leicester do it again. brendan rogers side beat arsenal to move second in the table. but where does that leave manchester city? the largest ever attendance for an england women's football match. but no joy for the lionesses. who lose in the last minute to germany. another medal for great britain on day three of the world para—athletics championships in dubai. also coming up in the programme: the kiwis inflict a third tour defeat on the great britain rugby league lions in christchurch. and saracens silence the gloucester fans with victory at kingsholm in their first game since being sanctioned for salary cap breaches. hello and welcome to the programme, plenty of movers and shakers in the premier league
7:34 pm
after today's results. in form leicester are now up to second after an impressive 2—0 win over arsenal at the kingpower stadium leicester had won eight of their last 11 home league games and ayoze perez had the chance to put them ahead in the first half, but fired into the stands. wilfred ndidi came even closer after the break. ricardo carved an opening but the nigerian could only hit the cross bar. arsenal then had a goal ruled out offside before jamie vardy finally found a way though for leicester and scored his eleventh goal of the season. it pretty quickly got worse for the visitors. brendan rodgers‘ side were in complete control and james maddison doubled their lead...2—0 to leicester it finished. a fourth consecutive premier league victory. well chelsea were briefly second themselves earlier this afternoon, after their 2—0 win over crystal palace. they're now 3rd.
7:35 pm
it was their sixth league win in a row— the first time they've done that since they won the title. they move to within five points of leaders liverpool who play city tomorrow. paul frostick reports: five premier league wins in a row for chelsea left them in good shape heading into this fixture with crystal palace. and after an incredible midweek champions league comeback, they were full of confidence. despite a first half full of attacking threat, it would prove to be a goalless one. chelsea began the second half on the front foot again and they got their breakthrough. the palace defence finally unlocked tammy abraham finishing the move. with only a single goal between the sides, crystal palace upped their efforts and started to trouble the chelsea backline. but as the game approached the final stages, christian pulisic got the second. to see them leapfrog manchester city in the table.
7:36 pm
we certainly deserved to win the game and the first half, if it was frustrating it was because we had all the game, had some chances but not enough clear ones. we let the tempo dropp slightly through the half. as soon as we picked it up in the second half then i thought we got our deserve to win with a clean sheet. fascinating day. here to wrap up the rest of today's premier league action is austin halewood. and tottenham's run without a premier league win continues? that's right tottenham continuing to struggle this season. a big result in europe in midweek but once again they couldn't back it up next time out. they were held to a 1—1 draw at home to sheffield united. before the game, tottenham were five places below the visitors and they looked every bit of it in the first half. sheffield united the much better
7:37 pm
team — lyss moussett with their best chance of a number of them. but with the quality tottenham have, if you don't take your chances, they can make you pay and son heung min did just that. his third goal in four days gave spurs the lead. however, sheffield united hit straight back. david mcgoldrick with the tap in until , after a three minute check — it was ruled out for offside by var. literally, half a toe over the line, in the build up, denied sheffield united the goal. you really have to see it back on match of the day later to believe how close it was. but luckily for the blood pressure of plenty of sheffield fans, they got a goal back through george baldock. whereas spurs... they were lucky to get that.
7:38 pm
they're without a win since september now in the league. but what a job this man is doing for them. manager chris wilder and his team still undefeated on the road in the premier league but, perhaps, they could've had more. i understand, if it is offside it is offside. my point is the reset on it. if that was the first phase and if it was offside it was offside. of course, it is a spectator sport and a fast free—flowing game and when incidents like this happen it is a disappointment. now to saint mary's where there was a huge game at the bottom of the table between southampton and everton. and a huge game for these two. lots of pressure on both managers ralph hassenhutl and marco silva. well it was everton who came out on top with a vital win on the road for them. it was southampton‘s first game back at st mary's since that nine goal horror show against leicester and the fans were ready to back their team, with scarves on every seat but they were terrible
7:39 pm
in the fist half southampton were terrible. no shots and a goal behind after tom davies scored for everton. well sofian boufal came on at the break and changed the game for southampton he set up an equaliser for danny ings to score and bring his team level. but they couldn't hold on. richarlasson with the winner in the second half for everton. and those scarfs i showed you a moment ago, well hundreds of them were tossed onto the pitch at full time in protest. so a first win on the road this season for everton and marco silva. but another hugley disappointing result for southampton and boss ralph hassenhutl. you have to think he's not got long to turn things around now. the players try and fight to wind games but at the moment we are not good enough. it is coolly taken its toll on the fans but do you feel you
7:40 pm
have the strength and the stamina to turnit have the strength and the stamina to turn it around? i have two. this is myjob andi turn it around? i have two. this is myjob and i think to be strong in that moment is what i am here for andi that moment is what i am here for and i have tried to invest everything and this is all we can do. try to work hard and try to get better and i think we can play. andi and i think we can play better when we play in the moment. newcastle weathered the storm of some tough early fixtures and they contiued their good run with a 2—1 win over bournemouth at saint james's park when harry wilson scored the opener for the visitors and captainjamal laceslles went off for newcastle, it looked like it might not be their day. but they turned it on from that point, deandre yedlin with the equaliser before ciran clarke got the winner for newcastle. so back—to—back wins for the first time in the league this season for newcastle. that's three wins from their last five as well. after a touch start to life at st james's park,
7:41 pm
could the manager be starting to win the fans over? we know how crucial back—to—back wins are in the premier league so it was vitally important, especially in the first 20 minutes when bournemouth caused all sorts of problems and they got off to a great set piece. and a quality goal. we are disappointed but sometimes you have to think about where that came from, the retaining ground obviously. we had to show a bit of metal. overall, the longer on it went i thought there was only going to be one winner. and finally a big turn—around of form for burnley today. after threee straight defeats they thrashed west ham 3—0 at turf moore. ashley barnes scored the first before chris wood made it two. just moments before socring that, he'd actually had a goal ruled out by var, of course. so he decided to make some fun of the process with his celebration. but there was no doubt about that one. before an own goal from keeper
7:42 pm
roberto jiminez sealed the three points for burnley — as for west ham they're without a win in six league games now. so if we look at the table, leicester city now up to second there. ahead of chelsea and manchester, before their big game against leaders liverpool tomorrow. and the bottom makes interesting reading too. aston villa are there who haven't played today but we keep coming back to southampton. you feel that something has to change at st marys quickly or they could be a shake—up. michael o'neill made the perfect start to life as stoke city manager
7:43 pm
as they moved off the bottom of the championship with a 4—2 victory over barnsley. meanwhile nottingham forest are up to fourth after beating local rivals derby i—o. lewis grabban pouncing on a mistake to get the only goal in a fiery game at the city ground. elsewhere in the championship leaders west brom were 1—0 winners at hull, second place preston beat huddersfield 3—1, there were also wins for leeds and fulham whilst swansea scored a 94th minute equaliser in a two all draw at sheffield wednesday. in the scottish premiership managerless hearts claimed their first home win in seven months beating st mirren 5—2. hamilton academical held on for over an hour with ten men to claim a point at kilmarnock.a three one win at ross county takes aberdeen upto third in the table. and hibs — who are also managerless — hammered stjohnston 4—1. christian doidge with a hat—trick. celtic and rangers both play tomorrow. it's fa cup first round weekend and you can follow all the action on the bbc.

there was drama between walsall and darlington this afternoon. four goals and two red cards as the away side equalised with the last kick of the game. this is the 97th minute of play — a free—kick from far out but waiting in the box was jarrett rivers who put the ball in the net, causing wild celebrations as some fans ran on to the pitch. that was after walsall had gone 2—1 ahead in the 89th minute. both sides had a player sent off. highlights and goals from all ties will be shown on the bbc sport website and app and there is live text commentary on the bbc sport website. it's was a record attendance for england's women at wembley tonight against germany but it wasn't the history making win they hoped for, the lionesses lost 2—1. the two time world champions dominated the opening play, which led to an unmarked alexandra popp putting the germans

ahead afterjust 9 minutes. england's first proper chance came 30 minutes later with a penalty from nikita paris. the german keeper denying her an equaliser. just before half time the goal finally came, ellen white doing what she does best but in the last minute of normal time, klara buhlfoud a chink in england defence to give germany a 2—1 victory. it leaves some questioning phil neville's future as head coach.. i don't listen to those types of people who are saying those types of things. i've been in football long enough that as a manager you have to ta ke enough that as a manager you have to take the responsibility. i do take the responsibility. it is a lot to do with me and we have just got to make sure that i improve as a manager and the players will improve to. let's have a quick look at some of the other stories around today. england's tyrell hatton shot a seven—under—par 65 to move into contention for tomorrow's final round of the turkish 0pen.

champion... i think he wasjust showing off there. just a bit. on to rugby league and great britain's miserable tour continued this morning after losing 23—8 in their second test against new zealand in christchurch. that makes it three defeats in a row — a disappointing result for the lions' on their return after a 12 year absence. adam wild reports. for great britain's rugby league lions, the writing was on the wall. the task ahead now loud, clear and yelled out in black and white. with two defeats from two on this tour, there were some reputations to restore, but here, once again, struggling to get to grips with new zealand. britain under pressure from the start, the kiwis rarely looked troubled. shaunjohnson going over with barely a finger laid on him. britain bruised, bloodied and battered and they had not yet reached half—time. after 12 years away, so much more had been expected from this british side but it was

new zealand taking their chances. in the case of ken maumalo, doing so quite brilliantly. josh hodgson did eventually find a way through for great britain but the damage had been done. yet another defeat. this team, this tour, looking ever more troubled. 0ur start, ourfirst few sets were all right, then a few early errors. the kiwis played well. they put a lot of pressure on us. we saw the stats at half—time. it was tough. we were sapped of energy. credit to us, we came out in the second half and there was plenty of fight in us. nonetheless, gutted, mate. a better result for england women's rugby league side who have won the first test of their tour to papua new guinea.

saracens also know the value of the boot. it was kicked by manu vunipola. his success has been built on family as well as money. using a collective spirit, they call the wolf pack which looks more like a herd of wildebeest when it is doing this. ben got the ball down. then they locked the door. a late gloucester try proved purely academic. for some, saracenss a cheat and this might be the week that everything changes except for one thing, the results. elsewhere bath beat top of the table northampton 22 points to 13and harlequins were beaten at home by worcester 19—14. in the pro1li glasgow warriors claimed a second straight bonus—point win, beating zebre by 31 ponts to seven. george horne scored two of his sides tries as warriors comprehensively won in italy. they'd already scored four times before zebre had a man sent off
