7:33 pm
manchester city beat west ham united 3-0 manchester city beat west ham united 3—0 for the second time in three yea rs. the hammers are in their first season as a professional club and went behind when kiera walsh scored in the 51st minute. west ham simply ran out of steam and england international georgia stanway soon doubled city's lead. city weren't done though, west ham were now being overrun and lauren hemp completed her side's emphatic victory. city have added the fa cup to the continental cup they've already won. they narrowly lost the league to arsenal but remain unbeaten in domestic competition this season. capping off what has been a stellar run for them. live pictures from wembley
7:34 pm
they are getting their losers manner —— losers metals right now they were a lwa ys —— losers metals right now they were always going to be... it was always going to be a david and goliath battle. their first season as a professional site but an incredible game and incredible to watch. but we have to move on. now to the scottish premiership — and celtic have secured an eighth successive title with a convincing 3—0 win away at aberdeen. neil lennon's side are now two—thirds of the way towards a third consecutive clean sweep of domestic trophies after already lifting the league cup. patrick gearey reports. on the day celtic could win their latest trophy, they paid tribute to two men who won their most famous one. two of their european cup—winning side billy mcneill and stevie chalmers passed away recently. this one would be for them. a point against aberdeen was all they needed for the title. but the dons were reluctant to give it to them. one they ought to have scored here.
7:35 pm
they made good on that reprieve was, up on the back was michael lustig, with a good strike. another cross, another header, the difference between celtic and the rest was by the third goal—scorer. he was signed for a club record £9 million beyond the reach of any of their rivals. and the manager had fulfilled his brief, an eight straight scottish title. i'm very proud, very privileged. the moments in your life and career and you to savour them. we have a fantastic bunch of players in there. the mentality and the quality is fantastic. so as in mcneill and chalmers‘ day, celtic reign supreme. their dominance of scottish football for some and of course for others concerned. can anyone catch them?
7:36 pm
certainly not now, can they? so here's a check on todays scores. dundee are relegated after losing one nil at home to hamilton. that was dundee‘s tenth straight defeat. kilmarnock are up to third after beating hearts at tynecastle. the matches between motherwell and st mirren, and stjohnstone and livingston both ended in 1—1 draws. so here's confirmation of the table. celtic 12 points clear of their nearest rivals rangers who host hibernian tomorrow. dundee at the bottom — their relegation confimed today. nobody able to catch celtic at the moment. we will have more news letterhead. but neal warnock‘s delegation for cardiff city. now for news on a big night ahead for premier league title chasing liverpool and relegation for neil warnock‘s cardiff here's holly cardiff have been relgated from the premier league after they were beaten comfortably by crystal palace. neil warnock‘s side needed a win to avoid going down. andros townsend's strike making
7:37 pm
all the difference to cardiff's future in the top flight — 3—2 the final result after goals from wilfired zaha and michy batshuayi. bobby reid scoring a consolation for the home side in the 90th minute. not enough though to avoid chamionship football next season. at the other end, maybe the pressure is starting to take its toll on tottenham they had the chance to seal a top—four position and thier place in next season's champions league but ital went very wrong for them at bournemouth. -- it —— it went very —— it all went very wrong. they went down to 9 men after son heung—min and juan foyth were sent off — and were eventually broken down by the hosts as james burford reports with one eye on wednesday's mammoth chamber chip final, many were surprised by the starting 11. but eyebrows raised highest when bournemouth‘s goalkeeper was announced for some 19—year—old mark travis. what do you do for someone so young? fire off a warning shot.
7:38 pm
lucas morris's half line effortjust wide. that hiccup aside, this turned into a flawless keeping performance. travis frustrated some of tottenham plus i top stars. again, and again spurs certainly couldn't lay a glove on him. a fiery half with a yellow spread on a red. son heung—min, often lauded for his cool lost it. but he wasn't the only one. juan foyth brought on at half—time lasted only two and a half minutes. spurs down to nine, a chance for the cherries to blossom. which they did. nathan ake‘s header despite the brave resistant sealed all three points. defeat means a spurs chase for a top four place could go down to the final day. i think we feel disappointed. very painful to lose two players. but we need to move on, nothing to say now. we are not going to change
7:39 pm
the result and the decision. and of course move on we have to head to the finals against ajax. it's in our hands to be in position the season. no one picked us to be in this position early in the year. so we would just do what we do. better news for wolves who are in seventh heaven after beating fulham one nil this afternoon. leander dendoncker‘s volley in the second half moves them a step closer to european football next season. that will be confirmed if leicester fail to beat premier league leaders manchester city on monday. nobody expected us to win because we face a tough team. it was a tough game. i was pleased how we finished at home. it has been an amazing
7:40 pm
amount of support and all they have given us. it was good to celebrate together for some now we get a moment to our families. let's stick together. west ham enjoyed a comfortable victory over southampton. 3—0 the final score as their bid for a top io finish continues. marko arnautovic scoreing twice, his first goals since january, with ryan fredericks adding a third with his first premier league goal. it moves west ham to within a point of the top half of the table. still to come this evening the two—horse race continues at the top of the table it's liverpool's turn to go back top if they can beat newcastle this evening. failure to do so would mean manchester city could seal the title on monday if they beat leicester. newcastle of course managed by liverpool's former champions league winning manager rafael benitez. liverpool's current boss jurgen klopp has been in a philosophical mood ahead of the match.
7:41 pm
am i happy at this moment and satisfied? no because the season isn't over but then i look back on it and the performances... we showed, the games we played, the goals we scored, so many things and some in difficult situations. you don't know even 5% of our difficulties because we don't speak about it but they are still there. internally not with the boys, is it good, in the end you could find a line—up and these boys deliver and deliver and deliver. so that was amazing. nothing better. still two games to go and when we look back, then we will see what we think about it. we are professionals we have to do ourjob. my relationship with the city, with liverpool, with the club and fans, is there. i was there six years, we won some
7:42 pm
trophies and some very good memories. at the same time i played with chelsea with newcastle united. but we have to do theirjob that day. i'm sure jurgen klopp is in the same position and will try to do his best for his fans and then we have 52,000 fans in our stadium. it's the last home game of the season. so i think everybody understands that we are professionals and we are trying to do our best. so let's take a look a the situation stilljust the one point between the top two with just the two games left each if liveprool don't win tonight — it could be all over if manchester city beat leicester on monday. spurs defeat to bournemouth means they'll have to wait to guarantee their spot in the champions league next season. wolves moved a step closer to a seventh—placed finish and potentially european football next season after that one nil win over fulham. just that relying on that result on monday wbetween leicester and manchester city.
7:43 pm
down at the bottom of the table cardiff are relegated. theyjoin fulham and huddersfield in the championship next seaons. i think some of the fans were cheering for neil warnick. so... you wonder if this chance will continue if they don't. we will find out next season. thanks holly. some other football news for you and it's been an extremely tense day at the foot of league two but macclesfield town, managed by sol campbell, have avoided relegation after a 1—1 draw against cambridge. that means that notts county, the oldest league club in the world and founding member of the football league, join yeovil in dropping out of the league. notts lost 3—1 at swindon. crusaders have won the irish cup after a 3—0 win over championship side ballinamalla rd united. the goals came throuthordan 0wens, philip lowry and ross clarke in theirfirst irish cup win since 2009. the victory means that they'll play
7:44 pm
in the europa league ist qualifying round next season. newcastle have been relegated from rugby union's premiershuip news on that in a moment, but the top two met in the league today, with both exeter and saracens guaranteed of a home semi final in the play offs. —— relegation out of the premiership. that gave saracens the chance to make eleven changes to their side, not that you would have known as they won 38—7. paul frostick was watching. a clash between the top two sides in the premiership would normally have real significance. but both saracens and exeter secured home semi—finals. some key names were rested,
7:45 pm
but for those who did get a rare start, the intensity wasn't lacking. the chiefs applying much of the first—half pressure. but the windy conditions helped the ball into the hands of alex lewington. he had the first try in the first a0 minutes. god then the floodgates opened. his second try having not scored since november. it was the power of wallaby will skelton that allowed nick tompkins to make it 21—0. and two late scores from dom morris were enough to secure a bonus point victory for them. they now turn their attention to next weekend's european cup final. so the big news, newcastle are down. they needed to beat gloucester and secure maximum points to stand any chance of avoiding relegation but they lost 28—19. always tricky with gloucester in the play off places in third. northampton regain possession of the final play—off berth with a comfortable bonus—point victory against worcester. tennis and british number one johanna konta has been beaten in the morocco 0pen final in three sets by maria sakkari. this was konta's first
7:46 pm
final since 2017, and her first ever on clay. she took the first set comfortably 6—2 and was a break up in the second, but it all fell apart with sakkari battling back to claim her first wta title. it would have been konta's first tournamnet win in two years. let's takle a look at the day's other stories. in hockey's new look fih pro league — great britain lost to spain in a shootout after their game finished 1—1 in normal time. the tournament provides teams witha chance to qualify for the olympics and world cup — they went down 3—2 in the shootout. fabio quartararro has become the youngest rider to claim pole position in moto gp. the french rookie broke the track record injerez and will start the spanish grand prix alongside his petronas yamaha team mate franco morbidelli. britain's cal crutchlow will start from sixth.

7:48 pm
it we witness this afternoon with several gargantuan performance. he was gone and the second session. he just hang around. he managed to cling on. it was a brilliant match. he was fabulous. he goes to the final and now all of the trauma which... higgins eventually final and now all of the trauma which. .. higgins eventually fell over the line after half an hour. falling over the wine is all well but forcing the decider is another. and forcing with a 139. absolutely my mental. the greatest player, one of the greatest players that is ever played. 0ne of the greatest players that is ever played. one of the toughest match players if not anybodyjust lots of courage. watts of character. very composed and calculated and very cool. he played, he had to dig very,
7:49 pm
very deep and boy did he dig deep. i felt so sorry for doug gilbert and a lot of players on the tour always lucky because they're onto the semi—final which is fantastic but what a treat that both players served up to us today. and you have to put this in some historical context because knotts since the days ofjimmy white, is kay and stephen hendry. they haven't reached three night finals in a row. it's a testa m e nt to three night finals in a row. it's a testament to his long javid —— quantity. 12 days for his 44th birthday with several itch shows that the heart and brain uses on this wonderful 12 foot by six table sentiment good set every time he comes in the nude —— doors of this theatre. he was considered a 25 to one shot. it's ridiculously back on it now. judd trump resumed his semi final with qualifier gary wilson about a quarter of an hour ago.

7:51 pm
the profile of women's motorsport and providing more female drivers with a greater chance of competing at the highest level. today though it was a chance for chadwick to soak it all in, by taking top spot on the podium. as nick parrott reports. to get to the top and motorsport, you need the chance to showcase your talents. and wseries chose the grand stage of hockenheim for their first race. 18 drivers from around the world led from the start by a briton, jamie chadwick. with identical cars, it is all about driver talent. the opening lap was packed with drama and a mistake from chadwick cost her the lead. an even bigger error from the canadian ended her race as well as finland's kimmy leinen. as soon as the race restarted chadwick was back in front. with just six races in the season,
7:52 pm
every point is vital, the champion will take home half $1 million. she fended off a challenge from alice powell to take the chequered flag. the 20—year—old has also made a mark in the sport. if wseries is a success, it could help take her to the next level. she certainly has made a great start, hasn't she? great britain's 0liver townend's dominance continues at the badminton horse trials — the world number one leads going into the final stage. townend was one of very few riders who managed a clear round ofjumping during today's cross—country phase. 0ur reporter lizzie greenwood hughes has been following the action. as they begin packing them after the day's cross—country it has been a really good day for british eventing and a good day for the sport because this has been an ideal day across country. they tested all their horses and riders here but in i'm joined by the british eventing performance director. dicky waygood. you must be happy because you have four britons in the top ten, first and second plates.
7:53 pm
it has been a fantastic day. 0bviously 0liver has had a great day. two in the top—ten and piggy was a class act as well. we have this to top places at the top. 0liver has a pole in hand and a few times at penalties tomorrow. but then behind piggy it is really close. it is really not over. tomorrow is a clean sheet and we start again. just about the day's cross—country. eric winter has done a greatjob. no injuries, the horses are all safe but we have had plenty of thrills and spills. not that many people got round. it's been a really challenging cross—country course. the riders i think who have really enjoyed it, the ground has been fantastic. but to get the time they have had to take the racing line everywhere. and is been taking that racing line keeping your eye and what is going on, and then suddenly clicking into plan b or into a coping
7:54 pm
strategy so if you just sat there and thought you were going to have an easy ride, you didn't have a chance. britain are the reigning world champions and so the european championship year. you will have a difficultjob with the selectors on who on earth you would take to the european championships. we get to take six riders to europeans. four on the team and three individuals. 0ur mind is always thinking europeans and then tokyo and beyond. a lot will depend on tomorrow because tomorrow is the final phase of this equestrian triathlon. it will be taking place behind me. you can catch up on all the cross—country highlights on bbc two from 12:30pm tomorrow. and then on the red button. got to eve ryo ne and then on the red button. got to everyone here. —— good luck to everyone. now let's stay with horses, but focus on a sport with a difference. the mounted games tests a riders skill, but gives those involved a chance to enjoy themselves with fun challenges.
7:55 pm
and that is exactly what mike bushell did as he gave it a go. as the home nations battle it out for the title at the annual royal windsor horse show. mike's proved it's definitely not as easy as you might think. music. and they're off. and back on again. the agility needed in the mounted games which have been testing the skills of young riders since the 19505. more imagination on display here at the grand national. come on, get over the stepping stones. they started in 1956 by the duke of edinburgh as a way of treating a pony competition for ordinary kids with ordinary ponies now there are 250 mounted games clubs across uk. it is a fun sport, a silly sport, but a fantastic race. they do well which is great.
7:56 pm
you have to have good balance and speed. falling off hurts. what does it give you confidence wise? friends, the feeling of winning. while there is a game for children, there is an adult game as well and this‘ll be my trusty steed, lucy. one of the things you learn isjumping on and off a horse. marcus makes it look so easy. while i... that's it. keep that left hand there. it may have only bending pony but i was nowhere near. it would not stop me climbing on board in the traditional manner. we have done it. well done lucy.
7:57 pm
notjust the horse that has to perform and we are over. thankfully in some races you don't have to be on the pony. it is all about trust in this and i am handing off the post to alex. they are very agile and it is all about being a pair with a pony working with the ponies. is the pony and rider working together? they are jumping off the great speed so the need to trust their ponies and each other. this week the teamwork of all the home nations will be put to the test be it in the balloon race, the one which you stack parcels, the sock drop, the sword run or even the sack race. come on! but they were saving the most bizarre event, the milk race, until last. and there we are. ican i can see where going at all. ——
