jurgen klopp described it. we had to fight that is what we did, we had to use alison, for 85 minutes, he did some warming up exercises but the rest of the time he was unbelievable. other than that, we have to fight for the result, that is what we did, and now we have three points. they'd have been watching on with glee in the red half of liverpool as second placed leicester could only draw 1—1 with second bottom side norwich. an entertaining game this one at the king power. teemu pukki slotted norwich. jamie vardy thought he'd scored for a ninth game in a row when his header went in. replays showed it was actually an own goalfrom tim krul. it ends leicester's nine game winning run in the league. manager brendan rodgers says they now need to hit the reset button but with liverpool in the club world cup this week, they can close to gap to four points at the top before

they can close to gap to seven points at the top before liverpool next play. fourth placed chelsea are having a slump too. their latest setback came at home to bournemouth — beaten 1—0. bournemouth had lost their last five before today. the main action came in the 84th minute when dan gosling nodded the ball over the line. the assistant referee initally flagged for offside but var had a look and saw gosling wasn't the player in question. the goal was given and helps bournemouth up to 14th. and just look what it meant to eddie howe and his players. a battling performance. for chelsea boss frank lampard — a fourth league defeat in five games is one he says his young side will learn from. we have to set our own standards and the position we got ourselves in a few weeks ago going to manchester city game was can we look upwards? now it has changed, now we need to show a reaction and get results,

we have tough games over christmas. this was always going to be the case as far as i saw it, i did get frustrated with people getting excited with us because i knew over the course of the season with our squad there would be tough moments and now we need to show. three other games today. chris wood's header gave burnley a 1—0 win over newcastle. their first points in four games. sheffield united's great season continued withjohn fleck‘s two goals seeing the blades past aston villa. in the late kick off — it's southampton 0 west ham 1. there has been plenty of christmas cheer at southampton. less optimistic for west ham. seven defeats in nine and it could have led to a festive farewell for manuel pellegrini. despite recent form, west ham started stronger. a

at the top of the table though — well who can catch liverpool now. their lead over the rest now 10 points. chelsea 20 points behind in fourth — as close to liverpool as they are to bottom side watford. sheffield united flying in fifth. could all be shaken up in sunday's games with wolves against tottenham and arsenal manchester city but even though we're not at christmas — it look like liverpool's title to lose. west brom have returned to the top of the championship after coming from behind to beat birmingham city. charlie austin's prolific form as a subsitute continued, coming off the bench to score twice in their 3—2 victory at st andrews. a fine finish for the first although some sloppy defending gifted him plenty of space to nod in the winner eight minutes later. leeds united could have returned to the top of the championship but despite having had a 3—0 lead

maitland after billy vunipola got his off—load, shrugging off three players. mako valley paula scored three orfour players. mako valley paula scored three or four minutes later. —— it will now boil down to january. if they win that game they could be in a european quarterfinal. plenty of reaction from the saracens camp tonight starting with the coach. we just want to get on with it, wrestle back when we have two or maintain momentum when we have it. the last 25 minutes... the game was slow in the first half, i think they were more enthusiastic in that sort of game then we were, which is unlike us. we talked about that at half—time and we came out and our intent went through the roof, our

of the pitch to score this one. in pool 2, glasgow were beat by la rochelle. england went into their final one day international against pakistan hoping for a series whitewash. instead, they got a bit of a washout as rain thwarted their hopes of a 3—0 win. england had looked to be in a strong position before the heavens opened in kuala lumpur. henry moeran reflects on teh action that was played in that game and the series as a whole.... frustration in the end for england unable to complete a clean sweep in this one—day international series because of the rain that has seen the post series presentation have to ta ke the post series presentation have to take place by me under shelter. 38 overs we re take place by me under shelter. 38 overs were all that were possible. england reducing pakistan to 145—8. more impressive bowling, four wickets for 18 runs for her. now onto the t20 series as preparation
7:46 pm
for the t20 world cup begins to build. we did not start the best today but we put it back brilliantly. especially the spinners in the middle picking up wickets, i was gutted sarah did not have the chance to finish off. 0verall pretty happy with how that one day series has gone. what have you taken away from the series? i think sarah has been a really good final making her debut, she has bowled exactly how she has done in the ks elk, very consistent. the batter shovel scored, a lot of big scores as well. picking up that 80 or the other day, i haven't seen that from her in an england shirt. really pleased for her to get those endings under the bag and it bodes well for the t20 is coming up. a lot of positives. three

centurions. the emergence of the bowler sarah glenn. but there will bea bowler sarah glenn. but there will be a sense of frustration that for the first time ever they have played a one—day international against pakistan and been unable to force the rectory. nothing to do with them, the frustration of the weather here in kuala lumpur. let's take you quickly through some of today's other top stories... former wicketkeeper mark boucher has been named as the new head coach of south africa. they take on england in four tests, starting in centurion on boxing day. the 43 year old played in 147 tests before retiring in 2012 because of an eye injury. australia are on top in their first test against new zealand in perth. mitchell starc took five wickets as the hosts bowled the black caps out cheaply in their first innings. australia are 167—6 in their second innings — a lead of a17 going into day four.

in the nba, the milwaukee bucks beat the memphis grizzlies for their 17th straight victory. it's their second longest winning streak — second only to a 20—game run in 1971. memphis led at the end of the third quarter but the bucks came back in the final period to maintain their lead at the top of the eastern conference. golf isn't a sport where you expect to see too much argy—bargy but emotions at the president's cup spilled over on day three in melbourne where patrick reed's caddy has been kicked out after an altercation with a fan. last weekend, reed was caught up in some negative publicity of his own after being accused of cheating at a tournament in the bahamas. fans have been a little prickly towards him in australia and as chris mitchell explains, reed's caddy — who's also his brother in law — took exception to some one spectactor in particular.
7:49 pm
this is not the kind of drama the pga would have wanted on day three of the presidents cup but it is the kind of drama many of us perhaps saw coming. i have been in amongst the crowds this weekend and they are pretty boisterous i have to say. their focal point is patrick reed, everywhere he goes he is followed by chants of cheat and it can be worse and a little bit crass and i am sure a bit irritating if you are patrick reed. sometimes the spectators have had one or two beers shall we say. so we did see this coming and it is no surprise that it has finally boiled over on the 16th green today as he was walking off, patrick reed and his caddy were confronted by a fan who got who got very close to reed, within touching distance and was abusive. his caddy thought he better step in and are physical altercation reportedly took place where the spectator may or may not have been shoved and spilled his beer.
7:50 pm
this has been as i understand caught on phones, there is some video doing the rounds right now, the pga have investigated, they have told patrick reed's caddy that he can take no further part in the presidents cup and will not caddy for him in the sunday singles. it is a drama, i do not think it was a serious one, we all saw it coming but it gives you an idea of the pressure, the boiling pot that is out there on the royal melbourne golf club and it is interesting to note it is that story which is already making the news headlines here in australia, i have already seen it in several news bulletins so it is doing the rounds and the pga would prefer us i think to be talking about what an exciting contest it is, the international team leading 10—8 going into the final day but we're still talking patrick reed. british showjumper ben maher has enjoyed an incredible season with his ride explosion.
7:51 pm
they ve won three tour titles, two european medals and the prestigious champion of champions event late last month, raising hopes they could challenge for olympic honours next year. before then though maher will compete at the 0lympia horse of the year show in london next week. nick hope has been to his yard in hertfordshire to meet him. who with rider ben maher is having an incredible season. he is an incredible horse, he has the star quality when we have a day like today when you all, he knows they are here for him and he really loves the attention, he really wants to win as much as i do which is what brings us what brings us together. after winning the procedures super

grand prix, he is hopeful explosion can help him. i know what it takes to win team gold—medal but individually that is something i have not experienced yet, i have i've been individual silver medallist twice at the european championships. we try to learn from previous mistakes and see if we can produce the result next year. despite all ben maher‘s incredible success with explosion this season he will not actually be riding his champion horse at at the season ending world cup at olympia. instead he's using the festive event to blood some new talent. 0lympia is the most fun show of the year, it is all about christmas, and the fans, the crowd and the atmosphere make 0lympia so special. done in style! the world cup win going back with tripple x was definitely something specialfor me and we are riding a little bit the next generation horses in olympia, we have f1 usa, a nine—year—old stallion that i've been riding for the past three years.
7:53 pm
i hope he can has the same idewas, that we can train, go there and produce a result that i know he is capable of. maher wants to round off a stunning year with one final victorious leap in london. sports personality of the year takes place in aberdeen tomorrow night. doddie weir will be awarded this year's hellen rollanson award which recognises outstanding achievement in sport in the face of adversity. the scottish rugby legend was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2016. he set up the ‘my name's doddie' foundation, which has raised more than £4 million for research into the disease. weir was also awarded an 0be this year. from day one that you get diagnosed, you get told there is your care nurse, she will help you, there is nothing else we can do.
7:54 pm
i don't agree with that at all. everyone with motor neuron disease basically has to self cure. i don't have a medical background so i don't know what i'm doing, whether or not it helps, pretty much every patient with mnd is going to go home and self cure which i don't think it is agreeable. that has been my frustration for the last three years or so, there is nothing there to help the patient. around about this time tomorrow that famous tune will be ringing out in aberdeen to herald the start of the awards. who wins the top gong is down to you too. six contenders to choose from. and some famous faces can tell you why they deserve your vote. this gets me going! you are a nominee! raheem sterling you are a nominee.
7:55 pm
dina asher—smith you are nominated. ben stokes you are a sports personality of the year nominee, congratulations. you have had an amazing year but if we had to pick one thing it would be when you won the world heptathlon title which was a special moment but coming back from previous disappointments in the past we all know how much strength and courage that shows. if i had to pick one moment that was the best for me i think it would be the world cup final, i was actually, i was meant to be doing a gig that night and we had been watching it all day and i was about to go on stage and we were all in the wings of the gig and we went on a little bit late, watching you win it on that and it was just brought everyone together. congratulations on that. the bravery you show to stand up for what you believe in, especially for racism is incredible, you are a true model
7:56 pm
and asa striker your record, that is one of the key moments. dina had an absolutely incredible world championship, she smashed it, she made the country proud, she did herself proud, made everyone proud and brought it home. my favourite moment was the hungarian grand prix, coming back in the last ten laps, extraordinary. there is an insight into how focused and determined this guy is, a true phenomenon. my favourite moment is when he led wales to a grand slam victory. he showed amazing leadership and was the standout player. everyone should vote for him on the 15th of december. we think kat deserves to when. vote for ben stokes. make sure you vote for raheem sterling. please please vote for dina asher—smith for your sports personality of the year.
