de bruyne's superb cross. that was in the first four minutes. let's look in on the match now. it's live on bbc one. manchester city are still on the quadruple, so i would say they're going to be playing a large number of games. brighton have done well not to concede mortals, really. these are live pictures from bbc 0ne. —— concede more goals. 0nto the premier league, then. and the focus was on the bottom end of the table. is this the day that burnley secured their premier league status? it is probably too early to say that. with huddersfield and full of -- full that. with huddersfield and full of —— full already on, really the reason for that third spot. burley

played bournemouth today. burnley have been on a terrible run of form and it looked like continuing when bournemouth took the lead — after ashley barnes had headed—in an own goal. but as burnley dug in, bournemouth‘s defence went to pot — two quick goals before ashley barnes made amends by scoring at the right end. 3—1, the final. a crucial win for burnley ahead of the match against cardiff next. i thought so many parts of the performance was strong there. we know they're strong and it's not an easy place to come down to, and i thought we worked in all areas today, especially the mentality the mentality of going one down. there was no nervousness. we stayed clear minded. we came back quickly and affected the game from then on in. good shape, good energy and a good desire. and some seal good moments of quality, actually. another match at the lower end of the table. newcastle against crystal palace, with the winners surely
6:37 pm
going to be safe. you never know. it was a real six pointer at st. james park, and it actually looks like a one pointer. it was nervy and goalless for most of the game — although both sides had a goal disallowed. then in the 81st minute, wilfried za ha did what he does best — win penalties — and palace's skipper scored. it leaves them both in the table. we will have a look at that in the moment but i would say crystal palace should be safe now. disappointed, because i just disappointed, because ijust think we have to win, we had the control of the game, and we had a lot of... and then we made the mistake and we paid for that. and after that, we we re paid for that. and after that, we were in the last minutes. they were pushing and pushing. sometimes you cannot win but it's important not to lose. it's important to get beyond this.
6:38 pm
it's important to get beyond this. it's a lot of points to get with just... it is so nice to have those five games to play. no need to sit back on those lows and let those chances pass us by. we are going to try and get those points too. but it is certainly a very nice feeling when you have virtually got over the line from if not absolutely over the line. 0ne team not going to get over the line, confirmed, huddersfield. their fans must be looking forward to the end of the season. it's not getting any better for them, conceding four at home to leicester. they are ready for next season. leicester have gotten going under brendan rodgers. it took a while for the game to get going, but when it did it was goal—tastic. 4—1 it ended, jamie vardy scoring twice. how good has he been since rodgers took over? huddersfield put up a fight, scored their first penalty
6:39 pm
this season. but for both sides, this is now all about next season. huddersfield in the championship and leicester looking to build on their new found confidence. having a look at the bottom of the table. today really has been about the bottom of the table. newcastle are now down to 15th place, seven places above cardiff, points above cardiff. burley not out of danger but palace pretty much guaranteed safety. southampton, who lost to liverpool last but they don't place her next week. liverpool back ahead of manchester city, who have played one game less. they are playing at the moment in the fa cup. they play tottenham in europe on tuesday. lots going on for city. if city continue to be involved in all four trophies, they have a huge number of games to play before the end of the season. arsenal and chelsea play tomorrow and monday.

aston villa are still firmly in the playoff places after a comfortable win at sheffield wednesday and sixth placed bristol city drew. at the bottom end — ipswich won their first game in a very long time against bolton, who are just above them and in the midst of a financial crisis. rotherham also won. apologies, norwich fans! ijust i just wanted to talk about the championship. more goals in the norwich match than the celtic... no, they could have won the league tomorrow if rangers lose but instead celtic were held to a goalless draw at hoem to stjonhstone. meanwhile there was a feisty edinburgh derby at tynecastle where hibernian came from behind to beat hearts and move into fifth in the scottish premiership. the result, though, was overshadowed by some troubling behaviour from the fans, as patrick gearey reports. it is the issue that is clouding scottish football. for the second time in a week,

a flare is thrown onto the pitch in a scottish premiership match, delaying kick—off in the edinburgh derby. the scottish police federation says supporter behaviour is driving the game to a crisis and when peter haring headed hearts in front, the red mist descended once more. a similar incident happened after celtic scored against st mirren on wednesday. more followed. three minutes later, hibernian equalised. during daryl horgan‘s celebrations, another aberration. this time, a coconut was thrown onto the pitch, accompanied by yet more smoke. in the second half, those problems were extinguished. the most notable flare came in the build—up to hibs' second, scored again by horgan. this match may yet decide which of these sides can qualify for european football next season, but despite some late scrambling, hearts could not regain a foothold. this game was memorable enough for what happened on the pitch, but what landed on it may have further repercussions. patrick gearey, bbc news. in the battle at the bottom, dundee lost at home to aberdeen. hamilton v st mirren was a draw, and third—placed kilmarnock closed
