the move a gesture of peace. a man has beenjailed for 8.5 years for the manslaughter of the daughter of the holby city actorjohn mickey. the men supplied his girlfriend with drugs and then filmed her when she was dying at a music event in dorset in 2017. her family told winchester crown court they had been torn apart by her death and their lives happy forever diminished. whee! louella, hours before her death. alongside her, her boyfriend, ceon. today, her mother described how the family's hearts and souls had been ripped out. her father said his daughter's life was cut cruelly short. regardless of the outcome of this harrowing trial, there were never going to be any winners. we began our life sentence on what would have been louella's 25th birthday. ceon‘s life sentence is knowing

that he didn't help louella to live. the couple had travelled to bestival in dorset for her 25th birthday weekend. there, she took the drug 2cp, given to her by broughton, and suffered a fatal reaction to it. as she lay dying in this wooded area, broughton filmed her, and failed to seek help until it was too late, despite the medical tent being just 400 metres away. sentencing him to 8.5 years, the trialjudge said broughton had only been concerned for himself, and didn't want to get arrested. at the time, he had had a suspended sentence for possessing a knife. a statement read on broughton‘s behalf said... finally, an apology, but there can be little comfort for louella's grieving family. today, her sister told the court that she tries every single day to understand why ceon didn't help louella.

ocean, a real problem due to dubai's ever evolving landscape. the bubbles behave like a barrier, restricting the movement of floating and subsurface pollution. for us what is very important is what solutions will prevail in the future. you will have pots of way sharks that are cleaning the waterways that are autonomous, that are self charging, self emptying, and they are co nsta ntly self emptying, and they are constantly feeding back data the end users. gathering data on water quality and areas of high contamination could help marina owners and local governments record and know more about the state of their shores. dubai municipality has just adopted two that will begin patrolling public waterways in a couple of weeks. a noble effort, but with an estimated 800 million metric tons of plastic ending up in our ocea ns every year tons of plastic ending up in our oceans every year it is tough to see how these tiny trawlers will make much of a difference. but at least for now, bottle by bottle, it's
1:46 am
helping us protect our planet. backin back in barcelona, i was once again surrounded by 5g science, the same as previous years, but this time it really felt like the tech was a lot more ready to make its mark. a few sg more ready to make its mark. a few 5g enabled phones are hitting the shops this year, but 5g is not really about a faster connection with our mobiles. it is more about connecting the things that we never connected before. stands were full of ideas about what that could mean for the future. a robot that can insta ntly for the future. a robot that can instantly mimic its driver's moves, imagine this happening when they are thousands of miles apart, and this is the kind of collaboration that 5g promises to unlock. wearing ar
1:47 am
goggles can let you interact with the same 3—d environments, but without the kind of uninterrupted connection 5g should provide, the experience will always fall short. so frustrating. this collaborative game is set up on wi—fi at the moment, the reason being to demonstrate how the haptic feedback isa demonstrate how the haptic feedback is a little bit delayed, whereas onceit is a little bit delayed, whereas once it is on 5g, well, it should all be happening at the right speed, exactly as i do things although i don't think it is going to improve my skills. and it can truly unleash the power of ar. we already have a! capabilities in our devices, image recognition, for example, helps to enhance our photos. i played a simple game which shows the speed that our devices can recognise object in an image. i am really trying my best here, but no matter how quick i feel like i am, the
1:48 am
computer is a lot quicker. the only thing is, at least i get it right every time. if you pull it all together with 5g, suddenly you have a very, very highly performing device that is connected to the cloud, with a very low latency, so you can actually have almost immediate response is based on where you are, your context, and that changes the way your device interact, and what you can do with it. for example, if you were actually going up on a run and you actually, now, your phone is capable of giving it notjust can't exercises but training as you go along, that is tuned to how your bodyis along, that is tuned to how your body is responding to it. 5g might make the relationships with our phones a bit more personal, on a grander scale, the entire travel infrastructure around us could be transformed. this is part of
1:49 am
millbrook proving ground, the place where cars and their components are put through their paces. but right now it is serving as a testbed for 5g, and what that could mean for autonomous and connect with vehicles. while 4g radios still need to be used at the moment, the rest of the trial sees movements and interactions tracked on a 5g network. it replicates what could in the future keep traffic safe and well managed. the number of cars today which have them in them, that will evolve into algorithms that help those centres connect. i think the really key thing is how are you going to use the data to be able to help make the end user's life easier7 help make the end user's life easier? and that is what is being looked at here. can we get the vehicle to be connected, can we make sure that we are transferring the data7 sure that we are transferring the data 7 can we sure that we are transferring the data7 can we do that in a safe and
1:50 am
secure environment, so that the data itself is secure? then can we make sure that the cars themselves are secure from each other, but also are they secure from unexpected events7 the much talked about low latency aspect of 5g means no delay, and thatis aspect of 5g means no delay, and that is of course vital when we are talking about moving traffic. this mclaren is travelling at 160 mph. but, ina mclaren is travelling at 160 mph. but, in a 200 metre radius, the cars would be able to wirelessly tracked each other, as well. even here, it feels like there were a lot of vehicles moving very fast, but of course, in the grander scheme of things, these are just a few. we are looking at all of the vehicles on all roads being tracked in this way, and that is a big job. when we talk about millions of devices to be connected to the network per kilometre square, then we talk about cars, homes, streets, hospitals, factories. what we have are
1:51 am
exploiting here, the technology, it parallel computing and parallel signal processing. so we have a large number of processing units in parallel, to do the number crunching in the mid— amount of time. in terms of ai, when we talk about the automation part of the 5g, when robots are connect that or devices are connect it, a! plays a very important role, in terms of understanding what the device wants to do, or what the device should be doing, and forecasting and predicting in future. but if all of these vehicles and all cars on the road are relying on that mobile phone network, what happens if it goes down? well, i think what we do asa goes down? well, i think what we do as a mobile operator is we continue to look at our network. we did suffer an outage with one of our partners and that was quite public. we are looking constantly at how we can make sure our network is more
1:52 am
resilient in the future, and i think one of the things that will come out of here is how do we make sure that the vehicle themselves are resilient, from a network with a view7 resilient, from a network with a view? before we reach a state of fully connected autonomy, though, 5g could have its work cut out on road and rail, providing more accurate live tracking and information. we know that from some of the work we have done on our smart cities report that from a train transportation point of view, rail sensors working on preventative maintenance can take out a50 million of lost productivity and that equates to about 2.6 hours per metre per year of time saved, and then from a road point of view, having a really good, connected 5g road management system could help ta ke road management system could help take out 10% of time waiting in traffic. and that, you know, for a 5.6 million commuters on the road, that would be a real saving. so many phones, so many promises. but do they all live up to what they are offering7 omar has been putting one
1:53 am
to the test. this is the agm a9 smartphone. it has features you would expect of many top rant devices, quick charging, finger print id, big screen, but it is also quite solid. now, this phone is on for your average user. it dslr are designed to survive the toughest of conditions. so tough, in fact, that the company say it is unbreakable. agm at advertise their phones as being able to survive quite some punishment, such as being able to be kicked like a football. so we asked the company if it could survive a hammer. they said yes. ah, right. that didn't take much. right. that's broken. that is smashed, but to be fair, maybe it wasn't designed to actually take a hammer to it. it is on completely. ok, ok. that'sjust
1:54 am
the screen. it's easily replaceable, no problem at all, and the back of the phone was proving a lot tougher, so the phone was proving a lot tougher, soi the phone was proving a lot tougher, so i got some help. are careful. 0h yes, and don't try this at home. ok, you've done it. you've cracked plastic. look at that. oh, it is lifted completely. so despite saying that we could use a hammer, agm came back to us and said that the military certified phone can endure a lot, being waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, but a hammer will compromise it. look at that. so he broke the camera lens. yes, a long way off from unbreakable, like the company said. omar there, way off from unbreakable, like the company said. omarthere, having way off from unbreakable, like the company said. omar there, having a smashing time. but you don't need to go that far to disconnect. so how

about this, a phone which will keep you connected when you need to be, but doesn't provide all of the distractions of a smartphone7 now don't think that this is just the basic device that can't do much. the idea is actually that it is a premium product. it has up to 270 hours' battery life, blackberry security, and a rather bold pricetag of £295. the company anticipates it will be bought by those who already have a smartphone but fancy the option of some calmer moments. well, that's it for the mwc special. you may not be able to do it on here but if you want to keep track of the tea m if you want to keep track of the team throughout the week you can try us on team throughout the week you can try us on facebook and twitter. thanks for watching.

hello. the record warmth of the past week has gone, but it still won't be cold for the time of year this weekend, but it will be wet at times and it will be very windy at times too, even stormy in places. one area of low pressure passes close by on saturday. another rapidly deepening area of low pressure will come in on sunday. so spells of wind and rain, but it's this second system on sunday, named by the met office as storm freya to raise awareness of potential impacts, that's going to pack the biggest punch, if you like, and we'll get to that in a moment. saturday starts still a little damp across eastern parts of the uk, with overnight rain clearing away. plenty of mist and fog, beyond a patch to the north—west initially.
1:57 am
and many of us will brighten up for a time. but remember that first area of low pressure. here comes the rain from it quite quickly into northern ireland, western scotland, parts of wales, and all of that will push further east as we go through the evening. so if you're not wet by day, you will eventually see some rain out of it. now, the winds start to strengthen too. these are average speeds. gusts will be stronger for northern ireland into western and northern scotland, could see some gusts in excess of 60 mph here. now, going into saturday night, it's the western isles that could well see some gusts up to around 70 mph, plenty of heavy showers rattling through north—west scotland, snow to the higher hills, maybe some rumbles of thunder. whilst many other places will turn drier, the rain never really clears from southernmost counties of england. and this is as storm freya comes in on sunday, initially with some wet weather pushing northwards, though there is some uncertainty about how far north that will get.
1:58 am
now, how much of northern ireland and scotland will see the rain from this — it may not be too much rain in northern scotland, there will be a few showers around, but all the while the winds are going to be strengthening as well. that's the second part of storm freya, first the rain, then the wind, as the deepening area of low pressure takes a track right across the uk, with the strongest winds on the southern flank. and that brings them really across parts of england and wales, where the met office has this yellow warning area. so it will be turning windier, particularly towards the end of sunday into sunday night. initially around some irish sea coasts, the coast of south—west england, 60—70 mph gusts, maybe up to 80 in a few spots, and elsewhere through that warning zone, some gusts 50—60 mph as storm freya moves east. but there's still some uncertainty about the detail here, so still keep watching if you've got plans on sunday. all starts to push away on monday, just to a few showers and lighter winds.
