first major title. new zealand win the netball world cup beating defending champions australia by a single goal in the final. and adam peaty breaks his own 100m breaststroke world record at the world swimming championships in south korea. hello and welcome to the programme where we start with the golfing news that ireland's shane lowry has won the open championship at royal portrush in northern ireland by six strokes. he finished well clear of the rest on 15 under to also claim his first major title and our sports correspondent andy swiss was watching. it was the stuff of sporting dreams. portrush perfection as shane lowry gave the home fans a hero. he'd begun his round to deafening expectation but his opening swing suggested the nerves were jangling, and his 4—shot lead

well, the long—awaited return of the open here to northern ireland was always going to be emotional but this was something else. rarely has this famous event seen a more popular champion. andy swiss, bbc news, royal portrush. new zealand have won their first netball world cup since 2003 with a 52—51win over 11—time winners australia in the final. the aussie diamonds reached this stage in the english city of liverpool unbeaten — but the silver ferns proved too strong and our reporter kate grey was there. after ten days of spec macular net for world cup action here in liverpool, the final came down to the finest of margins which saw new zealand victorious over the defending champions australia by just one goal. the new zealanders we re just one goal. the new zealanders were in control for the majority of the match with a 3— goal lead at halftime which meant that australia had to make some changes. they struggled in the third quarter and

liverpool, it really has been the greatest netball world cup to date with record numbers of tickets sold in this arena being packed our day after day. new zealand may be the new world cup holders but the sport of netball is the real champion here. it finds itself on a platform like never before and some are saying, this is just like never before and some are saying, this isjust the like never before and some are saying, this is just the start of the netball. simon yates won stage 15 of the tour de france as the reigning champion geraint thomas gained time on the overall leader julian alaphilippe. it's britain yates' second victory of this year's tour as he finished 33 seconds ahead of thibaut pinot in second. alaphillipe retains the yellow jersey — but thomas gained 27 seconds on him as the frenchman struggled up the climb. thomas lost time on saturday but a better performance means he remains in the hunt to retain the title when the riders resume on tuesday after a rest day. so let's have a look at the general classification. alaphilippe's lead cut to just over a minute and a half

hello. it has been a bit of a mixed weekend weatherwise but as we head through this coming week, it's going to be all eyes on the temperature because things are turning increasingly hot and humid too. not dry for all of us. some rain in the north—west during the course of monday and later in the week, we're expecting some thundery downpours to develop. and the reason for the heat and humidity is that we've got high pressure sitting to the east of the uk, with the winds rotating around that, drawing in all this hot air from continental europe, and it is particularly hot. in fact, in paris, we could see temperatures up

to 42 celsius later this week, which would break the all—time temperature record recorded in the french capital. we've had this line of cloud and weather fronts pouring in from the atlantic during sunday night and through the day on monday, they're going to be bringing further rain, initially across northern ireland the west of scotland. south, a mild and quite a murky start to your monday morning so quite a lot of that low cloud, lingering around western hills and coasts through the day but elsewhere, cloud should tend to in and break across much of england, northern ireland too. rain pushing its way northwards, so sitting across western scotland for much of the day were it will be quite heavy and persistent but in the sunshine, temperatures up to 28 or 29 degrees. it'll feel pleasantly hot monday afternoon and monday evening, eventually lose that wet weather from the north of scotland, lingering through the course of the night, but by tuesday morning, most of us dry with clear spells, a bit of patchy cloud here and there and temperatures from the word go will be in the mid—to—high teens so through the day on tuesday, probably the driest day of the week across the uk. lots of long spells of sunshine with a southerly breeze, top temperatures by tuesday towards the south—east up to about 33 or even 3a degrees. north—west, we're looking at those temperatures into the mid or possibly high 20s so a hot sunny day

with light winds on tuesday but as we had to tuesday night, it's going to be fairly warm, fairly uncomfortable for sleeping. in fact, about 10pm, temperatures still nearly 30 degrees so you'll certainly notice that things are going to feel pretty sticky through the course of tuesday night and with all that humidity, heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible, they're likely to push northwards tuesday night and through the course of wednesday, some uncertainty about where they are going to be, probably the north and west. the south—east likely to stay dry through the day on wednesday and here, temperatures could well reach about 32 degrees or so. again, it is another hot day for most of us but a little fresher in the far north—west. things heat up later in the week. 35 in london on thursday but watch for more heavy and thundery showers, mainly in the north—west.
