to win it for the third year in a row. natalie pirks is there. there is a sense from the fans who are streaming away towards the tube that they were in this game for the first 19 minutes, they really took the game to city, and they have almost set up a permanent home here, their 16th visit in ten seasons, going for the hat—trick of consecutive wins in this trophy, but villa really were in the game, and a diving header in the second minute from our ghazi almost gave them a perfect start. but it was sergio aguero, a defence splitting pass landed to phil foden, knocked down to aguero, and he really is aston villa's nemesis. his tenth goal against them in six starts. and then just ten minutes later, it was really quite poor, soft defending, really, from a corner that meant rodrigo got ahead.

but really it was villa's defending that was a problem for that corner. just before half—time when that sense of inevitability was creeping in, it was city's turn to stumble, stones with the slip. that brilliant diving header to make it 2—1, and the second half got a bit testy, raheem sterling had a couple of issues and picked up a yellow card, and that there was a two footed tackle on aguero that could have been a red, villa were just millimetres, three minutes from time, from making it 2—2 and going to extra time, but bjorn engels, a great save, just tipped it onto the post, that was that. i think in the end city did show their strength and it was the right result, but villa can really walk away from here with their heads held high today. natalie pirks they reporting from wembley. on to the premier league then. and at goodison park a couple of goalkeeping howlers allowed both goals in a 1—1 draw between everton and manchester united. . the hosts had a late winner ruled out though — which left manager carlo ancelotti seeing red — literally. adam wild was watching.

just one other premier league game today. rauljimenez wth the winner for wolves as they came from behind twice to beat spurs 3—2 at tottenham hotspur stadium. the win moves them back above spurs and boosts their hopes of earning a champions league spot. we're fighting on two fronts now, so we've got two opportunities to do something special, and that is why today was so big. we have a home game next week and we will obviously try to win that and finish as high as we can. we are in a good moment at the moment, so we will try to go the season unbeaten and see where it ta kes the season unbeaten and see where it takes us. celtic have moved a step closer to successfully defending their scottish cup title. they're through to the semi finals after beating stjohnstone1—0 — ryan christie's free kick nine minutes from time — enough to secure the win. they'll face aberdeen in the last four at hampden park next month. coronavirus has been affecting sporting events across the world once again this weekend.

the opening motogp race in qatar has been cancelled. qatar travel restrictions being brought into force that affect passengers from italy, amongst other countries have led to the cancellation. in italy, atalanta fans were checked for coronavirus symptoms before they were allowed into lecce‘s ground for their serie a match. it was one of only five league matches this weekend because of the coronavirus. chris froome and team ineos have been allowed to travel home from the cancelled uae tour, but others remain in quarantine in abu dhabi. a50 tests for the virus have come back negative after around 600 riders, staff members and media were checked over the past two days. coronavirus has had no impact in berlin, however, where britain have their first gold at the track cycling world cup. elinor barker was crowned world points race champion in berlin, the only rider to gain two laps, on her way to a winning total of 50

so we now know three of the four semifinalists in this t20 world cup. india were already through, and we can add england and south africa to the last four. england came through against the west indies, they won the toss and put themselves into bat. danny wyatt made 29, amyjones 23, but it was nat sciver who once again shone, making another half—century. she is now very much cementing her place as one of the top players, and she is now that top run scorer so far in this world cup. so nat sciver helped england to win, not bad on a slow wicket. the west indies innings got off to a difficult start after they lost taylor to an injury. she had to be stretchered off with what looked to be a groin problem, but to be fair the west indies but is didn't put up much resistance as england bowled them all out for 97 to get themselves through to the semifinals. what we do know, the 2016 champions are now out, the 2018 runners—up
