evening, we will be heading live to goodison park, the hawthornes and kingsmeadow ahead of some very important matches this evening, we are going to start with football, but it's the tragic story of emiliano sala, the argentine striker whose body is yet to be found following a plane crash over two weeks ago. rememeber he was en—route from nantes to cardiff after his £15 million transfer, today the bbc has learned that the french club has threatened legal action because they haven't received any of the fee yet... let's cross live to the cardiff newsroom. and speak to tomos morgan, there are parts of this terrible story that have been very uncomfortable to digest, it is difficult to digests the revelation of those text messages of
6:34 pm
the details of the transfer. but now this, it seems there unseemly, wrangling over money. yes, it must be very difficult for the fans of na ntes football clu b be very difficult for the fans of nantes football club where he was held in such high regard. he was a clu b held in such high regard. he was a club hero, he had scored several goals for them, he was one of the top goal—scorers in the french league for the past few years. they held him in such high regard. i'm sure this news won't be going down well in the eyes of cardiff fans either, still grieving the player that never was for the bluebirds, someone that never was for the bluebirds, someone they were hoping would help their relegation bid, to stay in the premier league, the shrine outside cardiff city stadium with the shirt su nflowers cardiff city stadium with the shirt sunflowers and the scarves has been growing ever since that news came.
6:35 pm
—— shirts and flowers. we understand that nantes are now demanding some of that payment. that's £15 million. that they were meant to have for the sale. the payment was split over three years but cardiff city have said they have withheld the first instalment until they are satisfied with the documentation for what was to be their club record signing. they have also added that they are very surprised the french club is asking for this money when attempts are still being made to recover a body from the plane wreck at the bottom of the channel. football clu bs a re bottom of the channel. football clubs are businesses at the end of the day. football players are assets. that is why have made these demands today. but a difficult time for the family to hear this, the fa ns to for the family to hear this, the fans to hear this and everyone involved. —— that is why have made
6:36 pm
these demands. what is the latest from guernsey and the wreckage of the plane? the plane has been found, they know that a body is still on board. what is the latest? like you said this is desperately sad. frustrating for the family. there has been some bad weather over the last few days, the last week or so, but they are continuing to try now to pull the wreckage and the body that they have spotted in the wreckage from the sea. i don't think we can give a definite timescale on how long that would take. the accident investigation team and eve ryo ne accident investigation team and everyone involved are reluctant to give a timeframe on that because it will be a difficult process. we understand that maybe there might be some bringing out the body first and then the plane, but with bringing anything up from the sea, trying to keep it intact so a full postmortem and enquiry will take some time.
6:37 pm
many thanks indeed. footage has emerged of mo salah being racially abused at west ham during liverpool's draw there on monday night. west ham and the police are trying to identify the individual who was filmed on a mobile phone. it's just the latest incident this season that has seen, raheem sterling and pierre emerick aubameyang face abuse from the stands here's our sports editor dan roan i think these incidents have certainly provoked the authorities into some kind of action, you have the sports minister earlier on this week announcing that she wanted to hold what she described as an urgent sonnet, bringing together players, football clu bs, sonnet, bringing together players, football clubs, leagues, agents, stakeholders to try and thrash out how the situation could be improved and how this coronation policies could be beefed up. tomorrow in london the premier league clubs get together and they are going to discuss a range of measures designed
6:38 pm
to improve the situation. for example, greater cooperation with the british transport police and the cbs when it comes to identifying perpetrators. they want greater representation for black and middle eastern players. and coaches, a potential scheme involving placements and training on referee courses. and centrally i think there will be an acknowledgement after this meeting that there has been a degree of failure and more needs to be done now. we had some terrific fourth replays in the cup last night, there is one place left to be taken in the last 16. it will go to either west bromwhich albion or brighton. the momentum has shifted from one
6:39 pm
tea m the momentum has shifted from one team to the next so far. seven days ago liverpool missed the chance to go seven points clear and then drew again on monday. here we are with city having the chance to go topped of the table for the first time since december. they have a spring backin since december. they have a spring back in their step after that defeat at newcastle. they bounced back with an impressive win over arsenal, that hat—trick from sergio aguero propelling them to a 3—1win. liverpool —— they will be looking at liverpool —— they will be looking at liverpool thinking that they will be struggling now, and they have a chance to keep up the pressure on them to go above them. there is a big incentive for guardiola's team tonight. this is what he had to say about this game ahead of the match. goodison park is a tough game for us. goodison park is a tough game for us. depending for the results, the la st us. depending for the results, the

last fixtures, so the approach is the same. going there to try to win the same. going there to try to win the game. and of course you have the chance, because they don't play to be on top of the league. his side are coming up against a team that are coming up against a team that a re really are coming up against a team that are really struggling, everton aren't playing very well at the moment. their manager is under quite a bit of pressure. they come into this game having lost 3—1 to wolves at the weekend. never really getting out of first gear, even rudolph by their own fans as their alarming slump continues. —— even being booed off. the interesting side story to all of this is that everton fans are all of this is that everton fans are a little bit torn as to whether they even a little bit torn as to whether they eve n wa nt a little bit torn as to whether they even want the points tonight. some fa ns even want the points tonight. some fans i have spoken to say because a win for everton would help their rivals across stanley park, liverpool, they say this is a game they are happy to lose. not all fans
6:41 pm
agree. they are divided over this one. a lot of fans in a tricky situation. it could be a win-win situation! many thanks. we had some terrific fourth round replays in the cup last night, there is one place left to be taken in the last 16. it will go to either west bromwhich albion or brighton. derby are waiting for the winners, the former west brom strikerjason roberts is at the hawthornes, jason, there were chances at the amex 11 days ago for both sides but it was goaless..how do you see it going tonight? i see it being a case of who really wa nts to i see it being a case of who really wants to go after this game and attack the opposition? i think we saw in the first round that it was brighton taking the opportunity to get forward. it would be disappointing if they didn't take the chances they created. west bromwich had been scoring a lot of goals. they have the creative
6:42 pm
players to create chances. it will be interesting to see who is on the bench as well. i would like to see west bromwich get after brighton today and try to force the issue, create chances and score goals. team sheets always tell you how serious the manager is taking it. do they fa ncy the manager is taking it. do they fancy a cup run, the fans and managers? west bromwich specially because, would they trade that forgetting straight back up in the premier league? it's difficult to say and i think both managers will have those challenges. brighton needing to stay in the premier league. the focus will be getting promotion. i think there is no doubt that a cup run can help that. in the fifth round, there is derby at home waiting for them. there is a pathway to get into the final stages of the fa cup and that can only be good for the fans and football club. knowing darren the way i do, i believe people go after it, put out an
6:43 pm
attacking side that will try to create as many chances as possible. but we know brighton have been having maybe not the best of runs recently. but they have premier league quality and will be coming here wanting to ensure they get through to the next round of the cup. lets have -- lets hope for a good match. kick off at 80 five coverage starting at 7:55 p m. it's the first of the women's league cup semi—finals tonight. chelsea against the league leaders manchester city at the kingsmeadow stadium, jo currie is there for us tonight, as in previous years there is very little to choose between these two sides, both having very strong seasons and both will expect to lift silverware again. the only thing that might tip tonight's match is
6:44 pm
their history in the continental cup. 0ver their history in the continental cup. over the past five seasons they have reached three finals and lifted the trophy twice, whereas chelsea have never got past the semifinals. a while ago i spoke to both managers. he was what they said. we are champions of england and every game feels like a cup final for us. no different, we know the opposition, they know us. there's not a lot between the two teams. it will be interesting to see what settles the occasion tonight because competing for a final is what everybody works towards. competing for a final is what everybody works towardsm competing for a final is what everybody works towards. it is a trophy we hold close to our hearts. we have won it twice and won a lot of games in this competition, so all that does is means we approach the petition with a focus and drive to do well. this will be a difficult game and we know the history we have in this competition probably won't help us, it will be how we apply ourselves and our performance. there
6:45 pm
we go, even the managers say there is not much to choose between the two sides. it should be a cracking game. many thanks. welsh snooker players david john and jamie jones have been handed bans after a corrupton inquiry. former professionaljohn will serve a suspension of five years and seven months after admitting to fixing two matches. whilst jones, who reached the quarter—finals of the world championship in 2012, has been given a one year ban. he was cleared of fixing but failed to report an illegal approach. he'll be able to play again in october after his ban was back dated. fifa president gianni infantino is set for a second term in office. he's the only candidate named in june's presidential elections. former tottenham defender ramon vega had planned to stand against him but failed to win the required support. geraint thomas finished twenty seconds off the leader in today's individual time trial in southern spain, the five day race is his first of the year.

who was awarded one of 17 full contracts with the ecb today, now it's just up to the head coach to give her a first cap. mark robinson is quite keen on you are not out of the picture no matter what squad you are in even if it's not the main squad. it's an exciting time to be involved and i'm hoping that one day i can get my first cap and see what i can bring to the team. what can you bring to this team, lots of wickets? yes, hopefully, that is always the dream as an opening bowler. hoping to swing the ball early on depending on where we are playing. hoping to get the team off to a good start generally is my aim. was an exciting time to be coming into this squad. he will travel to india for a one—day series, a t20 series, than it is the same against the west indies at the start of the summer.
6:48 pm
the salary is all about the ashes, obviously. yes, it's a massively important time for us. —— in the summer. we are all looking forward to the build—up, particularly the ashes. the other is have had it too long! where are the england squad in global terms? and the women's game? the women's game gets better and better. attracting bigger audiences, it is huge. as a team we see ourselves where we were last year when we won the world cup, right at the top. there was a kind of disappointing world cup this time for the girls but we can 100% get it back and we are looking forward to the next world cup in australia. great britain's fed cup team are playing on home soil down in bath, the first of four days of competition which sees two groups of four nations taking part all with the ultimate aim to get promoted back to the world group.

0ur tennis correspondent russell fuller is there, russell they are under way it is going to be intense, the next four days. there is a lot at stake but great britain have made a great start. a promising start indeed in this complicated format. the first match of the first round—robin match against slovenia is already in the bag. katie walton has made great progress up the rankings in the last 12 months, at a career high of 83. just inside the top 200 this time last year. winning her opening match. at the moment the british number one, johanna konsa, is up against the slovenia number one as far as this tie is concerned. she is leading for games to two. if she can win her match the doubles effectively becomes academic, the

tie will be won and britain will concentrate on tomorrow's second round robin match against greece. fairly complicated behind you. the two top teams in these groups will play against each other on saturday, but there is a similar tournament going on in poland. this is the euro africa's. it is a long way back to the top. it is, always a frustrating process for the british players. 0n two fronts, the inability to get out of the level they are at, they have beenin of the level they are at, they have been in that level or below since 1993. and also the difficulty of getting a home tie. that is also 1993 since great britain last had a home tie. the first part of the equation has been improved, the lta decided if we can't get a home draw let's host the event. therefore it isa let's host the event. therefore it is a big advantage to great britain this week at the university of bath. 0nly this week at the university of bath. only one of these teams will survive the week. britain needs to
