that's not a problem, that's exactly what we are here to do, just talk to you. lots of football clubs are helping in various ways at the moment. but here, the perspective is unique. football was suspended with stevenage admittedly at the bottom, last place in league two. a couple of weeks ago, we might have even referred to that as a crisis. now we really know what a crisis is. our league position is just out of the window. we're not worried about that. we're really worried about making sure the next time we kick a football here at the lamex stadium that as many of our staff, players and supporters and the volunteers are all in a healthy position to come back and support us. without money from matches, the future is, to say the least, a challenge. but clubs like stevenage are nothing without their communities. the support is mutual. right now, that may be measured in sandwiches. after all, the opponent is the same for everyone. joe wilson, bbc news, stevenage.

time for a look at the weather. here's ben rich. thank you and good evening. it's been pretty springlike out there today with some spring sunshine and some spring warmth. 19.1; degrees in north wales, the warmest day of the year so far. where we have had those sunny and warm conditions by day, clear skies by night, you will get quite cold and a touch of frost in england and wales, but not so for northern ireland or scotland because you will have more clout and outbreaks of rain trudging slowly south—east through the night, holding those temperatures up well above freezing but it means into tomorrow there will be some cloud and outbreaks of rain for many parts of northern ireland and certainly the western half of scotland. eastern scotland should see some brightness and for england and wales, after the chilly start, again, afine wales, after the chilly start, again, a fine day with some spells of sunshine are made the odd patch of sunshine are made the odd patch of fog for some coast in the west but those temperatures again for central and southern parts, 15 or

16, may be some up to 17 or 18. as we move through wednesday into thursday we have this wriggling weather front with us and a band of cloud still sitting in place at this point across northern ireland and parts of scotland, may be getting into the far north of england but not much rain left on the weather and by this point. to the north, cold air working and by this point. to the north, cold airworking in, but and by this point. to the north, cold air working in, but something brighterfor the north cold air working in, but something brighter for the north of scotland. brighter skies further south but not as warm as it has been because we start to pick up more of an easterly wind. the weather front, start to pick up more of an easterly wind. the weatherfront, the band of cloud will be with us on friday but will eventually clear away as we get into the weekend. high pressure building in behind with the wind is blowing around in a clockwise direction will bring northerly wind and some cold airfor the direction will bring northerly wind and some cold air for the weekend. it will be very springlike as we get to the weekend. in fact it will feel more like january, cold wind, sunny spells, wintry showers and some snow for son sophie. a reminder of the

main story. the coronavirus death toll in britain rises sharply as 84 people have died in the last 24 hours in this huge new temporary hospital will open at the excel conference centre in london to deal with coronavirus patients. that's it. now on bbc one we can join the bbc‘s news teams where you are. i'm katie shanahan, and thank you for joining i'm katie shanahan, and thank you forjoining us. we'll start with the news that this summer's tokyo olympics have been postponed until next year because of the coronavirus pandemic. the olympics have never been delayed in their 124 year history, making it now the biggest sporting event to be affected by the virus. lord coe is the head of world athletics. we wrote to the olympic international committee on sunday to express our real concerns on behalf
6:34 pm
of the athletes. we pushed for postponement, this is the right decision for him and it's the right decision for him and it's the right decision for him and it's the right decision for the athletes. they are the most important group here, and they have been under intolerable conditions, and many of them are not able to train, and many of them are going through real emotional turmoil. we are no different from the rest of the world. we recognise that entirely, but the integrity of the competitions of the olympic games was seriously going to be... seriously going to be compromised if we tried to force them into the remaining part of this year. a little earlier, i spoke tojustin rose — who won the men's golf gold for team gb in at rio 2016. he says thought the decision was inevitable. it's disappointing when the moment in time comes, but i think it's been somewhat inevitable really, the last month or so, it's become... more and more negative about the possibility of the olympics going ahead. sol think from an athletes point of
6:35 pm
view, i think that the fact that a decision is now made, we can all acce pt decision is now made, we can all accept it, i suppose. we realise there are bigger and more accept it, i suppose. we realise there are biggerand more important things going on in the world right now, and just adjust our rhythms and training schedules and get refocused and set the goals again for 2021. winning gold in rio was one of your proudest moments of your career, you said, so how much are you looking forward to defending her title again this summer? 0h, forward to defending her title again this summer? oh, i forward to defending her title again this summer? 0h, iwas forward to defending her title again this summer? oh, i was massively looking forward to heading to tokyo. my whole family was excited about it. we were going to make it a family trip. memories of a lifetime representing team gb down there, and obviously, to come away as an an olympic champion has been something that stayed with me for three and half years. it's been the biggest gift of my career, is what i've said. going into the on the big sky didn't quite know what it meant in terms of the world of golf, but, you know, i've been announced on the team is the olympic gold medallist, and olympic champion come india brings a smile to my insides every time i'm about to hit the ball off
6:36 pm
the first tee in a tournament. so it really has stayed with me for a long, long time. of the tournaments tend to come and go, but next week there's another winner on to her command to come and go, but next week there's another winner on tour, and you are yesterday's news. so, it's very something different in my career. where you keep your gold medal? i keep it at the house. upstairs ina medal? i keep it at the house. upstairs in a little trophy room. it's a room we don't go into that often. try to keep all of the trophies out of the way of the kids. it's actually right here by my side, my old friend here. yeah, it's got pride of place upstairs in the trophy room. welcome it looks brilliant. thank you very much for bringing it along as well. the olympic sub obviously not going to be held in 2021, how much does that disrupt your schedule? be held in 2021, how much does that disrupt your schedule ?|j be held in 2021, how much does that disrupt your schedule? i will be making the olympics my, you know, my priority in terms of the summer's goal. i'm going to try to keep ple nty of goal. i'm going to try to keep plenty of energy in the tank for it, and something that is going to be a huge goal for me. if i'm honest, my game wasn't in the best of shape at the moment, so, you know, ifi game wasn't in the best of shape at the moment, so, you know, if i look backin the moment, so, you know, if i look back ina the moment, so, you know, if i look back in a year and half time you

know, it could possibly be a blessing in disguise. but there is still a lot of hard work post stop ensure the qualification criteria will be shifted here down the line, so will be shifted here down the line, soa will be shifted here down the line, so a lot of hard workjust to make sure you are on the team, and there are a lot of other players and athletes who are going to have the opportunity to qualify. so, you know, i definitely can't afford to ta ke know, i definitely can't afford to take the eye off the prize at all. welcome to the decision also means that the paralympics will also be postponed. we are nowjoined by five time paralympic champion, hannah cockroft. she understands the decision, it is looking at the positives. obviously, i'm pretty good, we have been waiting for years for this year to come around. so it is the pinnacle of every athlete's career, but the positive is it hasn't been cancelled, it's just postponed. positive is it hasn't been cancelled, it'sjust postponed. you know, ultimately, we know everyone's health, and everyone's safety is paramount to some sport. but, obviously, we just need to keep training, and we've got a few more yea rs training, and we've got a few more years to get stronger, just trying to see the positives really, but understandably a little bit sad that it want to be this year.

plenty more reaction and analysis on the olympics and parent pics be moved next year. just go to the website and the opera. goodbye for now. “— website and the opera. goodbye for now. —— and the app. hello, this is bbc news. as the number of coronavirus cases passes 400,000 globally, let's spend the next little while answering some of your questions about this pandemic. i as well as the new measures to combat it, as outlined by the prime minister last night. we're going to do our best now to answer some of them now — on bbc your questions answered. on set i'm joined by our home affairs correspondent daniel sandford, and via webcam we have dr catherine glass, a gp and clinical director at doctor care anywhere, a company that links up doctors and patients for appointments by video, and also i'm joined by dr chris smith, a consultant virologist

at cambridge university and host of the naked scientists podcast. let's get to it first of the questions to daniel sanford, who is here with me. daniel, a question from sarah finley saying, "can divorced parents keep seeing their kids, even if they live in different houses? " well, this is the bible, the full guidance on staying at home and away from others, and you know, thatis and away from others, and you know, that is in the end, the key to this guidance. staying at home, and staying away from others. this is the question that michael gove struggled with this morning, he was instinctively think and you should be mixing households, so kids shouldn't be going between households, but there isa going between households, but there is a specific exception in the guidance, and it says where parents do not live in the same household, children under 18 can be moved between their parents homes. this is one of those things where, yes, the public health rule would obviously be better to not be mixing households, but, in the end, are you really going to say to sums kids,
6:40 pm
you are not going to see one of your pa rents for two you are not going to see one of your parents for two months or three months? wejust parents for two months or three months? we just don't know how long this is going to go on. let me bring in at chris and the first of the questions to you, we have had a questions to you, we have had a question from lou in west london saying, "do i need to watch food items that are actually delivered to my house? " presumably, the food items are going to come packaged them and you are not going to eat them and you are not going to eat the packaging, i hope, unless the food inside is really, really bad. so, therefore, if you adopt the normal practice of opening the package, taking the food outcome and using your normal, what should be your normal routine hygiene practices, which as you would wash your hands after doing that anyway with handling any kind of packaging, that there is no risk at all. if you are to open the bag and touch your eyes nose or mouth with hands that have been on a bag, then there is a theoretical risk, but, let's remember that these viruses don't la st remember that these viruses don't last forever on the services. a maximum of a matter of hours to days depending on what the substances made up to him and the risk of there being an infectious dose on there is really very trivial. so i thank you
6:41 pm
can be reassured, wash your adopt normal routine hygiene practices, and will probably absolutely fine. daniel, you are saying in your first a ncestor daniel, you are saying in your first ancestor how many ministers have been practising —— practicalities with the question of how this actually gets worked through. construction workers was another area where there was a certain amount of confusion through the course of the day with different people saying different things. listen, we live in a complex society, it's hard to understand how every bit of society works. the basic rules are if you can work from home, you should. essential workers, nhs, transport, should go to work. other people, the government wants the economy is much as possible to keep going. so they want people who have to go to a place of work to go to that place of work, keep this to metre social distancing. so they have said so far it is ok for construction workers to go, the
6:42 pm
problem is that we immediately see pictures of construction workers on building sites are right up next to each other working chic byjowl, which clearly breaches all of those roles. this is when they are going to be really grappling with so they can make it so the rules on construction sites that have lots of health and safety rules, really strict, you can't run a construction site unless everyone's well over two metres apart, and, of course, you've got to be thinking about sharing tools and so on. i think it's in the balance, loads of people don't think construction sites should be open. that's outside, by the way. inside construction sites shouldn't be operating. there are so many different questions coming in. in terms of individual decisions that people, households are having to make. another question to you, daniel, which has come from christchurch. how do you mot a vehicle if the garage closed? i suppose the point of that is if you don't mot your vehicle you potentially can't drive it, is that the case? i have actually thought of this one. very straightforward. mot
6:43 pm
garages are regarded as essential services. they want cars to stay on the road for people who need to get to essential work. they don't want nhs workers not getting to work because they can't get the cars mot. so ifi because they can't get the cars mot. so if i can go mot my car and i'm going to need to, because i need to get to the supermarket or whatever, then how am i going to go about that? how my going to make sure that when they get to the garage, we do everything safely, keep a distance, what are you going to do about handing over the key is? so you have to think about those moments when there is a risk, and how you deal with that risk. so, yes, you can get your car mot with that risk. so, yes, you can get yourcarmot to, it with that risk. so, yes, you can get your car mot to, it doesn't mean that you should wander in and behave as you normally do, and run a risk by doing so. think about things you've never thought about before. it's fascinating now, i said i hope to bring in doctor catherine glass, she hasjoined us now. thank you so much for being here with us. a few questions already under way, but a questions already under way, but a question to you from martin in wales
6:44 pm
is asking, "is it safe for me and others if i work in the garden? " thank you for having me on to my matthew. i, martin, yes, it is absolutely safe. to be in the garden it with this lovely weather at the moment. it safe assuming that it's just you and your household that can access your garden. assuming you are not in any close contact with any neighbours. so, absolutely fine. lucky to be allowed to work from your garden. i would just say with this lovely sunshine just make sure you wear some cream and to prevent yourself from getting sunburned. let me turn to chris, another question this time it from aunt tania from langford. "what if i need to take my pet to the vet? " best advice, ring the vet first. because of the vet is not operating, you want to be taken to the vet at all. the bottom line is is it an essential visit? if it's an essential visit? if it's an essential visits, than absolutely, that animal's welfare is important in the vet will acknowledge that and will certainly want to see it. if
6:45 pm
it's an inessential checkup or perhaps a medication, regular prescription, that could perhaps be done remotely without the vet having to see you or the animal and just something can be dropped off or picked up. i would phone ahead and see if the plan is in place. most vets will have thought of this and have one. that sounds like a sensible advice. catherine, a lot of questions about key workers, a lot of questions about vulnerable groups, and we have got one question here from ingrid, that rolls both into one. i mckee worker, how do i protect my 86—year—old mother who lives with me? thank you. hi, ingrid. a big shout out actually to all of our key workers who are keeping us all safe and well in these very strange times. ingrid, this is a tricky one. essentially, i would suggest that if you can confine mum, which sounds terrible, but confined her to some certain area of the house and/or room and just minimise contact with her, that would be great, so, potentially take food to her room,
6:46 pm
leave it outside, that sort of thing. make sure you and the rest of your household to carry out those hygiene measures recommended by the government. alternatively, because you are a key worker, and you are having to go out and about, given that you are more at risk i wonder whether there may be any possibility of one of your relatives to take mum potentially to have her and potentially to have her and potentially safer environment and. daniel, let me bring another question, really stretching it here in terms of the range of questions they are asking of you. "we are do to move house on friday, can i go ahead? " i've been through all the official guidance looking for house moving, because as i was coming to the bbc this morning, i walked past the bbc this morning, i walked past the house, where people were moving, andl the house, where people were moving, and i thought oh, i wonder what the laws are on that. i can't see what the rules are on that. i think the truth is that very often, these house moves are incredibly complicated chains. probably, the disruption that would be caused by not moving house might
6:47 pm
just be too overwhelming. so people might have to move house, but it does create an enormous number of public health risks, which may be some medical professionals can talk about. but, essentially, you would need to be pretty happy that the place you are moving into was really, really clean and everything, but everything has to be cleaned with detergent for 20 seconds, it's pretty tough. then we got to be worrying about the guys who are moving your furniture and so on, what it means for you and for them. soa what it means for you and for them. so a very very difficult one. but, i guess in the end, if you are in the middle of the house moving, you mightjust have middle of the house moving, you might just have to middle of the house moving, you mightjust have to do it. yes, multitude of problems there. chris, another one for you from catherine in ipswich. i sell online and post my goods, so can i still go to the post office? yeah, there is no problem with us. if you are feeling well, then there is nothing you are going to put into that post, i hope, thatis going to put into that post, i hope, that is not going to be obsolete find... find to send. if you are welcome to take the post to the post office, and perhaps, what you could
6:48 pm
do, instead of having multiple trips to the post office, perhaps you could batch all the mail up and take it so you make one journey to the post office once, and then that's one set of interactions between you and the people you might meet at the post office and the postmaster, mistress themselves. just returning to the question about house moves. this is such a tiny number of people asa this is such a tiny number of people as a proportion of the whole country, but i think that's why people have decided that that should just go ahead. because, at the end of the day, the point about this is to break the chain of transmission by, on average, everyone distancing themselves from other people. there will be exceptions, and that's why exceptions are being made for people and circumstances who need to visit both parents, and in the case of couples who have part of. so there will be exceptions. it's all about common sense. shifting the overture. weeding the dice if you will in our favour and not in the virus fare better. and we have seen those graphics about what happens to the statistics in terms of transmission if you observe social distancing. it is quite marked when you see it is played out in terms of the number of
6:49 pm
infections. catherine, let me bring you in on a very important question here that has come from david williams who says "can you please clarify the danger of coronavirus for asthma sufferers? " asked, hi, david. so i feel for anyone that is concerned with underlying health problems at the moment, with asthma, unfortunately, your airways and lungs are more susceptible to picking up and less good at fighting off infections. severe asthmatics are ina off infections. severe asthmatics are in a different category, so they are in a different category, so they are following government advice on monday, the advice for them is to stay—at—home and not have any face to face contact with anyone for the next 12 weeks. however, if your asthma is not deemed to be severe, i would just make sure you have a reasonable supply of inhalers at hand, andjust, again, stay—at—home whenever possible avoiding any nonessential travel carrying out the hygiene techniques as suggested by the government. but any greater
6:50 pm
restrictions, do you think, for that particular group? i don't think so, no. assuming it's nine severe asthma. but, as i say, anyone with an underlying health condition is slightly more at risk. so they are... it suggested that they do stay—at—home and conduct social distancing measures. now, daniel come as you sat down to me you said you had a question on twitter about a puppy: you had a question on twitter about a puppy, i've got you had a question on twitter about a puppy, i've got another you had a question on twitter about a puppy, i've got another question here from lynn from weymouth saying, "am i still allowed to care for my horse? " caring for horses can be very straightforward if it's somebody who has got a horse that is largely living in a field, it's not you know, stables where it's been kind of mixed in with other human interaction. i don't think anyone would argue that you should allow a horse to sort of starting a field or remain completely unkempt in a field. sol think that's obsolete find. i think it gets more complicated if your horse is stabled, there is people working at the stables, so they are already looking after the horse.
6:51 pm
maybe you don't then have to go in, because it does get complicated in terms of interactions. i think certainly, the idea that you should just leave a horse to go sort of wild would not be right. on the puppy, wild would not be right. on the puppy: | wild would not be right. on the puppy, liust wild would not be right. on the puppy, i just don't wild would not be right. on the puppy, ijust don't know the answer. the family are picking up a puppy next weekend. i think in the end, i think while that's not essential travel, think it's kind of too heartbreaking, probably, to not go and pick up a puppy. you have to go into that. again, you need to leave the puppy outside, go up and pick it up, no interaction, wash down the carrier properly when you get home. you know, there are ways of dealing with that. i don't know that that would be the official government guidance. yes, all puppy sales should go ahead. another were not in the manual. about four minutes left to get about 5—6 questions, so i will try to whiz through them. chris, one from you from grimsby who says, i have just chris, one from you from grimsby who says, i havejust returned chris, one from you from grimsby who says, i have just returned from spain with no symptoms. when can i go out and shop for food?
6:52 pm
historically, we were saying to people if you have come back from a high risk area, you should put yourself into quarantine for a while. this was while there where large numbers of cases in other countries and relatively few cases in this country. we now know that we have very large numbers of cases circulating. so, really, the emphasis is on actuallyjust observing the current set of rules. there's not much to be gained by isolating yourself if you have no symptoms, because who knows? you could've picked it up in this country. so, the current set of rules trump all of the other ones. if you get symptoms, you need to isolate yourself and your family. but until you get symptoms at this save the next age, i would regard yourself as fine. catherine, straightforward run from debbie who says "i have two hospital appointment in april, can i go to them? " so, we are suggesting that anyone who needs medical assistance accesses that remotely where possible. it may be possible at your hospital needing to cancel or postpone your appointments. so it's
6:53 pm
worth actually contacting the hospital directly, and you may even be able to speak to the special secretary just to be able to speak to the special secretaryjust to see whether the specialist is happy for you to have that appointment postponed. some specialists are often remote consultations by phone, so it's worth debbie liaising with the hospital on that one. daniel, one from indian chatham who says, "who should and shouldn't be going to wear? " welcome again a controversial one, this one. the government's answer to this is obviously the key workers that they absolutely want to go to work, critically nhs, emergency service people, that they want people working in food supply chains to go to work. they want everyone else who can work from home to work from home. but they don't want to destroy the economy completely. so while there are obviously shop workers in nine food pharmacies, cafe workers are working, pub workers are working, they want other people to go to work, but this is probably the most difficult area talking about about construction workers already,
6:54 pm
how much other work really has to happen, and that's going to go on being something that's debated, i think, in the weeks ahead, particularly if this death toll goes on climbing as it is at the moment. chris, let me bring in a question, a final question from nathan in st albans. final question from nathan in st alba ns. nathan who final question from nathan in st albans. nathan who says "can i still go for a drive? " absolutely. you are not going to encumber any more risk in your car, assuming you've taken your car and people who you've taken your car and people who you live with, or you go on your own. the thing to consider though is if you have to go and fill your car up if you have to go and fill your car up with fuel, if you take more drives, and use more fuel, and you've developed more often, you are therefore taking yourself a little bit more risk if you do that. such as fact that into the equation if you have an electric car there, of course, you can charge that at home, and you can be absolutely fine. catherine, one final one for you from david who says, "should tradespeople still be working in my house? " so tradespeople are considered sorry, hi, david. tradespeople are considered as key
6:55 pm
workers. i think it's worth david, you speaking to the builders and or a project manager on this. any tradespeople coming in and out of the house is increasing the risk to both you and your family, and to the builders and potentially their family. so, my advice actually would be to, unless it's essential building work, to postpone that building work, to postpone that building work, to postpone that building work until this period passes. daniel, final one for you, because i heard you looking at this a little earlier in the day. in terms of people using their car or going to exercise and keep fit, they are allowed out in the uk once per day, but is there any particular restriction on just how far they can go for that? because i know in france commits limited to around about a kilometre or a mile from your home. there isn't a restriction is the answer. and the question that i was asked on the one o'clock news which is it causing quite a controversial reaction is could somebody drive for about half an hour to go somebody drive for about half an hourto go and somebody drive for about half an hour to go and take exercise
6:56 pm
somewhere where there would be far fewer people than they knew there wouldn't be people, and i said well, that sounded like something that nobody would disagree with. well, a lot of people disagreed with it, saying, well, it's unnecessary car journey. we have already discussed that a bit actually. the number of risks that come out of carjourneys aren't that great. people so you might be going to a place where there are loads more people, which, of course is happening in beaches and national parks at the weekend. you clearly should not be doing that. you should not be doing exercise where you are going to encounter more people. if you can go somewhere where there is fewer people, that is still something that you could do. but in the end, the simple rule is, do as little as possible. if you can stay home, and do nothing, then do that. if you are going crazy, go for a walk. daniel, times up, thank you very much for your time. they could to chris smith and doctor catherine glass to join us and answer so many questions. we got there more than we thought we would. there are more questions and
6:57 pm
a nswe rs would. there are more questions and answers critically on the bbc website. thanks very much for watching. i'm here in a moment or two with all of the day's headlines from right around the world on coronavirus. hopefully in a minute or two. good evening. temperatures in north wales got as high as 19 degrees today. because of the southerly flow ofairand today. because of the southerly flow of air and plenty of spring sunshine, as you can see from the satellite picture. it was like that everywhere, ma rcotte satellite picture. it was like that everywhere, marcotte across the far northwest of the uk, bricks of rain here, and in some colder air right up here, and in some colder air right up to the north. that will eventually be heading our way over the next few days. as we go through the next few days. as we go through the rest of this evening and tonight, we will continue to see a bra kes tonight, we will continue to see a brakes of rain across parts of northwest scotland, some of that ring getting down into northern ireland. the been trying to think it's way southeast where it's coming out nick... making a lot of progress. we will hold on to spells. a little bit misty and ricky for
6:58 pm
some coasts in the west. i think we are likely to see a touch of rest through parts of the midlands, southern and eastern england, perhaps east wales is welcome at temperatures down to freezing or a touch below. but, here come across the bulk of england and wales, once again, there will be a lot of sunshine through the date tomorrow. whereas for northern ireland and scotland, we still have our slow—moving band of cloud, and some outbreaks of mostly fairly patchy rain. temperature wise, once again come up to 16 have our slow—moving band of cloud, and some outbreaks of mostly fairly patchy rain. temperature wise, once again come up to 16-18d. that's temperature wise, once again come up to 16—18d. that's parts of thrills and merseyside. not quite as warm or as mild as that. where we have the cloud further north. as we go through wednesday night into thursday, the band of cloud and patchy rain associated with this frontal system really does drag its heels. it gets stuck across parts of scotla nd heels. it gets stuck across parts of scotland and northern ireland, the far north of england as well. may be still the odd spot of rain across that weather front. to the north of that, remember, that colder air starting to work in, chilly but bright for the far north of scotland. the winds will be coming in from the east or the northeast,
6:59 pm
and we keep that easter northeasterly flow as we go on into friday. so, despite some sunshine towards the south, slightly cooler feel here. further north, old weather front is still bringing a lot of cloud, and those are your temperatures for friday afternoon between 9—13d. now come into the weekend, we finally lose that frontal system. we will push her way southwards, high—pressure building and behind, but with the winds flowing around high pressure in a clockwise direction, that is going to leave us with a brisk northerly wind. that wind bringing some really cold air down across the uk. so, we will see a cold wind through the weekend, some sunny spells, wintry showers, there could even be some snow for some.
7:00 pm
this is bbc world news. the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen above the 400,000 worldwide. in the uk the death toll rises sharply as a strict new measures come into force. 82 people have died in the last 24 hours. deaths in italy search by 743. it is the second—worst daily figure and comes after the rate appeared to be flattening. india has imposed a three week total lockdown on its 1.3 billion people. japan says it will postpone the tokyo olympics until next year because of the ongoing spread of covid—19. plus we meet the italian mayors incandescent and
