watching. let's return to the news that the firm which bought the thomas cook travel shops has said up to 878 employees may lose theirjobs, because of new coronavirus travel restrictions. hays travel took on more than 2,000 former thomas cook employees when it went bust in october last year. we can speak to irene and john hays, the company owners, now. thank you so much for being with us. i know it is a very difficult day for you both. ispoke i know it is a very difficult day for you both. i spoke to you both a few days ago, and irene, you were saying how anxious you were to avoid any redundancies. but why have you had to make this decision? the position has changed so, so dramatically in a relatively short space of time. so obviously, when we heard the news about spain, we knew there would be a reaction to that on there would be a reaction to that on the basis that first of all, it was quarantined, then the foreign commonwealth advice that it wasn't

into the autumn and winter months where they have continued sunshine throughout the year. so it's impossible to overstate the importance of spain and the islands to our business. john, we know this has been a nightmare year for the travel industry in general. do you think it will be able to bounce back? we have 82 year plan, and we are looking a two—year period —— two year plan. obviously things are bad from 2020, but if you look at 2021 bookings, they are actually up on the same time last year. now we know a lot of those bookings were people who couldn't get away this year and booked for next year. but if we look ata booked for next year. but if we look at a two—year period, we are optimistic. good luck to you both and to the company. john and irene hayes there, who will possibly have to lose as many as 878 jobs. thank

"there is no factual basis whatsoever for this criminal investigation" — the words from football's world governing today over attempts to prosecute fifa president gianni infantino. criminal proceedings were launched last week by authorities, after allegations the fifa boss broke rules in meetings with switzerland's top lawyer. both men say they've done nothing wrong. we can get some more on this now, with our football reporter simon stone, who's been speaking to fifa today. they're adamant there's been no criminal conduct here. what do these allegations relate to? well gavin, this was outlined by the fifa deputy general secretary alastair bell, talking to the bbc this afternoon. and basically he said it relates to a meeting that took place between the fifa president, gianni infantino, and the swiss attorney general. and
