hello and welcome to sportsday, i'm chetan pathak. liverpool's relentless march towards their first league title in 30 years continues. as they beat manchester united 2—0 at anfield, making it 21 wins out of 22 this season. victory moves jurgen klopp‘s side 16 points clear of manchester city in second, and they have a game in hand. joe lynskey reports. around anfield, there's one team most of all they would wish to beat along the way. manchester united drew with them in october, it's liverpool's one league blemish on their season, such are their standards, they wanted dropped points avenged. virgil van dijk gave them the perfect start, a leap above the defence that reflected how these teams are poised right now. united's patched up team barely given a chance, only var stopped the first half from becoming a walkover.
