6:32 pm
the highest number of points as city match liverpool toe to toe. it is all good, and we have to carry on, we will carry on, there is no doubt about that. but i still think we will be champion. mo farah is involved in a war of words with another of the sport ‘s dre is ahead of the london marathon. and britain's triple para swimming champion 0llie hynd tells us why he's on the verge of quitting the sport after the worst year of his life. also coming up in the programme. paul pogba is the only player from outside of the top two clubs voted into the team of the year. and an expensive read as shaun murphyjust misses out on a 147 break at the world championships, and a £50,000 bonus.

so lots to get through tonight and we're starting with the premier league title race, because with just three games left to play — it's still oh—so close between the leaders manchester city and liverpool. both sides have been oustanding all season and win or lose — they're set to have two of the highest points totals in the history of the league. austin halewood takes a closer look for us. it isa it is a title race we have rarely seen the light of before. perhaps the most fierce of the modern era. as the running intensifies liverpool looked an old foe for a helping hand. they didn't get it. you that isa hand. they didn't get it. you that is a priceless goal. city rampant at 0ld is a priceless goal. city rampant at old trafford. this second—half goal enough to take them one point clear

at the top. we increase the level for the premier league last season. and liverpool chasing us in that situation in the same times, we have to control them, because what they have done is incredible but it is in oui’ have done is incredible but it is in our hands. the derby was an 11th straight league win for manchester city putting them firmly in the driving seat. liverpool already have more points than ever in the premier league with three games to go for eachit league with three games to go for each it is a straight shoot out for the title. if we do it, we do it, if we do not there are no regrets as long as we give always our best and i have seen that all season from the boys, but still however the season endsis boys, but still however the season ends is only the first step in that area. de liverpool running begins tomorrow night at home to huddersfield with newcastle and wolves to come, whilst for city it isa wolves to come, whilst for city it is a trip to burnley on sunday with leicester and brighton after that, and although neither of the size look like slipping up, the premier league has been known to provide late drama. a draw at west ham cost

manchester united in 1995. blackburn lifting the title on the final day of the season. in 2003 arsenal do at bolton and lost to leeds united in two of the final four matches. and liverpool have been here before. the peak to chelsea and a draw at crystal palace in 2014 enough to hand manchester city the trevi —— defeat to chelsea. brendan rodgers was the man at the helm for ring —— for liverpool that year. leicester host liverpool a week on monday and how the reds would love a favour from an old friend. so liverpool face the prospect of not winning the title despite only one defeat — to city — all season. a cruel blow for a side looking for their first league title since 1990. so we sent our reporter juliette ferrington to find out how the red half of the city is feeling about the title race. jurgen klopp has been very consistent that liverpool should only worry about events they can
6:36 pm
control themselves. he has been ramming home that message to the players, just take care of your own business, this liverpool team have proved adept at doing that with nine straight wins in all competitions. they still need a favour from elsewhere to get over the line in this premier league title race but i thinkjurgen klopp doesn't want anyone to waste energy worrying about things beyond their control andi about things beyond their control and i think you know is that liverpool just need to and i think you know is that liverpooljust need to do their end of the bargain which is to get a 97 points and i hope that is enough to bring the title back to anfield. this title race isn't over, there are still hopeful that the pool. for them this is just are still hopeful that the pool. for them this isjust the start. 0ne are still hopeful that the pool. for them this isjust the start. one of them this isjust the start. one of the standout quotes from jurgen klopp has been that this is the first chance for liverpool to win the premier league title, this group of players have come from nowhere. they were miles behind manchester city last year. city had been seen as this unstoppable force and the fa ct as this unstoppable force and the fact that liverpool are so close behind them with three games to go is testing out to you how brilliant this liverpool team have been. look
6:37 pm
at the age of the squad, their peak years are still ahead of them, jurgen klopp will be here for years, they have talented young players coming up, and crucially, they are not going to lose any key players. five years ago they lost luis suarez and that derailed them, now liverpool is a top club where players want to put down roots, they don't see it as a stepping stone, they want to commit their best years to the club because they win —— they believe they can win the big trophies from here. the pfa has announced its team of the year today. unusually it features only players from the top two lodge apart from one, manchester united's paul pogba. six manchester city players and fourfrom pogba. six manchester city players and four from liverpool make the tea m and four from liverpool make the team voted for by premier league players including raheem sterling and trent alexander—arnold. but the inclusion of paul pogba has caused some displeasure amongst experts and fa ns some displeasure amongst experts and fans who do not agree that his 13 goals this season and an inconsistent time so far are enough
6:38 pm
for him to have made the grade. he isa for him to have made the grade. he is a beautiful football player, no doubt about that, a world cup winner with a lot of qualities, and his performances this season have been exceptional but i don't think it deserves to get in the team of the year because his form has been erratic, certainly the most no part of the season when they did not get eye to eye, thejose mourinho part of the season, and then when 0le gunnar solskjaer took over, he was good, but he has not been consistent enough to be in the team of the year. he has magnificent ability as an individual but he does not deserve to be even close to this team. jimmy floyd hasselbaink gary lineker discussing paul pogba's place in the pfa team of the year. you can see more place in the pfa team of the year. you can see more of place in the pfa team of the year. you can see more of that on the premier league show on the —— on bbc two at 7pm. we've gathered some of

disgraceful conduct which mo farah denied. mo farah's opponent is the man he is nose to nose with here. that is the way the london marathon has planned it. he traded mock blows with the world record holder eliot kipchoge for the cameras by the river thames yesterday. the big races on sunday. farah has been fixed on another rival. he crossed paths with the great haile gebreselassie as a runner and prepared in ethiopia at one of gebreselassie's hotels, and mo farah used the london marathon media conference to tell the world about it. somebody opened my bag, took my money, at his hotel, and when you stay for two months in that hotel it is disappointing to know that somebody could have that, couldn't do nothing, and i was like, they

couldn't do nothing. here is haile gebreselassie at his hotel in ethiopia. he has made counterclaims against mo farah including suggestions of an assault, all of which farah and his representatives dispute. gebreselassie has a message on his phone for farah who warns him that he will use the london marathon news c0 nfe re nce to that he will use the london marathon news conference to raise the robbery issue. he told me before he left, he told me i am going to, directly, i'm going to spoil, destroy your hotel. it is like this. you can read it from his sms message. a spokesman for farah urged gebreselassie to get in touch to his legal team so that the matter can be resolved, and in the matter can be resolved, and in the meantime farah is preparing for the meantime farah is preparing for the biggest test of his career. his appearance at the london marathon
6:43 pm
running show yesterday was eye—catching. he emerged, apparently unscathed. farah faces one of the world's best one is over 26 miles in a race that seems more straightforward than the row that has immersed him in the last 24 of us. has immersed him in the last 24 of us. this is clearly bad timing. but as steve cram told us, mo farah is focused on the weekend's big race and winning his first london marathon. it is an unseemly spat between them. mo farah was not happy with how the situation was resolved out there. haile gebreselassie has responded as well because mo farah chose a public trans —— platform to say something about it. i think it will die down and their teams will get together and sort it out and in the meantime mo will be heading for this great clash on sunday. he is still incredibly focused. his one thought is about the weekend when i

chatted to him, and he has a great opportunity to be in front of big crowds in london, and to put in a great performance. i don't think it will affect him. one of the biggest uk betting companies has announced it is no longer sponsoring sports tea m it is no longer sponsoring sports team shirts or advertising on hoardings. gvc is calling for an extension to the new rules on tv advertising during sports broadcasting. i'mjoined by advertising during sports broadcasting. i'm joined by a sports broadcasting. i'm joined by a sports broadcasting expert to discuss this further. first of all, i don't want to belittle the problem of betting which we know is a huge problem, but this seems like turkeys voting for christmas. it does seem a bit like that but there's an interesting subplot. if you look at the call from gvc talking about spurt —— shirt sponsorship, there are other things that doesn't take into account such as horse racing and title sponsorship of the league, the

spfl for example, so absolutely a good idea, but there are other elements in terms of what would be better from that point of view in terms of the blanket ban versus this, but there are obviously financial implications for the company involved in that as well. we know that sponsorship of shirts is big business and a lot of money for clu bs big business and a lot of money for clubs in all levels of sport. and this is also part of a wider crackdown on betting advertising during sports broadcasts. can sport survive this commercially in the long run? yes, if you look at the history of tobacco sponsorship and alcohol sponsorship, sportjust shifts to different mechanisms in terms of where they get sponsorship from. what is interesting is that you look at the numbers and take english football as an example there are 26 clubs in the premier league and championship that have betting company sponsoring their shirts. so
6:46 pm
it would be a big hit to the industry in this respect, but they would also find means of getting sponsorship elsewhere, given their global reach and popularity. again, goodideain global reach and popularity. again, good idea in principle but limited to the wider gambling issues in terms of how it is played out and the impact on the industry as a whole. the snicko championship is well into the second round and there has been no cracking action. including a painfully close 147 minutes. hazel irvin runs up the action from it crucible. the opening thursday is the end of the first round matches and the beginning of the second round matches. let's tie at what happened this afternoon. it was the 11 speak —— 11 seed jack lisowski, the fourth seed to leave the crucible after a 10—6 defeat by ali carter. a tough match for him. ali

carter. a tough match for him. ali carter is a former finalist here twice, probably one of those he didn't want to draw, but he got him. ali carter's match play got him over the line, a bit more experienced with a bit more ring craft, and he deserved to win, ali. ali carter could go deep in this event. he doesn't seem to have a bad session because he seems always fully prepared for them. he doesn't approach it that way. he is always playing optimistic snooker and he has a great all—round game. playing optimistic snooker and he has a great all-round game. in the second round we had a blockbuster opening session between the guys who between them had conceded only one frame on the opening round, shaun murphy and neil robertson. what did you think of that? sometimes these matches do not live up to their billing but this one has. robertson was magnificent up to 3—0, he never let shaun murphy see a ball, then shaun murphy has come back to 5—3

behind. a high quality session from both players. four centuries and it does whet the appetite for another couple of sessions between these two tomorrow. they produced the goods. they were doing it in the first round. i don't know who will come out on top, it is going to be tough. at one stage neil robertson looked like he had a queue made of kryptonite to beat superman shaun murphy but somewhere along the line shaun murphy got some lead to protect himself! and shaun murphy had more respect by the end from us because of the way he came back from 3-0 because of the way he came back from 3—0 behind. because of the way he came back from 3-0 behind. crucible action continues on the red button and online from 7pm. paralympic classification — the way para—athletes are categorized according to their ability, is often contraversial. and it can be even more so, when an athlete is re—classfied after having been successful at a certain level. and that's what happened to british swimmer 0llie hynd, a triple paralympic champion

undoubtedly taking its toll. my own perception of myself and my self—worth was kind of two intertwined with that me as a swimmer if that makes sense. so when that was kind of ripped away, everything went with it. over the last year that has been the main thing that i've had to deal with and i have found myself a little bit and get some of that self belief back. the paralympic swimming team. ollie hynd was not the only british swimmer affected, a number of medal winning heroes have taken early retirement following a change to the classification. they have found it difficult as well and i'm kind of last man standing, really, so i feel a responsibility to keep going and keep trying to push through and not kind of let it beat me and just make sure that we don't lose too many people from the sport because that is something that we need to be aware of, but just
