will be two owners per that there will be two owners per horse aloud which is a big step because obviously the owners of a massive part of the industry and they will be allowed to take part in they will be allowed to take part in the day... going to be staged in the same afternoon as the derby which is unusual because the derby start time has been pushed back to caterfor television audiences. it will be very different but clearly with the starting gate open, all of the jockeys are going to care about is which three—year—old is the best on the day. there are fears the coronavirus pandemic could set women's sport back decades due to the cancellation of leagues and competitions. several men's team sports have resumed in recent weeks, but women's sport hasn't been seen as a priority. jo currie has more. last summer the england netball
6:51 pm
we re last summer the england netball were the sport story as they won the world success story as they won the world cup on home soil. later on, women spot has devastated by the covid pandemic leading some to wonder whether it could ever recover. there wasn't parity before we knew that but we were working towards it and governing bodies were stepping forward and trying to better their female influence and participation at elite level and it will have set us at elite level and it will have set us back ten or 20 years. the top divisions in women's football, rugby and netball have been cancelled. the cricketers have international matches pencilled in in december but have been warned they may not go ahead while the professional cycling and golf tours lay in tatters. it is however a very different story for men's sport huge viewing figures for the premier league when it restarted last month, england's mail cricketers are set to host a series

against the west indies and pakistan this summer and formula i gets under way this weekend. professional female athletes often talk about growing their sport and inspiring a next generation, but with no women's sport taking place on lockdown and on being shown on television, where the young girls getting their role models from? whenever my daughter sees footballer and she goes money, not football again! now that she is a little bit older i want her to know that anything is possible and i have tried that, just in lockdown, to bea have tried that, just in lockdown, to be a good role model to her once women's spot is back on or more sports are back on and accessible and safe to go that we will be able to just kind of pick back up where we left off, fingers crossed. a number of high—profile sportswomen recently wrote to the government urging them to tackle the discrimination against women during lockdown for fear of long—term damage being done to women's sport. i have read some of the headlines that have said women sport will be lost at the covid. think about that
6:53 pm
language? what does actually mean? will it recover? will there be any momentum going forward? and i think we have heard so much of this, it almost becomes normalised. last yea r‘s almost becomes normalised. last year's women's super league champions arsenal were able to celebrate their title in front of theirfans celebrate their title in front of their fans but this year's winners chelsea were not given that chance. a missed opportunity to inspire future generations and they are part of that sporting fabric of this country. more on that in a special programme on the bbc news channel tomorrow at 7:30pm, called the lost summer ups women's sport. before we go the government has made a u—turn on grassroots cricket which is going to be returning to england and wales next week the guidelines that set to be announced later in the week. that is all for is here on spot day although there is much more on the bbc website of course at

bbc.co.ukforward on the bbc website of course at bbc.co.uk forward last sport i'll bring it more later on in the evening but for everyone watching now thanks for watching and good night. let's recap from that press conference, which was led by the prime minister boris johnson. he promised to publish a timetable next week for the reopening of businesses including indoor gyms, nail bars, swimming pools he reiterated the plan to move away from blanket national measures to local targeted lockdowns, with the possibility of temporarily shutting individual businesses. and he urged people to act safely and sensibly this weekend when pubs and restaurants reopen tomorrow in england. he warned that we are not out of the woods yet, and that he would not hesitate to impose restrictions again. let's get some reaction now
6:55 pm
from the shadow exchequer secretary to the treasury — the labour mp wes streeting. thank you forjoining us. what concerns do you have ahead of these changes. lots of businesses will be looking forward to opening their doors for the first time in months. many of them including my own constituency have been working very ha rd to constituency have been working very hard to put the right measures in place to ensure social distancing. i think my anxiety particularly in the last few days is particularly around pubs, for example, where on the one hand for government message should be in fact feature treasure itself tweeted great news, pubs are open, get back down the pub, but the government have had to row back because the last thing they need on a saturday night when pubs would normally read busy shoulder to shoulder 12 or 15 feet back at the bar packed to the rafters, if it is business as usual tomorrow then we may very well be in trouble and has the experience in leicester shows us, this virus has not gone away, and one of the worst things that can happen both a public health point of view but also an economic point of
6:56 pm
view but also an economic point of view in terms of would be far government to have to reintroduce lockdown measures either nationally if god forbid there is another peak, are indeed locally, so i am going to be taking advantage of lockdown restrictions eating tomorrow, i am definitely going to get my haircut, i'm going to go and visit my local cafe, but i might get my local pub in this fun out tomorrow. i just urge everyone as we do take advantage of the easing restrictions to just bear advantage of the easing restrictions tojust bear in mind the virus advantage of the easing restrictions to just bear in mind the virus has not gone away, social distancing is still in place, and please heed those messages because the responsibility to beat this virus doesn't just rest responsibility to beat this virus doesn'tjust rest on the shoulders of our political leaders, all of us as individual citizens have a role to place too. how far should people 90, to place too. how far should people go, though, in encouraging each other to date of the new changes? because some people take exception if you pointed it out to them than doing the wrong thing. there is oh isa doing the wrong thing. there is oh is a balancing act and i think politeness goes a long way. —— there
6:57 pm
is always a balancing act. i think generally people have been very reasonable. throughout this pandemic, particularly at a local level in my own community i'm really impressed at how people have stuck to it. of course, when you back to the local park or sometimes in public transport you are seeing people not abiding by the restrictions they are putting themselves and all the people at risk, but the vast majority of people have done the right thing throughout this crisis. it is one of the reasons why there was such anger about people like dominic cummings not doing the right thing because i think that the vast majority of people people have made some really big sacrifices during the lockdown, not just missing out big sacrifices during the lockdown, notjust missing out on seeing friends and family and special occasions and those sorts of things, but even as people have sadly been dying both as a result of covid—i9 but also other natural deaths. you know, the family funerals that have been small in number, billy payne. that sticks with people for the rest of their lives. —— really painful stuff that sticks with people for
6:58 pm
the rest of their lives. how problematic fur is it for you that england is still after steps with other parts of the united kingdom to the point where the first minister of scotla nd the point where the first minister of scotland and wales and said it was a shambles the way this has been rolled out in england?” was a shambles the way this has been rolled out in england? i have to say, i don't think the government of cover themselves in glory in terms of the way they have managed a pandemic in england. test, trace and isolate is a really key part of beating the virus and this strategy still isn't up and running effectively. both in terms of the public health aspects of covid—i9 and the economic aspects, when you compare this to other countries around the world, i think some serious mistakes have been made. we have tried to be constructive about that as an opposition, we want the government to get this right and get the country do it, but i think when the country do it, but i think when the just settles in all this and we look back, it is notjust a case of learning lessons, i think there is going to have the peace and accountability for some of the avoidable mistakes that were made as well as, frankly, some of the m ista kes well as, frankly, some of the mistakes that had been made were probably unavoidable and of course
6:59 pm
2020 hindsight is an easy thing but asi 2020 hindsight is an easy thing but as i say, when you compare our country to other countries around the world, it really is concerning andi the world, it really is concerning and i don't think the government are covered themselves in glory. west beating mp, thank you for your time. that is it for me, time for the weather with nick —— wes streeting, mp. loss of cloud and overnight, some up bits of rain turning dry and scotla nd bits of rain turning dry and scotland were today has been so very wet, warm and muggy night across much of england and wales, local cloud, coastal, hill missed in fog patches around and a lot of cloud around again tomorrow. they will be some patchy rain especially towards the north and west of the uk, not falling with the same intensity today and actually if you are to the east of high ground you may see a few sunny spells and if you do it
7:00 pm
will be warm and also humid out there. despite it being a windy day there. despite it being a windy day the average speeds will be cuts of 30 to 40 the average speeds will be cuts of 30 to a0 mph. they won spots may just creep into the low 20s. cooler and fresher on sunday but potentially disruptive wins for scotla nd potentially disruptive wins for scotland and northern
