across the land the chase is on for the egg—shaped ball and to find more girls and women wanting to give rugby a go. and even on a freezing winters night hundreds forgot about the snow and cold, as some like charlotte picked up a rugby ball for the first time. it is nice to know that i am able to play rugby. it is something i have never considered, a lot of the stigma around girls playing rugby has been removed and especially in clubs like this and in manchester and the uni and stuff. it is a good challenge. this is chaos, the biggest match i had ever been involved in. there is no structure. it is the thrill of picking up a ball and running with it. forward passes are allowed on this occasion, it is just about getting people to get a feel of the ball. i thought it was going to be hard but we were just running and having fun. i thought it was quite rough

but i feel like i really liked it because i like tackling and things like that. the session helps to build on the excitement surrounding the six nations, especially when you have england's top points scorer this season on hand to inspire you. but there were not any sessions like this when she was starting out. people think rugby is contact. this is the beauty of being a warrior, you have the opportunity to use a rugby ball but you are playing games that you used to play in football and netball. it is about getting girls involved in the game, as a whole rugby recognises the value of different shapes and sizes, so this is a nice opportunity for them to play with their friends and have a go. it might be a chance for people to fit in where they don't fit in other sports. there are hundreds of sessions being held right across the country and since inner warrior started some 12,000 women and girls have been picking up a ball for the first time. when everyone is here you feel like you are family
