the uae tour has been cancelled, but public health must come first. we are all awaiting testing, and will remain at the hotel until further notice". there have been 650 cases of coronavirus so far in italy — that's the highest of any european country. now the new mls season gets under way in north america this weekend, with two new clubs inter miami and nashville joining the league. inter miami's board includes the former england captain david beckham — who was given the chance to co—own a team as part of his contract, when he was a player with la galaxy. as inter miami prepare for sunday's opening game at los angeles fc, beckham's been speaking to our sports correspondent natalie pirks about the club's ambitions. at times, it's felt like an impossible dream. but on sunday, david beckham's 13—year vision will become a reality. after he surveyed his new kingdom, his mood was one of reflection... ..and relief. it's been such a long journey that i knew would be worth it in the end. i always knew miami was the city, you know? and the fact that we are now a few days away from starting the season is very exciting. commentator: it's beckham,

it's a beauty! back in 2007, when beckham joined la galaxy, his contract included the option to buy a club at a bargain price. it was a savvy move, one his whole family have lived with him. i think they're just so emotional about the whole thing now. to see what we've gone through over the last seven years, and i think that victoria's witnessed that with me and she is... i think she's so proud and also so excited for us. they're still putting the finishing touches to their stadium, around 30 miles north of miami, but this is only home for two years while they build freedom park — a billion dollar complex. but the miami project has been beset by problems, not least locking down a permanent place to call home. this is the latest venue, a golf course near the airport, but the owners are still wrangling over the lease. they also have no shirt sponsor yet, and are fighting a legal battle

with inter milan over their name. but what they do have already is fans. miami is a cultural melting pot and largely hispanic. football fans here have been desperate for a club. nearly 20 years since we've had a team. so, i think people are hungry for it. this is our club. like, when we go out, it's like, oh, i'm notjust a football fan, i'm a miami football fan. but, as yet, their club is missing a big—name signing. there's a lot of names that have been thrown into the mix with us. but like i said, you know, if we have the opportunity to bring a big—name player, then we would do that. you could just pick up the phone and call ronaldo, surely? well, i don't know about that but the pull of having a great team in a great city... i mean, that's tempting for most people. yes, sun—drenched miami sells itself, but beyond the showbiz and the selfies, it's results that will ultimately decide whether this dream is successful. natalie pirks, bbc news, miami

staying with football, manchester united, inter milan and sevilla are among the sides through to the last 16 of the europa league. manchester united were given a helping hand by brugges when simon deli was sent off for a deliberate handball. bruno fernandes scored the resulting penalty, to put united 1—nil up on the night, and 2—1 on aggregate. just before half—time, it was a moment to remember for 0dion ighalo, who scored his first goal for the club — to give united a two—goal cushion. scott mctominay then made it 3—0 on the night — with fred scoring twice in the second—half as united completed a 6—1 aggregate win. very happy tonight. 0bviously very happy tonight. obviously we are ina very happy tonight. obviously we are in a moment now where we rotate players a bit and players are given games but when you score a goal and you play like this you will have more confidence. it is brilliant to

of the sport today team, goodbye. hello once again. just as i was beginning to think about climatological spring at the end of the week, so thursday brought a taste of winter to some areas, and yet much of the rest of february is going to be all about some really quite heavy rain, some very strong winds. details, of course, on all of the warnings associated with this weather are to be found on the bbc weather website. friday itself starts off dry enough across eastern spots. it's a complete contrast, though, to fortunes towards the west. because here, having had a fairly cool start to the night, so with the cloud pushing in, relatively speaking, i think it will hold up the temperatures. five or six degrees to start off your day. but you've got the cloud and the wind and the rain right from the word go, and it's that regime that wins out across those drier

sections in the east, because the movement of that frontjust drags that cloud and rain ever further towards the north and east during the course of the day. an increasingly mild day for central and southern spots. it stays pretty chilly, though, across much of scotland. and that's not the whole story, because what is driving our weather through the course of the weekend isjorge, a named storm, throwing another weather front during the course of saturday across many parts of the british isles, quite early on across the greater part of england and wales. it lingers with intent across the north of scotland, and then another portion of that weather front just peps up the showers. so long spells of rain, which of course is across the high ground across northern britain. so that's a miserable day. four, five, six degrees, something of that order, and the strength of the wind a real concern from about midday on saturday right through sunday. we're looking at gusts of wind 60—70 mph. when i show you the pressure chart, that's no great surprise, because you see the squeeze on those isobars there widely across the british isles.
1:57 am
this is notjust a feature for the north of scotland, but i think somewhere across the north could well in exposure see 70 mph. further south, it's going to be a blustery day, with some sunshine. it's not all doom and gloom by any means at all, but the feeling of the day will be tempered by the strength of that wind, which persists on sunday, simply becausejorge is very close by to the north of scotland. so you may not feel every bit of that eight or nine or ten, if you're not stuck closer to five or six or seven further north, where the showers will be wintry. and it's not really until monday that we begin to see the ease in the winds, and there will be some sunshine, fewer showers, a relief after the weekend. keep an eye on the forecast. take care, bye—bye.
