championships, holland, the danish. things are stepping up and changing so things are stepping up and changing so it is difficult. it is probably a lot of little things. we have been so lot of little things. we have been so used to seeing team gb get a medal both olympics and world championships. is it just medal both olympics and world championships. is itjust a case that other countries have caught up and taken over? historically it has been quite typical so when the gb programmers first started we copied a lot of the best bits from different teams around the world so if there is a new powerhouse nation thatis if there is a new powerhouse nation that is about to develop itself out there i'm sure we will find out what that next will be but i would say at the moment if you ask the majority of the competitors at the world championships, db is still the nation to beat because it is not set undone into the is over. that training camp, is there enough time forgb to peak training camp, is there enough time for gb to peak in time for the olympics? —— it is not said and done

stop for the sprinters, they're not too far away. we have to remember in the 2016 world championships, the men's team finishing sixth and we turned that into a first in the olympics so there is still time for stuff to change. when it comes to the endurance guys that they tend to work on a far shorter training circle dilly cycle than we do but i had to be a lot of head scratching to work out how they are doing so well and how we can implement that. now, all this week there are fa cup matches for you to enjoy on the bbc. tonight, it's arsenal against portsmouth. the last time the two sides met in the competition was in the 2004 quarterfinals, where thierry henry inspired arsenal to a 5—1win. but four years later, portsmouth got to the final and a kanu goal meant pompey had their hands on the trophy for only the second

time in their history. this meant european football to fratton park for the first time and they nearly pulled of a famous victory against ac milan in the uefa cup. portsmouth were leading 2—0, but two late goals from ronaldinho and fillippo inzaghi denied them. however, after that incredible year, portsmouth‘s fall from grace and was nothing short of spectacular. they went from finishing eighth in the premier league in 2008 to 13th in league twojust six years later. as owners came and went and pompey sank deeper into debt. in that time they suffered two spells in administration in 2010 and 2012, as well as two hefty points deductions and were faced with a real threat of expulsion from the football league if a takeover deal could not be agreed in 2013. there was genuine fear among fans

that the club, founded in 1898, could cease to exist. but since the arrival of this man, michael eisner, portsmouth have recovered and flourished. eisner isnt your typical owner of league one club, he was in charge of disney for 20 years and has brought a few hollywood stars to fratton park. pompey are in the leasing.com trophy final for a second successive season, their seventh visit in 12 years to wembley. there is a waiting list for season tickets as kenny jackett‘s team chase promotion to the championship — they are currently third in league one. after so many lows, portsmouth are very much a club on the up. and they'll be dreaming of a premier league scalp at fratton park tonight. there's full commentary on 5 live from 7 o'clock tonight. let's bring you some of today's other sports news headlines, and daniel sturridge has been banned from all football related

activity until june after breaching betting rules. he's also been fined £150,000, and had his contract with the turkish side trabzonspor terminated by mutual consent. it's after the fa appealed against a more lenient suspension that was handed to the former liverpool striker last summer. sturridge says the ban is disappointing and upsetting. everton manager carlos ancelotti has been charged with misconduct by the fa after being sent off following the draw with manchester united. it's understood he'll receive a fine if he accepts the charge and avoid a touchline ban. he has until thursday to respond. david beckham's new team inter miami didn't have the best start for their debut in mls, losing 1—0 to lafc. carlos vela produced a piece of individual brilliance to give lafc the lead on the stroke of half—time, with a clever chip over the keeper.

i sports reporter has more on the t20. this is billed as the biggest match of the tournament so far. not just about bragging rights, claiming the last spot in the semifinal in this winner takes all the match. new zealand won the toss and australia into bat and once that they could remove melissa, the rest really performed with beth making 60 as australia set new zealand a target of 156 victory. in response, new zealand gave it all and some big hitting bit to get all the way down to the front over but in the end they didn't quite have enough with australia eventually claiming a four, one victory. one was limping

off the field with what seem to be a hamstring problem. australia, the defending champions, are through to the defending champions and with india, england and south africa. we still have a final round of group games to go here in sydney. once those are done and dusted, then we will know who plays who in the last four. the semifinals are also here in sydney on march the 5th. the final takes place in melbourne on march the 8th. paralympian will bayley went prime—time last winter as one of the stars of strictly come dancing. but the table tennis champion had his time on the show cut short, when he was injured during training. now will, whose condition affects all four of his limbs, is focused on recovery ahead of this summer's paralympic games in tokyo. kate grey's been to see him. dancing contemporary for their couple's choice, will bayley and janette manrara. from paralympic champion to strictly star, will bayley wowed on the dance

floor during his time on the show last year. but his strictly come dancing journey came to an abrupt end when he injured his knee during a dress rehearsal. hello, you all right? now all the glitz and glam has settled, i wanted to find out more about what happened. when i landed, ijust felt excruciating pain. i kind of likejust laid there and screamed a little bit and then went up to the physio room. we just went for a scan and then the next day said what had happened and it was just a bit shocking. it still hasn't really sunk in because when you get an injury like that, it's not good. i don't regret it because it was such a great experience and that is such a massive show. i didn't realise how big it was, i don't think, until i came out of it and i went into the shopping centres and everything, and i had so much support from everyone, it was just amazing. so with just six months to go until the start of the paralympic

games, time is running out for will who is yet to be in training with his british team—mates at the moment as he is going through rehab. but he's still very confident that he will be on that plane to tokyo. on my day, i'm the best player in the world. what will be will be. i really believe in myself and i think that's a massive part of it. if you believe you can win, on a month's training, or two months‘ training, or three months‘ training, then you've got half a chance. if you write yourself off, then you've got no chance. so i'm not going to write myself off. thanks to some strong performances last year, will has gained enough ranking points to all but confirm his paralympic qualification and still has every hope of getting back on the podium. people have been saying it's impossible probably, but i believe it's possible. it would be my biggest achievement if i could bring back a medal from tokyo, definitely. and you wouldn't bet against a player with his determination. kate gray, bbc news, sheffield.
