saturday morning in the lake district, and kim collison has been running since 3am. his aim — to conquer as many peaks as he can, in under 2a hours. an extraordinary endurance run, over the most difficult terrain. kind of have this motto of every second counts, so it was, let's just keep moving, even though you're feeling tired or struggling, let's just keep pushing and don't stop. 78 summits were on his hit—list. they included well—known fells such as skiddaw, helvellyn and scafell, along with plenty of lesser known ones. the 96 mile circuit involved climbs which totalled more than 39,000 feet. this is kim touching just one of the peaks. go on, kim. he had pacemakers to help him keep going, and stop him from getting lost. without my team of supporters there,

this record wouldn't have been feasible. i got an e—mailfrom the previous holder to wish me luck, and say, "it's about time this record was taken. good luck," sort of thing. and with just 15 minutes of the 2a hours‘ time limit left, he did just that. it's just pure joy. it's just that big smile that you get when you know you've achieved the best you can, and to come away with the record as well was just brilliant. not bad for a ao—year—old who hopes to inspire other fell runners to beat his record. danny savage, bbc news. time for a look at the weather — here's louise lear. my my knees are aching just watching. good evening everybody. it has been a glorious mid summer's day for some. just take a look at kent earlier on, and infact some. just take a look at kent earlier on, and in fact we are seeing temperatures peaking at 25 degree, 77 fahrenheit today but it

has been a different story for some. you can see it clearly, here is the window of fine sunny weather but there has been a weather front moving through, throughout much of day, and that has brought a different story. cloud and rain. sunny spells and scattered showers for much of the far north and northern ireland as well. that weather front has to clear so we should see rain through the south—east overnight tonight, and thenit south—east overnight tonight, and then it will leave a lot of cloud in its wake. it is a cold front, a fresher feel generally across the country but not overnight. that is because of all the cloud round, so overnight lows of nine to 16 degree, but we will start off tomorrow pretty cloudy and grey. this is what we really want. high pressure at this time of year but we have one weather front to clear away from the south—east. another one moving in during the day in the north west. that will bring gradually cloud and rain into northern ireland, but ahead of it it is a grey, dull, damp start for some particularly on

exposed west facing coast, the best of any brighter spells are likely to be into sheltered areas but the wind direction coming from a westerly or north—westerly, not a particularly warm source, so north—westerly, not a particularly warm source, so the temperatures will be disappointing really for the middle ofjuly,1li—19 will be disappointing really for the middle ofjuly, 14—19 degrees at the very best. it stays cloudy, with the risk of further dressle perhaps on wednesday, but, iam risk of further dressle perhaps on wednesday, but, i am trying to stay optimistic as we go through the week and towards the weekend, high pressure may well tend to build and bring back some sunshine, and some warmth, particularly for england and wales, a bit of a question mark further north. keep a breast of the forecast. keep a breast of the forecast. a reminder of our top story... the prime minister says face coverings should be worn in shops in england. new guidelines within days. that is all from the news at six. so it's goodbye from me —— and on bbc one we nowjoin the bbc‘s

hello and welcome to sportsday. welcome to the programme, thank you forjoining us. we start with a huge sigh of relief for manchester city and there supporters today. they were looking at two seasons out of the champions league, a huge financial hit and questions about whether their biggest players and manager would want to stay. but the european ban they were given from uefa has been overturned by the court of arbitration for sport — which has ruled the club did not disguise sponsorship funds to evade financial fair play rules. our sports editor dan roann is at the etihad stadium tonight —where the club will obviously be very happy dan — but there are plenty of people in football tonight questioning what this ruling

means for uefa and it's financial fair play regulations, because they found city did do something wrong? 0n the face of it, severely weakened because one does have to ask if they cannot win a case like this, when there is so much apparent evidence and when they club has been found to obstruct its investigation and did not co—operate, and felt the rules backin not co—operate, and felt the rules back in 2014 when will uefa actually do this? there have been previous cases but i think this does reinforce concerns that governing bodies are limited when it comes to upholding their own rule book when it's up against clubs with the legal might in the financial power of manchester city. we have to remind us manchester city. we have to remind us of the city insisted that they did nothing wrong and that been vindicated. make the mistake, this isa vindicated. make the mistake, this is a resounding and crucial when others of the principal claim that

the exaggerated sponsorship revenue to get behind those rules, they have been cleared and alchemists of relief to the hierarchy here. but there are concerns amongst some and we spoke to william who was an adviser when they devised these rules and this is what he had to say. with this kind of sentence, well, manchester city ten receive billions from the rates and become basically a tournament in europe between saudi arabia, qatar and the united arab emirates. if there is no competitive balance, if there is no suspense competitive balance, if there is no suspense at the beginning of the season, the game is dead. and i am afraid that one of the things that europe is lacking right now is unpredictability. in many countries like france, like germany, italy,

spain, the same are always winning. sometimes nine times in a row. and when they lose, it is a treat. city have always said they did nothing wrong. uefa are unlikely to appeal today's ruling. what does this mean now for city and their ambitions both this season and going forward? there is no doubt that had the other way, that two—year ban being the other way, that two—year ban being upheld, it would been disastrous for manchester city, huge financial hit because being in the champions league could be worth this much is £200 million and is been estimated for the could have seen some of the biggest stars leave because they would have been denied the platform of such prestigious competition and i think reputation is well, it would have been very graven indeed for the club. so now they can put this behind them and focus on trying to win the champions league and of

course, what a story that would be and they would know they will be able to defend it if they do prepare. this is not an entire total exoneration of the club because they did make it clear that there was some alleged breaches that were dismissed because they occurred more than five years ago, but nonetheless, it is a crucial victory for manchester city and we spoke to theirformer for manchester city and we spoke to their former staff. they always pleaded innocence from day one and it is good to see that it's come to some sort of conclusion because step that hanging over for so long, the players, the management staff it's been difficult to not just focus on football, but it's been difficult to plan for the future and like i said, the they have always remained innocent and it is good to see that they have come to a conclusion and thatis they have come to a conclusion and that is good for everyone. we will

learn more in the coming days when they're released by the way for did say that they remain committed to financialfair say that they remain committed to financial fair play and that these rules have been around now for almost a decade but it will be interesting to see whether or not this does mean that they are in the future, whether or not that means the clubs do spend more on wages and on transfer fees in the club landscape becomes more unsustainable. they'll be the fear, the balance of power has shifted now towards the clubs. are sports editor, thank you. manchester city were not the only club awaiting today's announcement. had they been banned from europe, that would have meant the team finishing fifth in the premier league would have been in the champions league next season. instead it'lljust be the top four. for ages it seemed as though one of those places would go to leicester city — but that is no longer the case. manchester united are ready

have do. as a said before, it is in out have do. as a said before, it is in our hands and i would like for the players to think there's an extra place or they can relax a little bit more and the pressure is there to get to the champions league cup. it'sjust clear now get to the champions league cup. it's just clear now what our positions are. their place below them and seven, they are up with the paceis them and seven, they are up with the pace is welcome but looks like a chelsea, there's going to be a battle between leicester city and manchester united. in those two play each other at the final day of the season. each other at the final day of the season. what a game that could be but the light writing on it. but since the restart of football, those two sides of a completely contrasting fortunes. manchester united have looked very unstoppable and they are completely at the top of the form table in the premier league, they have drawn one of their five matches so far since football

came back, but they invite a different strafing muster. 0nly winning one of six of their matches and most disappointing team yesterday, and we have bournemouth, and heavy defeat for they were leaving 1—0 but then they went on to concede for goals in the second half andi concede for goals in the second half and i was the first of their two on the day, he really was taken advantage of in some poor defending from leicester there is a poor results muster that really put a dent in their european ambitions. going to the bottom of the table now, that when kept four—month possible survival ally. this with a posted after the game. the time their come—from—behind victory, this is the premier week and it really was a good weekend for a lot of sides of the bottom, they are now

relegated after defeating. souls bournemouth, aston villa, they all won this weekend and so just looking at them for a moment comest on the bottom three, three points of safety and left him, but watch them play each other on friday. another big game to to look forward to. bournemouth could really take advantage of the results, but as we know now, things do not come easy in the premier league. bournemouth of to have to travel to manchester city on tuesday but clearly, lots to play for at both ends of the table and after manchester united games against southhampton, every team the league will have just three games left to play. you're expected to be southhampton but then they got that amazing result against manchester city. but manchester has been the tea m city. but manchester has been the team to be.
