and they say they are going to try to disrupt this trade, these migrant crossings, using all the resources at their disposal. now it's time for a look at the weather with nick miller. the uk recorded it highest temperature of the year so far today but the heat isn't evenly across the uk. the best sunshine at the end of the day is across east anglia and south—east england. elsewhere affirmative cloud round. elsewhere a fair amount of cloud round. wetter later in the evening across northern ireland over night, rain spreading northwards across scotland and parts of wales and western england. quite muggy where it has been hot overnight across the south—east of the uk but everywhere will have a mild night to come. breeze picking up three sunday. we start with cloud and outbreaks of rain and showers towards the north and west. this area of showers moves further east during the day. it weakens as it moves east. the breeze continues to pick up particularly close to low pressure towards the north—west of the uk and it turns quite blustery here.
4:31 pm
sunny spells and some heavy showers. a big range of temperatures to end the weekend. most of us in the teens but still ahead of the weather front in east anglia some spots into the upper 20s.

camp today to begin the search. in madrid, fans gear up for this evening's all—english champions league final — liverpool versus tottenham. and now on bbc news, victoria derbyshire takes a look back at some of the highlights from her programme this week. hello and welcome to our programme. for the next half an hour, will bring you some of the exclusive and original journalism bring you some of the exclusive and originaljournalism we have broadcast over last week.. so far this year, 100 people have been stabbed to get in uk. for one community in particular, the crisis is so acute that parents are sending their teenagers to somalia and other parts of east africa for their own
4:34 pm
safety. we have been told hundreds of british teenagers have been sent by their somali parents to parts of the world that have been associated for many years with violence and chaos. 0ur producer went to track down some of those who have swapped violence in london for a new life in africa. you take your child back to africa. you take your child back to africa. it is safer there than it is in london. if you look a specific way or live in a specific area and you are of a certain age, you are targeted, and you will be stabbed. my targeted, and you will be stabbed. my mum feels i am safer here than anywhere else in the world. when you are a parent sending your child back, it is a risk you are taking but unfortunately some parents feel like it is a risk to leave their kids in the streets of london. as a somali community, we are the
4:35 pm
forgotten people, completely. there are mothers are now sending their teenagers back home, saying it is much safer than living in london. she said she took her son back to somalia, he spent a year there, during that time he acquired an education, he was a studious child again, he was teaching other children in fact. he enjoyed his time, he actually said his preference was to stay in east africa. she brought him back in november 2018. she had been back in the country for just 17 days.
4:36 pm
2018. she had been back in the country forjust 17 days. he received a text message from somebody she didn't know. he was in the middle of eating a meal, he went outside and he was stabbed. he was stabbed four times. he was stabbed four times. he has been completely traumatised by the experience and the way in which she was stabbed was very traumatic. they damaged his bladder, his kidneys, they did a properjob on him. all of his organs have been damaged permanently. the thing that would have kept him safe was to stay in somalia for longer. she says she has no doubt about that. hundred percent more safe tha n about that. hundred percent more safe than london for her children.
4:37 pm
0ne one problem that they are all escaping that is universal to all of them is violence. knife crime, gun crime, drug related issues. london is not a war zone, we know that, but there are targeted crimes. is not a war zone, we know that, but there are targeted crimesm is not a war zone, we know that, but there are targeted crimes. if you look a specific way or live in a specific area and are a certain age, you are targeted, and you will be stacked. —— stabbed. you don't know when the air strike is going to land on you but you are thinking, it can come anytime, and you want to get out. london is the same. the mothers are saying, my son is 17, 18, his
4:38 pm
friends have died, i am not waking —— waiting for that air strike to come to my house. in those few years i was doing my a—levels, it was tough. why? seeing people dropped, the every other day. it is not the place to be for a teenager, i would say. i have lost close friends. they are people in my neighbourhood, someone are people in my neighbourhood, someone i really knew who lost his life. he dropped together? yes. he got stabbed. that was one of the reasons i came back here. it opened my eyes, man. it wasjust recently, it wasjust before i came here. when i see young adults, i see the 17—year—old that i was, walking around, because i know what they are going through. if i can say one person, i will feel good about myself. i came out here when i was quite young, actually. it was when
4:39 pm
problems were at a peak. 17, 18. one of the things i will never forget is the fact that when you walk in the streets, you don't have to look over your shoulder, the fact that when your shoulder, the fact that when you are out and about, you know you are not being targeted, because at that age there was no way on earth that age there was no way on earth that i could have easily have walked into different areas of london. but here i can travel in the city, go and visit whoever i want to, get in and visit whoever i want to, get in a cab or get on the back of a motorbike and it was good, i felt a sense of freedom. but right now, for these kids, it is life or death. sense of freedom. but right now, for these kids, it is life or deathlj had a good childhood, growing up was lovely until i get of an age to start getting in trouble with the police and what not. it stopped being fun, it started becoming numb —— money. being fun, it started becoming numb — — money. everyone being fun, it started becoming numb —— money. everyone wants nice things, how are you going to get it?
4:40 pm
do you want the easy way of the hard way? everybody goes for the easy way. selling drugs and robbing people, not working nine to five. people don't want their friends seeing them stacking shelves. if you are stacking shelves, you are going to be known as the guy that works and 95. i've been in and out of kenya a few times. you name it, he has probably done it. when i came here, it was a clean sheet, nobody knew me or my history. they have people that look like you going after you. that is the people you have to watch out for. people that are dressed like new. you are not worried about anyone else. your parents, didl worried about anyone else. your parents, did i feelyou worried about anyone else. your parents, did i feel you are safer here? yeah, 100%. my mum feels i am much safer here than anywhere else in the world. two weeks ago, i was speaking to one of the payments of the young people and she said to me, now that my son is in africa, i
4:41 pm
sleep better at night because every timei sleep better at night because every time i heara sleep better at night because every time i hear a police siren or a hero i would think the police have arrested my child or the ambulance is going to save my son that has been stabbed or shot. what about now? tell me about the sirens. she said, ican't now? tell me about the sirens. she said, i can't even hear any sirens now. knife crime has literally threatened the fibre of the somali community, it has shaken us all. as a parent, do you wait for your child to be killed ? a parent, do you wait for your child to be killed? 0r a parent, do you wait for your child to be killed? or does the parent ta ke to be killed? or does the parent take a decision? quite a drastic decision to take him all the way back to wherever that child is from, originally.
4:42 pm
iama i am a local councillor in islington andi i am a local councillor in islington and i am i am a local councillor in islington andiama i am a local councillor in islington and i am a mother of four. i am a somali and i came here to london as a refugee some years ago. at the end of the day, we are all parents, and pa rents of the day, we are all parents, and pa re nts ta ke of the day, we are all parents, and parents take the precedence of the safety of the child. either your child is in a gang or your child will innocently be killed. you know, standing somewhere, and it is mistaken identity. and it keeps on happening. you can say every five families, there are two families who have taken the children back home. i mean, i have been working with somali parents for a very long time, and a lot of them have no clue what their sons are up to. they have no idea and they actually think their sons are doing really well, until the day after they find out their son is killed, their son is in prison, their son is dealing drugs.
4:43 pm
that is massive. and as the somali, need today, we are the forgotten people, completely. —— as the somali tea —— as the somali community, we are the forgotten people. the child tells me he has been going to college, and suddenly there was a knock on the door and it is the police saying, whatever your child has been telling you, that is not the case. as soon as i see people dying in my area, i thought it is not work —— worth it. i could have been out on the street selling drugs. i know now that kids in kenya, school is, they put that first, do you understand? they put education first because they think thatis education first because they think that is what is going to take them out of the slums and everything. when you get sent back to your country by your parents, i am not going to lie to you, it is the worst feeling, it is like feeling you are
4:44 pm
going to prison. 0k? because your mum is the judge, going to prison. 0k? because your mum is thejudge, she going to prison. 0k? because your mum is the judge, she sent you back, she knows how long you are going for, you can't come back until the judge has let you free. when you are pa re nt judge has let you free. when you are parent sending your child back, it isa parent sending your child back, it is a risk you are taking. but unfortunately some parents feel like it is also a risk leaving their kids on the streets of london. it starts with your child being excluded from school. and that is the pipeline of, you know, from exclusion into the pupil referral unit, next thing you know, your child is dealing drugs. pa rents know, your child is dealing drugs. parents don't know how to deal with this, this is not something they have encountered before, this is a british problem, and is a problem we have fallen into. the new community that has come from the horn of africa or anywhere in africa, they have come because they have fled
4:45 pm
conflict, war, they have come without a strong educational background themselves. mums have got limited english and they are being forced to take jobs, cleaning and may be carers, and they are away most of the time, from their families. the younger children are taken families. the younger children are ta ken over families. the younger children are taken over parenting from their parents. we are talking about the somali community or the black and ethnic minority community in general, nobody cares. she knows an example of a young boy living in west london who had asked to be taken back home and she said the day they booked his plane ticket was the day he was killed. he was born here, why should he have to go to a plane to west africa when his home is here? it is not the answer but these are desperate parents, they want their children to live, it is a life
4:46 pm
and death situation, literally. it is survival. you can watch all our films it is survival. you can watch all ourfilms on our website. it is survival. you can watch all our films on our website. next, it is survival. you can watch all ourfilms on our website. next, with more than 90 million monthly users worldwide, the online game roblox is one of the most popular games on the market for children, but how safe is it? disturbingly, we spoke to one pa rent it? disturbingly, we spoke to one parent who told us that child was groomed despite parental settings being switched on. roblox has taken the online gaming world by storm. users build their own games and create their own characters with coloured blocks and it is multiplayer, meaning you can interact with other people. it is estimated there are more than 2a million playing the game in europe per month, many of those are children. but i have discovered some people are accessing a much darker side to roblox. they were talking
4:47 pm
about rape, they were talking about sexual activities, it was pornographic. with concern growing about children's access to content, some parents believe roblox need to ta ke some parents believe roblox need to take more responsivity for online safety. surely they can block it for stop it, and if not, they shouldn't be allowed. fun, outgoing, love socialising, making friends and loved life. sarah said her son was a happy child until after a difficult period at school a couple of years ago. he then started to play roblox. we have disguised sarah and her son for legal reasons because of what happened to him.
4:48 pm
sarah and her son for legal reasons because of what happened to himm seemed like an innocent game, we went on and made sure all the privacy settings were on there, the pa rent privacy settings were on there, the parent or blocks to make sure that there were no —— no messaging. parent or blocks to make sure that there were no -- no messaging. but sarah and her husband began to notice a difference in their son's behaviour. it was gradual, it was when you wanted him to go out and do things that he enjoyed and we went into the messages, and we were very, very shocked by what we found. what did you find? we found that... sorry... there was some normal people teen stuff and then we came across pictures that were inappropriate and at first we were shocked and didn't realise it was our son. until we noticed in the background that it was our house. it
4:49 pm
was horrifying. and i was physically sick. can you give an idea of how graphic some of the messages were? they were talking about rape, they we re they were talking about rape, they were talking about sexual activities, it was pornographic. roblox told us they cannot comment on individual cases but are committed to protecting the online safety of children and the in game chat has very stringent filters and any photo exchange will have been done on a third—party app. sarah's story is an extreme case but it has made me wonder about other children who play roblox. how easy is it for them to come across explicit content when playing the game? game often upload videos of gaming sessions to youtube and it is clear from a quick search there was a whole host of inappropriate content that has appeared on roblox and explicit m essa g es appeared on roblox and explicit messages are being shed within the
4:50 pm
game itself. i havejust decided to go into one of the rooms to get a sense of what it is like, straightaway when i went in there i was approached by a character who seemed to stand right next to me, there is a conversation going on in there is a conversation going on in the corner, people saying, hey, sweetie pie. kiss kiss kiss. although there is nothing really cd, it is quite scary how so many people are trying to talk to you so quickly and a message hasjust popped up now saying, child for sale, slave, work free, child slave here, find a master, which seems quite dark, really, for a game that is aimed at children. roblox say they are relentless in shutting down inappropriate material and have 24—hour moderators. inappropriate material and have 24-hour moderators. out of 100 people playing, how many would see red things? —— rude things? my friend here says all of them. who
4:51 pm
agrees? these ex police officers go into schools across the country, warning children about the worst case scenarios. john says parents don't realise people have ways of communicating, even if parental controls are on and chat settings are disabled. unfortunately, people don't know they are looking for children who have turned off the chat because if they can get them on toa chat because if they can get them on to a third—party app, they can hold conversations with them. they also work with parents and teachers to educate them as well. the staff's knowledge isn't as good as the children and the parent's knowledge isn't as good as the children. having open discussion with children, whatever parents do, don't ta ke children, whatever parents do, don't take things away from them, don't ban things, actually to have discussions and say, let's have a look at that, let's look at the danger, and tried to get children to
4:52 pm
make the decisions themselves. if they are empowered to do that, they are working with you on being safe. people say just turn the are working with you on being safe. people sayjust turn the chat off. it is not where you hear or read, it is what you see. it is notjust concerns about messaging but also how the game itself can be played, which has made payments that we have spoken to have concerns, including dad ian. what sort of things did you see on there? straightaway, you see these people, i said to my son, what are they doing? he said i don't know. you click and it is features like lay down, or starjumps orjump or whatever but one said follow me, lay down, and this other person laid on top of me. again, using features. and moving it. ithought, i can't
4:53 pm
believe this. and then, don't go. this is what the person said, if you goi this is what the person said, if you go i will kill myself. and i thought, what? what is this? i was swearing, i thought this is disgusting. they know it is full of kids. the people on there, they are not children, on this particular part, they weren't kids. if everyone knows and it is on youtube, why is it not being deleted? companies like roblox you take more responsivity? 100%. a quick google search brings up 100%. a quick google search brings upa 100%. a quick google search brings up a whole host of sinister sort of, and it is paedophile type stuff. there is no sugar—coating it. that is it is. ian says he contacted roblox but never had a response. is it is. ian says he contacted roblox but never had a responsem was a gradual thing. just show me this... sarah also said she
4:54 pm
contacted roblox. i contacted them and asked them, how did this happen? why did you let this happen to my child? they didn't respond until. nothing at all. children can be paid on these games. these predators can say, i will pay for you to get the game upgraded, and pay for the children to do what they want them to do. roblox don't seem to be protecting the children in any way from theirs. in fact, they gain from it. do you feel like roblox as protecting paedophiles? they are totally protecting paedophiles because when we took it at the police, the police wanted access to the ip addresses of these people, and roblox refused. they said, no. they wouldn't let our police have anything to do with it because we we re anything to do with it because we were in the uk and they are an american company. the police force
4:55 pm
told us they only have the authority told us they only have the authority to investigate criminal offences which have occurred in this country and in this country, the people contacting sarah's son were outside the uk. roblox told us players can report inappropriate behaviour and users can be suspended or have their accou nts users can be suspended or have their accounts deleted. how was your son now? he is in a very bad way. he... he is broken. and so are we. she sobs. it is life destroying, and i will never ever be able to take those pictures or words out of my mind. that's it for this week. if you want to get in touch with us, e—mail victoria@bbc.co.uk. victorious
