hello and welcome to sportsday. i'm gavin ramjaun. we should be starting tonight by talking about a brilliant away win for chelsea over spurs in the premier league, but instead all the headlines will be about racism — after an allegation of abuse by some spurs fans. this is the chelsea defender antonio rudiger suggesting that he's heard monkey chants from the crowd at the tottenham hotspur stadium. there were then three announcements made to the crowd asking for the abuse to stop — this is part of uefa's anti—racism protocols. an item was also thrown from the crowd at the chelsea keeper kepa ariza balaga. it all happened after a controversial red card was given to spurs‘ son hyung min. he was sent off for aiming a kick at rudiger in the second half. well, the game had already got away from tottenham by the time son was sent off. willian gave chelsea the lead with a brilliant strike from outside the box.

chelsea then got a penatly when the spurs ‘keeper paulo gazzaniga clattered into marcos alonso — the penalty awared by var. it finished 2—0, a game marred by racism. david de gea made an absolute howler as manchester united were beaten by the premier league's bottom side watford in the early kick off. united's keeper gifted watford their opener at vicarage road, on a day that saw paul pogba make his long—awaited return. andy swiss was watching. fair to say smiles have been in short supply at watford. nigel pearson's team hadn't won at home since april, and against manchester united, there at first seemed little chance of that changing. jesse lingard with about the only opportunity of a desperately drab first 45 minutes. just after the break, how is this for a howler? calamity for united keeper david de gea, as the shot somehow squirmed
