are self isolating. the english football league say they are aware and are awaiting the outcome of discussions between public health england and the club. our sports reporter laura scott joins us now. laura, this is clearly more than just one or two players if they've had to close the ground. what will happen if leyton orient can't field a team? our understanding is that if they cannot field a team, the game would be awarded to tottenham and they would progress to the fourth round of the efl cup, that is because there simply is not a enough time to rearrange this fixture. if this were to happen with a normal league game our understanding is they would try to rearrange it but in this circumstance, we are told that it would go to tottenham and it is interesting this one because clearly we haven't heard the number of players who have tested positive but we don't normally hear when we hear positive cases of match is being

affected, so it does suggest that there is a number of players, a large number of them, that would mean they wouldn't be able to field this team. how much of a concern is this for lower league clubs who don't have large squad sizes? absolutely. it is an issue we have seen absolutely. it is an issue we have seenin absolutely. it is an issue we have seen in sports. we saw this in european football and european rugby come affecting sides when coronavirus affects them to a significant level where they can't fulfil their fixtures. clearly in the lordly clubs come around 25, 13 players and it 20 youth players, this is a significant level, then this is a significant level, then this will have a really big impact. —— the lordly club. in the ground being shut as well. this is an issue that has involved the club come the efl, public health england and the council as well so significant when here in other clubs will be looking to see what happens here but also there is a financial impact of this because it is notjust leyton orient
6:36 pm
that are affected we are the understand plymouth and argos town have had to find some test of their players and staff to check their situation and that is a course they have to stomach, with leyton orient, the initial tests were actually funded by tottenham hotspur ahead of the fixture tomorrow. but leyton orient are having to find additional and extensive test of their playing staff and backroom staff to check just how widespread coronaviruses of the club. we were starting to see crowds coming back to some fixtures, however, with the latest government announcements, do you think we'll see a return to no crowds again? well, that is a very real prospect. it would be a significant blow to support if the government do put the bra kes support if the government do put the brakes on that plan roll—out of fans to support from the 1st of october, but we are hearing that because of the mood coming out of the
6:37 pm
government and the winning of restrictions for the next six months or $0 restrictions for the next six months orso and restrictions for the next six months or so and the rising cases, sports are bracing themselves for a delay of that 1st of october target. and also we understand that one thing being consider whether it is necessary to continue the pilot programme if the return of fans is not going to be in the nearfuture, so not going to be in the nearfuture, so clearly a major few days for sport because the financial ramifications if the return of fans is not going to be in the next few months will be very real and we fired up several governing bodies making significant redundancies and the efl and others are winning the cups potentially going under if fans cannot return to meaningful numbers. and that will be a big news if that 1st of october target is not met. —— we have heard of several governing bodies. thank you. that news comes on the day that manchester city announced midfielder ilkay gundogan has tested positive for covid and will not play in their premier league match at molineux against wolves tonight, which kicks off in just over an hour's time.

already under way at villa park is aston villa against sheffield united, the score is 0—0. but will we see the high scores of the weekend? it was 5—2 in tottenham's match against southampton, 11—2 in leicester v burnley. 5—2 for everton against west brom, and fulham lost 11—3 to leeds. and all those goals could make this an historic round of premier league fixtures, joe lynskey can tell us why. yes, extraordinary set of results. across saturday and sunday we've seen some extraordinary matches, that 11—3 win for leeds means they've been involved in that scoreline two weekends in a row, we'll have a look at that shortly. now there were four matches this weekend that had more than five goals including leicester's 11—2 win over burnley which has them among the early pace setters on two wins out of two. four different goal—scorers for leicester in this one, even

without jamie vardy getting one. afterwards brendan rodgers says he wants the team to get even better as the season progresses. but the six goals in that match put this round of premier league fixtures on course potentially for a new record — before tonight's two games there were 39 goals scored so far this weekend, that's an average of nearly five per game, which is the same ratio for the highest scoring premier league weekend of all—time — 55 goals were scored on the final round of the 1992/93 season — that included a 6—2 win for liverpool. there were 22 teams in the premier league that year though— since the division's been trimmed the goals record was set in 2011,

you might remember that famous newcastle equaliser from cheik tiote against arsenal — that 4—1; draw was part of a weekend that had 43 goals in ten games. so tonight four goals in two more matches are needed to reach that figure — and two very attacking sides in wolves and manchester city may help with that — if these two games produce 11 goals between them, that would break that 27—year—old goals per game ratio. wolves beat city twice last season, but this is pep guardiola's side's first match of the new season, and they want a winning start. it isa it is a joy to work with them. good expectations to do good football and the results that they deserve. we know how tough it is. we know the quality and the talent of the man

city squad. it is amazing the quality of their players the manager, pap, it will be hard and difficult. we expect a very tough match. and we want to compete against a fantastic team. well earlier i mentioned leeds being involved in a 11—3 scoreline in consecutive weeks. they were on the wrong side of it in that thrilling season opener at anfield last weekend, but beat fellow newly—promoted side fulham by the same scoreline on saturday. it means there've been 1a goals in leeds' first two matches, it's the first time that's happened to a side in the top flight in 58 years — wolves opened their 1962 campaign with 8—1 and a—1wins — and the 8—1win was against tonight's opponents manchester city, think they'd settle for that scoreline again tonight. i think they would settle for the score line tonight. thank you very
