fa chairman greg clarke has warned have to take notice, don't we? in leeds today, the sentiments were similar. right now the country wants that countries and clubs across the a leader to guide the nation through country could vanish as the the crisis. i'm feeling a bit more financial impact from coronavirus. nervous. because he's supposed to be helping us and telling us what to clark was speaking at a meeting of do, but yeah, ijust hope he the fa council earlier and added that everyone involved in the game recovers. i don't agree with his policies but to see anyone in that would step up and share the pain as condition brings it home. no, i feel talks... and, he admitted it may not sorry for him, especially having be possible to finish the season. thatjob. let us get more on that now with our sorry for him, especially having that job. with the focus of the nation on the prime minister in his football reporter. simon, there has been consistency from all the hospital bed, so our thoughts are on leaders at the top of the game for a the front line and the remarkable long time now but greg clarke nhs staff who risk their own lives admitted today that finishing the caring for him and countless others. season admitted today that finishing the season might not be possible. that mark easton, bbc news. is right, greg clarke's speaking at so as the prime minister faces the fa council meeting this morning a second night in intensive care, let's talk once again painted a fairly greek picture for to our political editor laura kuenssberg. the game, he said over the next two and in that official briefing, yea rs the game, he said over the next two years he expected the football association to lose £150 million due obviously a determined attempt by ministers to say it is government to the coronavirus outbreak and, as business as usual, despite the fact you say, he reiterated the view of the professional game that this

that the prime minister is incapacitated. what did you make of that? you are right, ministers tried agent should finish but there was no guarantee that that would happen. to be resolute and say the plan set out by the prime minister, the because of that, there needed to be a plan in place with all the english instructions as the phrase was used, are still being followed to the letter and there is no confusion about what ought to be done and the plans are absolutely clear. but with football to prevent its decimation at lower levels. he said that nobody us plans are absolutely clear. but with us not knowing, of course, how long it will take the prime minister to recover from this illness there is, running the game had everfaced any of course therefore, a great deal of economic challenges like this in uncertainty about what might happen next, because of course thoughts in their wildest imagination and said, whitehall are not just about as you say, that there was a very managing the immediate impact of real threat from clubs and leagues this terrible disease, but what going under if a solution could not might flow next from it in the be found. he used the opportunity in weeks, months and even years to a week where we've seen this impasse come. it's clear there are already going to be very profound between the premier league and its consequences for the economy. there players overtaking cuts to wages, he are concerns as well in whitehall about the social impact of people urged them to get together for the being cooped up, and that is why car in good in order to save the there is this urgent desire for the game. —— for the common good. prime minister to recover as quickly and as fully as possible in order to get back to work. laura, many thanks car in good in order to save the game. -- for the common good. what about the issue of non—league football, the fa have been
6:32 pm
once again. criticised for jumping the football, the fa have been criticised forjumping the gun and declaring the leagues below step, tier three is null and void, was out on the agenda today? yes, it is all it's an occasionally sunny weather view for the next few days. warm as well, getting warmerfor some stakeholders, it includes lower overnight. there's more cloud around leagues and they weren't given a tonight compare with last night, so chance today to ask the fa why they actually it's not going to be asked to leave. from the cloud in southern reached the decision that they have england, you may catch a shower, over non—league from steps three and some rain in northwest whiteland. some clear spell still. there is a down. they are now going away to decide whether they are going to ci’oss ratify this decision, the decision some clear spell still. there is a cross england in southern scotland. its self has been a subject of huge —— northwest scotland. and tomorrow, criticism, particularly from some of the clubs who stand to lose out he won't be promoted because the compared with today's ‘s sunshine, maybe a shower in the midlands and leagues have been declared null and void and so now the council is going away to consider its view. they are in southeast england. outbreaks of rain in northern scotland, may be a all going to vote by e—mail and when few spots in northern ireland. some the vote comes in, we will know sunny spells and still warm, some whether that decision is being ratified or whether it is being spots reaching into the low 20s, but overturned. thanks, simon. let us high polling levels in england and wales. it is warmer. —— paul lynn

quickly round up some of the day's other sports stories. let us start levels. some bomb patches and parts of southern england's. —— a small with football, us prosecutors say former fifa committee members took bribes in return for voting for patches. most places will stay dry. russia and qatar to host the world cup. fifa said it is closely england and wales looking a bit warmer at this stage so it's quite following investigations. ascot hasn't been cancelled but will at least be postponed and take place chilly in northern scotland. some warm sunshine in southeast england behind closed doors at best, and friday but going through easter, the weather is changing. weather racing's first four classics of the fronts coming our way. there will be season, including the epsom derby a chance of seeing some rain but have already been postponed. the nowhere is looking particularly wet. still some sunny spells but i think the main change over the weekend sports, ufc, will return later on a will be at turning cooler. that's going to be most noticeable around private island. now, the two—time for this week is so very warm. that's your latest forecast. that's paralympic gold medallist has all from bbc news at six. i'll be 00:03:51,699 --> 4294966103:13:29,430 back at ten o'clock. admitted the postponement of this paralympic games has been tough on her mental health. she was the first paralympian to win gold in multiple

sports in rio and has been very open about her struggles with an eating disorder. i struggled when it was changed, i have an eating disorder so the anxiety around the change but me and a bad place and i did kind of fall off the wheel a little bit but i think that i found a positive space to be in, ifound my happy place again and just get back into training, enjoy training, even though it is further away, it means i have more time to be a better version of me so when i get to the paralympics i am going to be a faster, stronger... there are still some questions about the scheduled games and qualification is one of the big parts of that, when athletes who have already qualified for this yea r‘s who have already qualified for this year's games should keep their places for next year or whether they should requalify, obviously varies from sport to sport, what are your thoughts? for athletics, i qualified off my medalfrom thoughts? for athletics, i qualified off my medal from the world championships last year, but then you think, that was last year, the

following year, you will be in this kind of shape, but two years on the libyan the same shape so is it fair to have a qualification from two yea rs to have a qualification from two years ago? it is already complicated. it is an interesting place to be. as she was saying, the 2021 olympic games may feel like a long way off but one gigabyte gold medallist believes it will carry more importance from ever before. she insists the games next summer will be the perfect remedy for eve ryo ne will be the perfect remedy for everyone involved. i think tokyo olympics will be the olympics that bring us all back together. i have 110 bring us all back together. i have no doubt because after what has been the most horrendous time... i hope
6:36 pm
by the time the tokyo olympics 2021 olympics comes round it is what everyone needs. this man behind me, diego maradona, has divided opinion over the years. no doubt though he is one of the world's greatest ever players. but would he make a goal of the century shortlist? one effort that has stayed in the memory for all of the wrong reasons was the hand of god gold —— hand of god goal. that is one of several iconic goals recreated in the back garden of two young boys along with their dad. so far6 of two young boys along with their dad. so far 6 million people have watched the two boys recreate that infamous moment from 1986, along with their dad. a ronaldo free kick from manchester united from... has also been acted out along with a trademark celebration. ryan giggs in
6:37 pm
1999 semifinal goal against arsenal is in there as well. it wasjust me reliving my youth with my two boys really. obviously, i chose the goals, the music, the lightning seeds music was obviously goal of the month —— music of the month. i just put a few goals together, put the music on which makes it for me, ijust the music on which makes it for me, i just put it the music on which makes it for me, ijust put it out there, just for other people to view really. great stuff. apparently it only took them a couple of hours to put it together. that is all from those for sports day. goodbye for now. you are watching bbc news. let us return to the current condition of the prime minister. the daily downing street briefing a little
6:38 pm
earlier, the foreign secretary, dominic raab gave an update. he made it clear that all the ministers in the cabinet are wishing the prime minister a speedy recovery. is not just the prime minister. he is not just the prime minister. he is not just our boss that is in cabinet. he is also a colleague and friend. all of our thoughts and prayers are with the prime minister at this time with carrie and with his whole family. i am confident he will pull through. if there's one thing i know about this prime minister is that he is a fighter. letters join this prime minister is that he is a fighter. lettersjoin damian green, the conservative mp who was named first secretary of state during theresa may's premiership. thank you for being with us. your initial thoughts on boris johnson for being with us. your initial thoughts on borisjohnson recovering in hospital. well, i would say what we've heard is cautiously
6:39 pm
encouraging, they have said that he has not got pneumonia which is a serious thing that could have happened and dominic raab said at the five o'clock briefing that he is in good spirits, he doesn't have to have ventilation through tubes, so all of that is mildly encouraging. but, we will have to wait and see what happens on the medical side. but he is in the best hands that he could possibly be in. he couldn't be anywhere better. you are a form of the secretary of state. dominic raab is now deputising for borisjohnson. what exactly is that post? it is effectively the deputy post, it means that if the prime minister is not there for whatever reason, the first secretary stands in and it can be fair if parliament is sitting for public reasons, he might take prime
6:40 pm
minister's questions but also on a more day—to—day basis, you were to chair the meetings that the prime minister would otherwise chair and sign the papers that the prime minister would otherwise chair every organisation needs a number two and thatis organisation needs a number two and that is what the first secretary job is. the government has been very keen. the government has been very keen. the government has been very keen to make it clear that there is cabinet responsibility. but ultimately, the buck stops now with dominic raab. well, constitutionally, if a prime minister is present, he is still in the old phrase, first among equals. we have cabinet government in this country so the cabinet takes responsibility. it is not a presidential system, that phrase,
6:41 pm
the buck stops here, was invented by and for american presidents. the british system is different. of course the prime minister is the focus of everything. of course the prime minister is the driver of strategy. but in the end, we have a parliamentary system where the cabinet is responsible for taking decisions and is responsible for getting them through the house of commons and parliament, that is a su btle commons and parliament, that is a subtle difference, it is an important difference. an important difference indeed but clearly, the prime list is not able to make those decisions, he has put his deputy out front. if there is a dispute in the cabinet, dominic raab has to make that final decision, right?|j cabinet, dominic raab has to make that final decision, right? ithink breaking any cabinets confidence is to say, there are often disagreements. you will hear a range of views and whoever is chairing cabinet will bring us together and synthesise them. whether you are prime minister of the secretary of state that is what you will do. i
6:42 pm
think what is important is that the prime minister, even if the prime minister is temporarily away, has set the general strategy that is the cabinet sticks to that strategy and we know what the strategy is for trying to defeat coronavirus and thatis trying to defeat coronavirus and that is more or less everything that the government is doing at the moment. that strategy is not going to change in the near or medium term. the strategy has been set. all the officials were usually seeing... but there is quite a big decision, 01’ but there is quite a big decision, or at least a review that will be coming up at the beginning of next week on the state of the lockdown. a three week review was promised. that isa three week review was promised. that is a pretty important decision to make and of course, it will follow
6:43 pm
the medical advice but ultimately, it could be interesting seeing the difference of opinion in terms of the business secretary and the chancellor of the exchequer and the health secretary. well, we will see what happens, the government is quite rightly emphasised that it is too early to take that decision, we are looking day—to—day at having more information so it would be absurd to take any decision on the lockdown prematurely at the moment, the evidence is that it is beginning to work, there is strong evidence that it needs to be carried on, that seems to be all the public evidence and that will be the private evidence that will be available to them as well. whoever is sitting in them as well. whoever is sitting in the prime ministerial chair at the time will be heavily reliant on the chief medical officer, scientific officer and so on. this will be an evidence based decision and
6:44 pm
therefore people would probably come to the same conclusion when faced with the evidence. thank you for joining us. now come on bbc news, it is time that your questions answered. you have been sending in lots of questions that you would like answered in relation to the coronavirus and all the issues around that. good to see you, linda, thank you for being with us. let us get down to it now. a lot of people have been asking about the prime minister's health. could you explain what being an intensive care actually means? well patients who are admitted to intensive care are
6:45 pm
seriously ill, as far as i understand it they are admitted the two primary reasons. the first one is that their condition has deteriorated. all they need access to specialist equipment, or ventilation. we shouldn't question that he has been very unwell, it is great news, you will be given other assistance to breeze —— it is great news that he is not on a ventilator. between five and 6% of people with coronavirus go into intensive care. he can't make a full recovery, of course the information we had today sounds really promising. ok, our next question is from duncan. the official advice that is you have isolated with coronavirus and have
6:46 pm
no symptoms, after seven days you can return to work. is there a risk of passing the virus on if you are 0k at of passing the virus on if you are ok at seven days but then go on to develop deteriorating symptoms a few days later, or are you considered to pass it on at that point? well we are still learning a lot about this virus, that is the first thing to emphasise but the guidance is quite clear, if you still have a high temperature after seven days or are experiencing symptoms, you shouldn't be ending that period of isolation, you will be putting others at risk. what we know about the virus from some of the studies that have been published is that the viral shedding is particularly high at the beginning of developing symptoms and certainly one study i looked at recently in germany showed that the viral load of people experiencing mild symptoms after few days was low. but clearly, if somebody develops symptoms again, and that
6:47 pm
means that they need to be isolating for a long period, but if his is mild and you are well after seven days, that is when that period can end. let us move on to the next question. my husband has ms and is more at risk of the effects of cove in19 due to more at risk of the effects of cove in 19 due to his treatment. i work ina in 19 due to his treatment. i work in a nursery currently looking after key workers and front line staff's children. i am extremely concerned about this. i am working less than my normal days due to fewer children andi my normal days due to fewer children and i am at work the rest of the time when i am not at home. should i work from home at all times to reduce the chance of my husband's exposure even though i am following guidance on social distancing. or the first thing i would say is that it sounds like the person he was asked that question is providing a service that is essential. but, i can understand why she is worried
6:48 pm
about this. what i would say is that in terms of protecting herself, she is very anxious, clearly if she develops any sentence she shouldn't be at work but there is nothing to prevent her from be at work but there is nothing to prevent herfrom going be at work but there is nothing to prevent her from going to work as long as we follow the hand hygiene and rigorous measures that we are all supposed to do in the workplace and particularly before she goes back into the home. but i would suggest that she discusses that with her employer. but there isn't any reason why she can't work in terms of the guidance we currently have as long as we follow those recommendations but if somebody is worried, do talk to the employer. this is from a lady called deborah, my husband has had the virus for 13 days today. we have isolated within 30 days. he is showing no signs of improvement and has been to hospital twice. do we need to keep self isolating are are we ok now. ? crucial bit of information that we don't know on that question is
6:49 pm
whether anybody else in the household is develop symptoms since that 14 household is develop symptoms since that 1a day period began. let is assume that we haven't. if nobody else in the household is unwell, for the other family members, the else in the household is unwell, for the otherfamily members, the period can end after 1a days but clearly, if the husband, orfamily member is very unwell, the priority is that he gets a ccess very unwell, the priority is that he gets access to care but it is highly unlikely, if nobody else develop symptoms that others in the household would be able to pass the virus on to others. 0k, deborah, i hope that answers your question. we have another one here from john, my elderly father is suffering from the final stages of dementia and lives with my mother in wales. i am more than 300 miles away in suffolk. if he was to pass away due to his dementia, not coronavirus, would i be allowed to travel to his funeral?
6:50 pm
this is an issue that has come up recently and i was discussing with my colleagues the latest advice, we had an example in my household where my son's friend's father passed away and my son wasn't able to attend the funeral. it was very difficult. the guidance was updated by public health england on the 31st of march, have a look at that. obviously, this is somebody‘s father. immediate family members are still able to attend a funeral and as long as social distancing is observed, we have seen images of that online, people standing far apart. very small numbers of people are permitted to attend, that is the guidance, i know how difficult that is forfamilies guidance, i know how difficult that is for families but that is the current situation for everybody‘s safety, but that comes from someone on the basis of the guidance who should be able to attend his father's funeral. final question
6:51 pm
here, this is from ian, my wife is on the at risk list and is staying at home and distancing for 12 weeks. we area at home and distancing for 12 weeks. we are a family of four adults and, at present, i venture out on a single food shopping trip each week. is this ok? i wonder if we should be having our food delivered is this ok? i wonder if we should be having ourfood delivered by friends. ian is asking a really good question that has been asked by a lot of people. clearly the priority is looking after family members who are vulnerable in our household. the shielding guidance is clear, that others living in the household are able to go out and get essential supplies, even to exercise outdoors, but need to strictly follow social distancing guidelines, but it sounds like ian is providing a vital role learn supporting the family, going out for shopping and that kind of thing is essential, as long as we follow the guidance on hygiene and keeping away from others unless absolutely necessary. 0k, we're going to leave it there. thank you very much indeed for your answers
6:52 pm
there. the weather will be cooling down of the easter weekend but until then it will be warm or very warm for most of us. whatever your weather view, there will be more cloud in the sky compared with what we have seen today. and more cloud overnight will keep temperatures up compared with last night in the way of frost. a few showers around and rein covering more of north—west scotland with a stiff breeze. still clearing up parts of northern england and southern scotland. temperatures near enough to freezing. but when you are clear, you are best place for a view of the super moon. fog patches developing of the night goes on but clearing in the morning. cloudy skies for many of us tomorrow compared with today but they will still be some sunny spells around. you may catch a shower, may be a

thundering one in south—east england, northern scotland still see some outbreaks of rain, may be a bit in northern ireland, still quite breezy whereas elsewhere the winds are reasonably light but even though there is more cloud around, there are sunny spells, it is still warm, are sunny spells, it is still warm, a few spots in south—east england expected to be low 20s. pollen levels are high though in england and wales, it is warmer now, the windows are open, that is why even if you are staying inside you might be suffering. some fog patches around parts of southern england to start the day on thursday. still have a lot of cloud in scotland that may be squeezing out some patchy light rain and drizzle, you may catch a shower, most places will be dry, there are cloud breaks allowing some sunshine to come through and still especially into england and wales, temperatures below 20, some chilly air lurking through northern scotla nd chilly air lurking through northern scotland where we are into single figures here. things start to change as we go into friday, the frontal
