time for a look at the weather. here's alina jenkins. the weather has not been changing much in recent days. we have had lots of sunshine for the channel islands and england and wales but in scotla nd islands and england and wales but in scotland patchy rain and drizzle. it is going to be feeling much colder through the weekend and this evening and overnight we have this band of cloud moving southwards into northern ireland, parts of north wales and the midlands. if you wintry showers across parts of scotla nd wintry showers across parts of scotland could lead to icy stretches. the strength of the breeze will probably keep the frost that they for most. this is how we start the weekend. this lingering front just a band start the weekend. this lingering frontjust a band of cloud. strong winds developing. this frontal system the dividing line between the milderair system the dividing line between the milder air recently and something much colder throughout the weekend across the uk suffered tomorrow it isa across the uk suffered tomorrow it is a day of sunny spells, the best of which will be through the

called. a reminder of our top story. the prime minister tests positive for coronavirus as the uk death toll soars. 181 people died since yesterday. just hours afterjoining the nation to applaud nhs workers — borisjohnson found out he had tested positive for the virus after displaying symptoms. the health secretary matt hancock — here with the prime minister 2 days ago — has also tested positive — and the government's chief scientific adviser hello, i'm chetan pathak with your latest sports news. we start with, the chairman of south shields football club who's asking the fa to reconsider its decision to scrap the season in england below the three national league divisions. it's a move that's also affected women's football below the top two tiers.

there'll be no promotion or relegation, and all results expunged. south shields were 12 points clear at the top of the northern premier league. i'm very upset and angry about the decision. the financial implications for a club like ours is huge. we have invested heavily to get to the clu b have invested heavily to get to the club to this position. it has been an ongoing process over a number of years to get the right investment at the right time to ensure we have got the right time to ensure we have got the right time to ensure we have got the right infrastructure. and, of course, that we are playing the right quality of football in order for us to climb up the pyramid. that applies notjust for us to climb up the pyramid. that applies not just to south shields but to a whole host of other clubs. if you suddenly just but to a whole host of other clubs. if you suddenlyjust take away that

cyber—security reporterjoe tidy who's been folowing the upsurge in popularity of e—sports during the sporting lockdown. the way the tournaments working is the company, the world boxing super series, which is normally filling arenas and stadiums around the world with real boxing fights, they are using a 2011 game called fight night champion, and they are using fantasy match ups inside that game. they are treating it like a proper tournament. every night this week, they have been put into heavyweight legends together. no one knows, including the organisers, who is going to win. the computer simulationjust works going to win. the computer simulation just works away. of course, it is all virtual. last night, we had george foreman versus david haye. the former knocked out david haye. the former knocked out

david haye. the former knocked out david haye in that one. lennox lewis was watching at home and he tweeted saying, it was a great fight. i couldn't recover from the blow. i went down and fair play to george. which other sports are proving popular? we had formula 1. we had celebrity drivers like chris hoy. there is also nascar. they have been hosting their own virtual races with some top—flight celebrity sties behind the wheel. in america, fox news, they were so thrilled with the viewers that they decided to do one for every single slot that they have lost because of coronavirus. that is all the support for now. now it is time for your questions answered.
6:40 pm
a warm welcome to your questions answered. we will be discussing some of your questions, but let's get a reminder of the main points from today's conference. with the prime minister self—isolating, having tested positive for covid—19, the cabinet office minister michael gove stood in to give us the latest update on the government's plans to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. here are the main developments. an alliance has been set up bringing together businesses, research institutes and universities to increase testing capacity for frontline workers, beginning with critical care, a&e staff, and gps. mr gove said that new initiative will involve "antigen" testing that will determine whether it is safe for medical staff to go back to work and hundreds of tests will be carried out this weekend for nhs and other frontline employees. sir simon stevens, the head of nhs england said after changes to hospital structures, 33,000 beds are now available, with new nightingale hospitals commissioned for birmingham and manchester, as well as london.
6:41 pm
well, michael gove began the press conference by speaking about the prime minister's positive test result and said that borisjohnson continued to lead the response to the crisis. as you will no doubt already be aware, the prime minister has coronavirus and is self isolating at home in downing street. he began experiencing mild symptoms yesterday afternoon, and was tested on the advice of england's chief medical officer, professor chris whitty. the prime minister is continuing to lead the response to coronavirus, liaising the video conferencing. earlier today, he led the effort in launching our latest front against the virus. today, i can announce that the prime minister has brought together businesses, research institutes and universities in a new alliance to boost testing capacity
6:42 pm
for front line workers. increasing testing capacity is absolutely crucial in our response to an fight against coronavirus. this is a particular priority for those who work in the health and social care sector and are working so hard to keep us all safe. this will be antigen testing. testing whether people currently have the disease so that our health and social care workers can save in the knowledge that they are safe to return to work if their test is negative. these tests will start immediately with hundreds taking place over the weekend, dramatically scaling up next week. protecting ourfront line workers is at the forefront of everyone's minds at the moment. well, with today's developments and with thousands still trying to digest the financial measures announced yesterday for the self employed, we've been receiving lots of questions and we're going to be trying to answer some of them. to help us do that, i'm joined
6:43 pm
from south—west london by the finance analyst louise cooper. and also with me from west london is the finance expert and the founder of moneymagpie.com., jasmine birtles. let me start with this question. it says, iam let me start with this question. it says, i am self—employed and i am pleased at last that financial support will be available. however, we are not going to receive that help untiljune. how i going to pay my bills until then? universal credit is available and that should be paid to you, although there is normally a five—week wait. if you are in financial difficulty, you can get that sooner. of course, notwithstanding there is problems getting universal credit because so many people now need it and there is not enough capacity in the system, so not enough capacity in the system, so that is a wider problem at the
6:44 pm
moment. benefits, iwould so that is a wider problem at the moment. benefits, i would advise going to your bank, the bank of england has set up schemes to encourage banks to lend to businesses and households if they have a cash flow problem. again, i would advise speaking to a bank. again, not easy given that bank branches are closed and all the call centres a re branches are closed and all the call centres are awash with callers. i would suggest looking at welfare support and looking at a bank overdraft a nd support and looking at a bank overdraft and short—term lending as well. i right in saying that when that payment arrives in june well. i right in saying that when that payment arrives injune it well. i right in saying that when that payment arrives in june it will be backdated? at the moment, the government says this is for a three—month period. we don't know the future looks like, but yes, a three month payment up to maximum of seven and a half thousand pounds. various rules apply as to who does and who does not get the money. take and who does not get the money. take a look at the government website and work out that he will definitely get
6:45 pm
the money. hmrc should be in touch with you in the coming weeks and months to offer you this cash. it is not like an online form you can fill out now. you have to wait to be hmi cto out now. you have to wait to be hmi c to get in touch with you, but i would recommend looking online and making sure you qualify for this money. that is the important point, who qualifies. lots of questions on that. i submitted tax returns in january 2017, 2018 and 2019. i did not submit one injanuary 2020 as i was employed in that period. will i be entitled to help under the scheme that was announced yesterday? under the freelance scheme, no. if you are still employed full time or you were in february, you could ask your employer, if you are not still working for them, if they could take
6:46 pm
you on and continue to have you, because then they could further low you on that employee scheme. but as a freelancer, no, sadly. you would have had to do a tax return for the la st have had to do a tax return for the last tax year. can i just check that if you have not put in a tax return for this year, the chancellor has extended period within which you can put that tax return if you are eligible? if you have been working, he has extended it, but it sounds like that person wasn't actually working as a freelancer for that year. do company directors who are from a limited company, did they qualify for 80% funding of their salary and if so, what are the conditions? how does one apply? people who work for themselves to a limited company have sort of fallen through the cracks. this is because they can't apply for the
6:47 pm
self—employed scheme, because, officially, you are not self—employed as you work for a company and receive paye. the self—employed scheme does not apply if you employ yourself to a limited company. then you say, if i am employed, can i do thejob protection scheme? there is some confusion. if you are working for yourself you might not want to furlough yourself. part of the job retention scheme, you can't be available to work... particularly if you work for yourself or a limited company, you have to stop working. many people do not want to do that. there is confusion. if you are a director of a company, you can furlough yourself. the advice so far
6:48 pm
from accountants is that you probably cannot. i am afraid there are an awful lot of people who are self—employed to a limited company oi’ self—employed to a limited company or who are employed themselves to a limited company and it appears that neither scheme really helps them. they have fallen through the cracks and there really isn't much help for them. because it has been done in such a hurry... de bank guarantee, the £330 billion government bank loa ns. the £330 billion government bank loans. we have seen small businesses going to their bank saying, oh, the government is guaranteeing 80% of my loan, so that is fabulous. and then the bank goes, we are going to charge you a 12% interest rate and then there is security on your house and personal assets. any business owner goes now, there was an 80% guarantee. it is only when these
6:49 pm
policies start getting tested that people out there start using them and that is when we discovered polls and that is when we discovered polls and the mistakes and the bits where people are not covered by the rules haven't been completely written up. am looking at a list on the government website of all the various government support. there are 12 different policies for various schemes already announced. you are nodding, jasmine. i presume you are feeding in some of these queries to the government? absolutely. i am getting all sorts of questions. when you have the chancellor making these great pronouncements, it is rather like the budget. afterwards, you have people asking, does this apply to me? what people asking, does this apply to me ? what about people asking, does this apply to me? what about in this situation? then you have to look at the detail, and sometimes the detail does not cover it. as louise said, they have
6:50 pm
half written a lot of these rules. there is a lot of stuff that clearly they have not thought about yet. it is not their fault. they are trying to do is not their fault. they are trying todoa is not their fault. they are trying to do a lot in one go, and we have employed people, self—employed people, all of whom have different situations. and businesses have different situations. one of the hardest questions to answer at the moment when the chancellor said something new is, so, how do i get this? quite often, even the government departments do not know for a bit until they have got something from on high. answer this one for me. we have a question, i have been working through an agency andi have been working through an agency and i have been getting paid through and i have been getting paid through an umbrella company. will i still get government help? again, this is one of those tricky ones because usually, through an agency, they are
6:51 pm
paid paye. they have the national insurance there. if that is the way, the agency themselves should be able to furlough him and other agency workers and get the money back off the workers. but this is something i have been hearing over the last day or so. have been hearing over the last day or so. people like teachers, you know, freelance teachers who could get called in the morning to work. and they have been calling their agencies and getting nothing back. sol agencies and getting nothing back. so i suspect that, in some cases, the agencies have been trying to get through to the government departments, trying to get some sort of steer on how to do and what the situation is. because, in a sense, these people are freelancers, but it isa these people are freelancers, but it is a sort of confusing area. this is one that a lot of employers will be pondering. we have a new employee who started at the beginning of march this year. we are likely to
6:52 pm
have to lay him off during the current crisis unless he qualifies for the furlough scheme. does he qualify? i believe you have to be on the payroll by the 28th of february. there is always a cut—off. the payroll by the 28th of february. there is always a cut-off. these are the people falling through the gaps, aren't they? i'm going to rattle through these. this question, my husband has been in touch with work and says that because he is self isolated, he is only entitled to sick pay? if he has done it himself, if the company is actually carrying on and she could potentially work but he is self isolating for whatever reason then he can have sick pay, but he cannot have furlough because the company is carrying on. in theory, he could be working. another one. my husband was in the process of claiming pip. his
6:53 pm
last two assessments to help them decide have been cancelled due to coronavirus. what is happening with claimants through the process?” suggest you get in touch with the welfare department, but good luck in doing that. it is very difficult. i don't suppose that the process has been cancelled. i imagine that when you get the payment, it will be backdated, but that does not help you and it does not help all the other people who are desperately trying to get welfare payments, and there's not enough capacity in the system to process them all at one time. remember, again, that the workers around us will be off sick, self isolating, they will be at home because the children are not at school any more. this is the problem. there are people out there who need welfare payments, need universal credit or income support. but it is processing it, it is actually getting the cash into people's bank accounts as quickly as
6:54 pm
possible. that is easier said than done. the system is swamped, isn't it? this is another one. the question is, i am due to get back from maternity leave and a couple of months. my company is in furlough from today. how i protected in that situation? you should have furlough. the question, really, is how long you have been on maternity leave. whether you did the six months or the full 12 months. because your pay is dependent, really, on what you earn last month in a sense. if you we re earn last month in a sense. if you were on full pay, that is easier. if you took the full 12 months, i suggest you ask to have the last 12 months, an average of the last 12 months, an average of the last 12 months taken, so that you get more than you would have done if they actually took your february
6:55 pm
earnings, which would be pretty small. it is probably not going to be as much as you would have done had you been doing the full—time work, but it is better than you would have got for the 12 months, as it were. i've got the two minute warning, andi it were. i've got the two minute warning, and i want to get these questions in. is he government providing any life insurance packages for people working on the front line? i can't imagine so, not now, but policy is changing second by second, day by day. who knows by next monday? last one. myself and my partner are being evicted from our property. will this still happen with all that is going on. i thought they had stopped evictions during this period. they stop evictions if you can't pay because you have lost your job, you can't pay because you have lost yourjob, because of the virus. but if this eviction started before that, maybe it started in december,
6:56 pm
thenit that, maybe it started in december, then it could happen at some point. what i would do right now, if you have not already is to get in touch with shelter, the charity shelter, because they should be able to help the best. frankly, because the government said just today or yesterday, we must not do any moving, we shouldn't have any house selling or anything like that, it wouldn't make sense for the landlord to throw you out at the moment. you are ina to throw you out at the moment. you are in a good position to negotiate, frankly. brilliant. we got there. thank you so much. really useful. if you are working at home and you have got more questions, keep sending them in because we're going to be plenty more of these sessions. will be the answer to these questions on the bbc website and on the bbc news app. now, it is time for a look at the weather.
6:57 pm
the weather is when feel very diff front for us this weekend. patchy rain and drizzle. overnight, it sinks its way further southwards. at this stage, just a band of cloud, maybe the odd patch of drizzle here and there. some wintry showers across scotland leading to some icy stretches. further south, clearer skies but with the strength of the breeze, it should keep any frost at bay. so this is how the weekend shapes up. through the first part of saturday, we have got this slow—moving cold front. just a band of cloud at this stage but notice the squeeze on the isobars. we pick up the squeeze on the isobars. we pick upa the squeeze on the isobars. we pick up a colder north—easterly went. this frontal system is the dividing line between the milder air we have had line between the milder air we have ha d rece ntly line between the milder air we have had recently and something much colder sweeping across the uk. a real chill in that wind comes sunday. for saturday, a mixture of variable cloud and some sunny spells. certainly more clout than we
6:58 pm
have had recently across england and wales. certainly more showers across. temperatures in a range of 6012 celsius. with the strengthening wind it is going to feel colder than that in parts of scotland. the win strengthening all the while through tomorrow. that will continue on sunday. through the early hours of sunday, the clocks go forward one hour. we start british summertime but on sunday, it is going to feel even colder a lot of cloud around best of any sunshine across northern ireland, western scotland, north—west or south—west england. so the chance of some showers for eastern counties, but the strength of the wind is going to be defeated on sunday. thus 30 to a0 miles an hour. locally, a0... whilst the thermometer may read 69 celsius, when you add on the strength of the wind, it is going to feel closer to feeding for some of us. a significant wind chill on sunday and a bitterly cold day, particularly
