39 pm
about it but i'm not surejose mourinho will make an impact at the current moment because there's so many cases in notjust but also bankers, tycoons, many examples, especially in the south of europe, many examples of that. cristiano ronaldo has money through a company based in the virgin islands so is common and so many cases that it does not make any effect on us. thank you so much forjoining us live from barcelona. and the fact thatjose mourinho live from barcelona. and the fact that jose mourinho has live from barcelona. and the fact thatjose mourinho has escaped a jail sentence but has had to pay a very hefty fine to the spanish authorities. there are four fa cup replays being played tonight. league one shrewsbury were one of the stories of the fourth round, holding premier league wolves to a draw. conor mcnamara is at molineux to see which side will make it into the last 16. a big night fisheries spree who have
6:40 pm
managed to bring premier league wolverhampton wanderers to a replay place in the fifth round. i am looking for to watching the game alongside former wolves midfielder. what if you made of their season overall? they have looked really good when they were good and it is about getting consistency? and amazing season so far admit this point mark after 25 games is fantastic. they will be full of confidence going into this game. how important do you think the fa cup is for wolves this season? when you're fighting relegation, it is different but wolves are very safe and i think this will be an opportunity for them to get some silverware or at least have a good go. i saw shoes free when they were taking stoke to replay and they came back to win three goals to two. the way they performed in the last game against
6:41 pm
wolves, wolves were lucky. they were fortu nate to wolves, wolves were lucky. they were fortunate to nick that draw and get the replay. it could be a different story tonight but shrewsbury will be full of heart and confidence. local derby here as well! 0nly full of heart and confidence. local derby here as well! only in the fifth round once in the last five yea rs, fifth round once in the last five years, shrewsbury between them in the next round tonight. barnet are the last non—league side left in this year's competition. the national league side, that's the fifth tier, forced a replay agaisanst brentford after an incredible tie at the hive 8 days ago, chris slegg is at griffin park for us. this is a battle of the london bees. the two capital clubs that go by the nickname. barnett, 17th in the national league, the lowest ranked tea m national league, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, taking on brentford, 17th in the championship but barnet have already knocked out one team from that division. against sheffield united, now taking their place for the first time in their history. it was quite

a night at the hive eight days ago when the teams played out a three all draw. since then, barnet have inquired disappointed by the amount of tickets they were offered for this tie. 0riginally 1500, of tickets they were offered for this tie. 0riginally1500, it has crept up a bit. a player said they we re crept up a bit. a player said they were entitled to 1900 but brentford have pointed to health and safety reasons and the fa have confirmed that they have received special dispensation to receive fewer tickets. plenty of excitement for bre ntford tickets. plenty of excitement for brentford fans, could be one of the last great fa cup lights here at gryphon bark which is been home for 150 years. due to move into their new stadium in the summer of 2020. the winners know that a trip to swa nsea the winners know that a trip to swansea awaits in the next round and they would both say that that brings with it not much glamour but a realistic prospect of taking a place in the quarterfinals. there are two more games tonight. league 2 newport county play championship middlesbrough, that's on 5—live, and qpr from the 2nd tier take on portsmouth in league one. it feels like we've reached a pivotal point in the premier league title race.

this time last week, manchester city's defeat at newcastle looked to have handed the advantage to liverpool but back to back draws for the leaders has given pep guardiola's side plenty of hope. held first by leicester at home then last night another 1—1 result away at west ham, liverpool's march has become a bit of stumble, they took the lead through sadio mane but it should have been disallowed for offside. jurgen klopp says the referee tried to even that out by favouring west ham with some of his decisisons. the fa have asked him to explain those comments. a charge could be on the way. klopp said that the hammers deserved their equaliser through michail antonio but refused to accept that assertion that his team are feeling any kind of pressure, just a bad day at the office. what he has to accept is that if city win at everton tomorrow night they will return to the top. but is itjust about those two sides? ben croucher has been looking at where we are at 25 games
6:44 pm
into the season, any ideas where this race is heading ben? well many of the headlines have been dominated by these two — there's 1, maybe 2, maybe even three other teams in the mix as well. but what of liverpool then? wobble? blip? crisis? well there's clearly been a dip in form of late. they dropped just 6 points in their first 20 matches. the turn of the year has seen a downturn in form. defeat to city, draws with leicester and west ham have closed everything up. worringly too — their £66 million goalkeeper alisson isn't playing well either. he's conceded 7 goals from 11 shots on target this year — the worst of any keeper in the top 6. he's also saved just 36.4% of shots in 2019 — that's the worst record in the premier league this year. but hey — 3 points clear at the top isn't a bad blip let's face it. after 25 games,
6:45 pm
liverpool are on 62 points. they're the fifth team to have reached that mark in the premier league era. the other four teams 0lly have all gone on to win the title. history is on their side. manchester city have had a sniff and that they have got this match coming up in the next 24—hour is puts the heat on liverpool a bit more? it seems like they are always the one playing first. yes — they're playing everton and it a win could take city top on goal difference. pep guardiola it seems in every press conference right now is asked about the gap to liverpool. whether it's 10, 7, 4 or 3 at the minute. he has suggested that tottenham and even chelsea and man to do united are still in with a shout. the gap is not too big. with 39 points to play, we are nine, ten points behind. it is not to much. seeing

what happened right now and the premier league, everybody is ready to ta ke premier league, everybody is ready to take points. flagging upa flagging up a six way tie. remember, at the turn of the year, liverpool we re at the turn of the year, liverpool were ten points clear. this is how it looks at the moment. let's not discount tottenham hotspur because they are five points behind liverpool because they go to anfield at the end of march. to face city in april. win both of those and who knows. and manchester united down in fifth right now and liverpool and city both have to go to old trafford between now and may so either way — united and spurs will have a big say on the destination of the title. they certainly will. promises to be a fantastic couple of months ahead. england s women will warm up for this summer's world cup by playing four friendly internationals around the country. the road to france series starting in april will see
