there. thoroughly enjoyed the performance, it was really good to do quite well myself. concern about how hard the women's game has been hit by coronavirus? there's a massive concern around cricket in general, and obviously, we we re cricket in general, and obviously, we were just about to expand the women's game and women's cricket, including professional contracts up to 40 players, and coronavirus has changed the economic status. hopefully that will continue to be well supported and continued to grow in the future. tomorrow will be free to air. how important is that to inspire young girls? so important. to get it back on free to air tv, i think it's a great achievement. girls can see in cricket and local

support, and you have to see it to become it. so hopefully, we will get some young girls and boys as well. just briefly, how do cope in the bio bubble and is it true that kate cross has been her scissors out? we found a lot of different ways to entertain ourselves. kate has become a hairdresser. i haven't been there yet. that has become... we're doing 0k yet. that has become... we're doing ok but it's getting a little bit more tiresome as the days go on. your hair looks great. thank you very much for speaking to us, i hope it goes well tomorrow. former world champion lizzie deignan will lead great britain's women's team at the world championships in imola tomorrow. the 31—year—old, who returned to the sport last year after having her daughter, says she doesn't feel any pressure as the favourite. deignan told the bbc‘sjill douglas that nothing compared to wearing the rainbowjersey.

cycling's a really unique sport and when you become champion, you get to show off of the rest of the year. it isjust incredibly show off of the rest of the year. it is just incredibly special. show off of the rest of the year. it isjust incredibly special. it's got so isjust incredibly special. it's got so much tradition and history involved. if you are a cyclist, you see. it's something you wear with sort of pride and i'd love to be able to where the band again. the race this weekend, you are one of the elite group who have one big. that comes with its own responsibilities, but you have a fantastic team and some are saying is the perfect course for you. i sense that that responsibility sit quite comfortably on your shoulders?
6:38 pm
yeah, i'm getting used to it. i've done a few world championships now. it's a great position to be in. i don't see it as pressure, i see it as an opportunity. i feel always that the pressure is... i'm delivering a job for my team and sponsoi’s, delivering a job for my team and sponsors, and i feel always when i have a britishjersey sponsors, and i feel always when i have a british jersey on, sponsors, and i feel always when i have a britishjersey on, it'sjust an opportunity to represent my country and try and be the best in the world. what about the family was back are you going to have all them cheering you on or do they have to stay home? it was about a five and a half hour drive, and anyone who has a two—year—old knows a carjourney of that length is a risk. we decided to avoid risks. she will be watching me on cbv 's, who knows? don't blame her. british rider geraint thomas has come fourth in the uci world championship time trial in italy, with home favourite fillipo ganna finishing first. thomas had controvertially been left out of ineos grenadiers team for the tour de france last week.
6:39 pm
former british racing cyclist chris boardmanjoined me earlier and said it wasn't a disappointing result for thomas. as soon as he was left out of the tour de france, they didn't perform well before the tour, so the decision was made that he would be sent to... this was on route. my first, i'll give it a good crack. i thought he would get top five, probably top ten on a course like this, so fourth—place is actually really good. why was he left out? he had set in the lead up that he felt like he was going through the motions, but would such a big name and 2018 winter as well, why would they leave him out? i think everybody was affected differently by covid and how they trained at home, and now we have a very

condensed season. the form just wasn't there, so it was a big colt and quitea wasn't there, so it was a big colt and quite a courageous one to make. —— a big call. i think it helped in terms of motivation as well. no surprises, he was home favourite pretty much? he's a well pursued champion. he rode a race in the build up to the world championship, only ten km, battered everybody else and it was a case of... surely he's the favourite, but it's and it was a case of... surely he's the favourite, but its three times the favourite, but its three times the distance and i think we will see a lot more of him in the world championships and the olympics. another british name in the top ten? yes, alex figured in the top ten, so too in the top ten. not bad for the brits. i think thomas can have a shot at the when. he is in a team
6:41 pm
that's used to winning. they haven't this year, they collapsed. in the tour de france, haven't seen that before. they have another chance later in the year in their race. i think he has a good shot. let's take a look at some of the other sports news stories making the headlines today. tottenham have been given a bye into the next round of the league cup after a number of leyton orient players tested positive for covid—19. orient have also had to postpone their league match at walsall tomorrow. the league two fixture between cheltenham town and grimsby town has also been suspended after a grimsby player tested positive. there will now be a limit of 1000 people per day at the french open after talks between officials and the paris police. originally organisers had hoped for 11 and a half thousand each day at roland garros, but rising covid cases has made that impossible. the french tennis federation said it "deeply regrets" the new restrictions.

of volu nteers much of a struggle it is, the amount of volunteers at the national league rely on. also covid would not allowing fans and, if i can raise some money and pay back the club for funding the operation, it means i'm helping them in my own way. you've already raised an amount from some reckon will names? £2000 were donated, which was amazing. at the beginning, i'd didn't even ask, i just put it up. i got a message on my phone saying have you seen how much of donated? to be fair, i didn't know who my mum was going on about. i asked to and she said jack. i literally messaged him straightaway saying thank you so much. i had a bit of a chat. over the last couple of days, some real good people donated. ty brown was
6:44 pm
another one, he's in china now. i think i played against him and he donated £250. never even had a conversation with him. lots of donations, lots of donations from villa fans. lots of people from the non—league crew. villa fans. lots of people from the non-league crew. can you explain the history, the reason why you know jack? we were in the same youth team in villa growing up together. we just became really good mates and been on a lot of holidays together and still keep in touch. he's doing really well. one of the things i kept putting up on social media is just for him to get some good press. i think he gets a lot of bad press and people don't see the good stuff that he's done. he's really helped me and other fans.
