it millions of deaths instead of, it looks like we will be at about 60,000, which is 40,000 less than the lowest number thought of. so this isn't a case where people would say, we would have had that number. it is similarto say, we would have had that number. it is similar to effluent. it is not the same thing as a fellow at if we hadn't have done anything, a flu would have 35 and that goes from 27 to 35, 40, 50 sometimes. that is over a long period of time, much different stop it is even a much different stop it is even a much different death to be honest, much different death to be honest, much different death. this is violent. cms is revising new guidelines for doctors to resume elective surgeries. if anything. a lot of hospitals were closed, they couldn't do any elective surgeries, they will be able to start doing that. procedures and medical care that needs to be done in person, as long as the rate of infections remains low and in the community we want patients to be able to go to the doctors, get clinically tested and
11:46 pm
have work done, surgeries, receive fitment for chronic conditions and resume preventative care. —— received treatment, so we will be allowing that to happen very soon. we had no capacity in hospitals with what happened with the plague. we had no capacity. if your doctor believes you need a treatment in person you can get a treatment now. you can and should get a treatment now. we are asking healthcare facilities to have plans in place to give patients safe during their visits. some places like new york, newjersey, where they really got hit hard, it's going to be a little bit tougher. they've done a great job stop but they really were a centre. i mean, they were a centre. i was watching and it was incredible. but now they are levelling off and i think they will be coming down very soon. administrators will be telling you a little bit more about it. mike is going to say a few words. my

administration continues to execute oui’ administration continues to execute our massive military operation to supply our hospitals with equipment they need and beds, if necessary, but it looks like we are totally covered on beds. we have plenty of beds, it's highly unlikely that would be bad news, if we needed more beds, but it looks like it's going just the opposite direction. i want to thank governor cuomo for the relationship there, through this whole thing, we're building hospitals. very good. we built a little bit more than we needed which is good compared to building a little bit less, that's not good. but his work very well with us. the governor of louisiana has been great on the bed, that whole situation with the beds. frankly, the governor of michigan was very good with us on beds. you know, it's a very complex
11:48 pm
subject. you need buildings or tents or you have to do a lot of different things, a lot of different ways, but the army corps of engineers was fantastic. they were fantastic. and florida likewise, governor desantis. and i could probably name six others. i'll tell you one, california was fantastic. he was really good. he was really good and i appreciate the fact he said what he wanted to say and wasn't letting the press and force him into saying that he didn't want him to say. so a appreciate him very much, governor of california. he really worked very hard, we worked together, he worked very hard. the federal government is currently preparing more than 100,000 ventilators through new production of purchases and thousands already delivered. we have delivered thousands of insulators all throughout the country. new york would be i guess the biggest user.
11:49 pm
and they are now taking some of their access ventilators, which is great, and they are setting them up —— sending them up to massachusetts, i think it's 400, and other great thing. 0ur total supply ventilators continues to exceed by a lot of total expected demand. governor cuomo said today no—one who needed a ventilator was denied a ventilator. that's a beautiful statement, i appreciate it. and governors are in that same position. we do have a clip that i thought would be appropriate to put up today. it will ta ke two appropriate to put up today. it will take two minutes and i think you'll find it interesting, but we appreciate it. let's see if we can do that. turn out the lights and see if we can do that. thank you. you've been watching a white house reaping led by president trump, a daily
11:50 pm
briefing residents sump and his team carried out at the white house. let me catch you up with what the president has been saying. he says that congress has been getting closer to a deal with the republicans and democrats on another stimulus deal. you may remember there has already been one stimulus deal past, it has been decided another one might be needed. the president said it may be on its way to conclusion on monday. mr trump said his vice president will call governors on monday to discuss ways of responding. mr trump also said he was prepared to use the defence production act to get medical swabs produced at a facility. that's an important act because that gives the president the power to compel production at any facility and it a law that certainly a lot of people in america have been calling on president trump to use. it looked like he is prepared to use that law in that particular area to get swabs stop because —— get swabs. because
11:51 pm
there have been a shortage of swabs to carry out tests. he says 4 million tests have been carried out was that he also said there would be guidelines to resume elective surgeries in hospitals and that was essentially the president trying to look forward to a time when americans might enjoy fewer restrictions. he also, interestingly, gave some praise and appreciation for the governor of california, gavin newsom, who is of course a democrat. governor newsome has not i was had the most harmonious relationship with president trump but those were rare words of praise for the government. and president trump also said the united states was procuring 100,000 ventilators. let's listen to what is going on back in the white house. they did a betterjob on ventilators. and you had something else to say that was really nice but we won't go through that. —— andrew. but it was really a good statement. do you want to put the rest of it up
11:52 pm
or do you not have it? ijust think it's so good because it's bipartisan. you know, this is not about democrats, republicans, this is about a thing that hit our country, the like of which has never happened before. the wars, those wars, civil war, sure, happened before. the wars, those wars, civilwar, sure, the happened before. the wars, those wars, civil war, sure, the first world war, the second world war, those weren't fought on this country, this is being fought in the country. it was does make this as being fought in hundred and 84 countries around the world. governor cuomo, if we go a little bit further, it was far beyond. someone? it's ok, whatever. and he said some really good things. it makes people feel good. actually, the wall street
11:53 pm
journal, christopher was saying i wa nt to journal, christopher was saying i want to make people feel good too, when they are doing a good job, i wa nt when they are doing a good job, i want to make people feel good. i wa nt want to make people feel good. i want the admiral to feel good, he's worked so hard. mike has worked so hard. and it was very nice. it was all this morning, it was entered this morning. it's a little longer clip than that. but you will see, it was really a nice thing that he said and people really appreciate that because they done a greatjob. the federal government's done a great job with all of it and this is easy. the swabs are easy, we have them coming by the tens of millions, we have them coming at a level that we will have 70 swabs you won't know what to do with them. that's easy. so they will all be there, a lot of them are there already, they are learning about testing capacity that they didn't know about that we have in the various labs, including academic, you have to remember, we have a lot of big labs in colleges that are ready to help. but i want
11:54 pm
to thank the dynamic ventilator reserve , to thank the dynamic ventilator reserve, because what they have done is incredible. it's a capital dvr, by the way, and an innovative public— private partnership. we are getting access to 65,000 ventilators across the nation that can be redeployed very quickly to areas with the greatest need. and we have almost 10,000 in our reserve. we have been able to give away thousands. like we help andrew or we help phil in newjersey. we have a great working relationship. but we have now back up to almost 10,000, and this is after giving away tens of thousands of ventilators stop and we are going to develop the reserves of states, so we will work with them
11:55 pm
in case this happens again. i said to the president of mexico we will be sending a pretty large quantity to mexico, they will need them, and to mexico, they will need them, and to other countries where they need them. we have had about six calls with leaders of other countries and they need them. it's hard to get them. our companies have stepped up and they did an incrediblejob. some of them were automobile companies and they took an assembly line and so guess what, making ventilators for a while now. so the steps we have taken, i remain confident every american does make any american who needs any of these things we have been talking about will either have it now, already has it all will shortly have it through the project airbridge. we have transported thousands of items of gear with many
11:56 pm
flights are scheduled in the future. the team doing that is incredible tea m the team doing that is incredible team of military people and young geniuses, some are older geniuses, but mostly younger i can say. some people who made vast amounts of money in silicon valley and those are very smart people. the job they have done, as i said, where you come from, i said have done, as i said, where you come from, isaid how have done, as i said, where you come from, i said how much did you get? they said $700 million. i said that's good. you want to work for the government? no, i want to work for the country. it's tremendous brainpower and i think is a beautiful thing to say. young, incredible people who work in this country and they work with the military. you would say they're pretty smart, right? they are on the other scales of iq. were the upper. they were the top scale, i'll tell you. and they're great people. they are working to commit another 384 million dollars to produce another
11:57 pm
64 million gallons for healthcare, these are the highest quality. they are very safe when you put them on. they are safe. very important, the quality of the gown, the gown is important. it's people in different places, different countries, they are wearing gowns of cuts in them and these are very safe. i want to thank america's textile manufacturers for their partnership in this remarkable undertaking. two us companies, hayne's and standard textile are on track to produce millions of gowns by the end of the month and that is really moving. that is really moving. two great companies, you know the companies. another great american company, honeywell, recently began manufacturing and 95 masks in rhode island —— n95, they converted a factory in five weeks instead of nine months expected. five weeks
11:58 pm
instead of nine months, it's rapid, it's amazing. the spirit of this country, it's amazing, it's really about the spirit of this country. we said do it, do it fast. but they did it. this was a major conversion. if a different world. honeywell is hiring more than 1000 american workers to but is 20 million mouth per month —— masks per month. 20 million masks per month. thanks to the defence production act we will receive another 40 million masks over the next few weeks and i want to thank 3m, we had a dispute at the beginning but that was worked out quickly and they have been doing a great job, quickly and they have been doing a greatjob, 3m, they really have. i wa nt to greatjob, 3m, they really have. i want to thank their great ceo. we had a little skirmish but it worked out well. and they are doing a lot of work right now on masks and other things. this production is in addition to the 55 million n95 mouth my administration has already
11:59 pm
distributed. plus, 500 million masks, —— masks my administration has a ready distributed. and in addition to that, we sterilise the masks, a great company in ohio recommended by the governor of ohio strongly, and it's doing very well and they are sterilising a lot of the masks. masks can be sterilised up the masks. masks can be sterilised up to 20 times. so that's like buying 20 masks i always wondered why are they sterilising these masks? they are pretty sophisticated masks, some you can because of the material and others you can't, but we have actually two companies that do this, but one i know very well in 0hio, they are doing a greatjob stop they are sterilising masks up to 20 times. do these numbers, in perspective, to put them into perspective, to put them into perspective, american healthca re providers is an estimated 25 million and 95 masks nationwide —— n95. that
12:00 am
means we secured nearly four times as many n95 masks in recent weeks. 0ver over a matter of a couple of weeks. you are watching bbc news. you are with president trump at the white house. 0ver white house. over a couple of weeks. moreover, we are bringing supply chains back home and we have learned a lot about supply chains. we have learned that it is nice to make things in the us. i have been saying that for a long time. one of the reasons iranfor a long time. one of the reasons i ran for office because we started making things everywhere but here, and if one thing comes out of this, more than anything else, is that we should make product in the united states, and the supply chains, they sound wonderful, but it one country has a problem, the whole chain is ruined, andi problem, the whole chain is ruined, and i have been saying for a long time. i ran partially on that. i ran on that and run very strongly
