a re are eight ”59 out of ten people are eight 39 asymptomatic. they don't know they have the virus and are happily spreading it around without knowing it. if you know you've got coronavirus and you self—isolate, you can actually cut the spread of the virus down to half. so that's the virus down to half. so that's the kind of efficacy of the idea behind mass testing. i think what john says is right, one of the issues we've seen time and time again around testing is we have struggled to reach capacity. i take on board your point that we've actually done better than some other european countries. but this is all pa rt of european countries. but this is all part of borisjohnson's noon european countries. but this is all part of boris johnson's noon shot strategy. which ultimately wants to wrap up to 10 million test today. a vast swathe of the population is being tested on the daily basis was up being tested on the daily basis was up that's being heralded as the way out of lockdown. given the problems that we've seen with test and trace and all sorts of other things in terms of capacity. with promising

minister himself. and so i think that's absolutely right and proper that's absolutely right and proper that that should deserve some scrutiny. particularly given the level of chaos we may find ourselves in as we now face a second lockdown and a second way. john, briefly your thoughts on that story. in addition the amount of money that is been paid to consultancies. really to fill in the gap for the provision in the state that has not performed, thatis the state that has not performed, that is underfunded, and are provided for. and when this is all done and dusted, a real investigation into just the woeful performance of the structures of states will have to be front and center. thank you very much. we've had to curtail this paper review for a moment but we will be back with both of you a little later on. thank you so much.

perpetrators. he's urging the public to stay indoors until the all clear is given. we are now going to show you the austrian chancellor who is making a statement in germany and it's worth saying what he has said in the last few minutes he said in last few minutes, we are going through difficult times in our republic, i like to thank all the emergency services who risked their lives for our safety especially today. our police will act decisively against the perpetrators of this terrorist attack. i'm glad that our police officers have been able to eliminate a perpetrator. we will never allow ourselves to be intimidated by terrorism. we will fight these attacks resolutely by all means. that earlier statement goes on so all means. that earlier statement goes on so that the police can fully fight terrorism. it would take our property protections previously by the police in vienna. those were the words of the chancellor of australia. we will continue to monitor events in vienna as they

develop. and now let's bring you the sport. good evening i'm chetan pathak with your sports news. leicester city are within a point of the leaders liverpool tonight, after moving up to second in the premier league with a 4—1 win at leeds united. the visitors got off to the perfect start. this poor back pass let jamie vardy in, with harvery barnes finishing the move to give leicester the lead afterjust three minutes. they doubled their lead before leeds got one backjust after the break. stuart dallas' cross found its way into the back of the net. but jamie vardy put the result beyond any doubt with a quarter of an hour to go, before a late penalty from youri tielemans, his second goal of the night — made it 4—1 at full time. fulham have their first league win after beating west brom 2—0. bobby decordova—reid heading them ahead mid—way through the first half.

but the standout moment came from ola aina with this absolute rocket from outside the box. well worth another look, that is some first premier league goalfor him as fulham out of the bottom three with that win. i see iseea i see a group here that the most important thing for me like anything in life is first of all put your hand up to steaks and being brave enough to understand 0k, were not good enough in the situations that we need to get better. if you got that attitude and you've got the attitude amongst the team, you've got a chance of getting better and improving. and i see that everyday. again tonight, they'll be elements of what we do need to improve. we've got resolve and it's brilliant. if we wa nt got resolve and it's brilliant. if we want to keep moving forward as a tea m we want to keep moving forward as a team and keep getting better it's them things were going to have to keep moving forward. the former chair of the dcms select committee damian collins, and five other mp5, together with the former fa chair lord

triesman have written to the culture secretary oliver dowden asking for outdoor youth sports to be allowed to continue despite the start of another 4 week national lockdown from thursday. they've also said elite sports should include under 18's training in elite development centres. and it's a view echoed by ali oliver of the youth sports trust. probably the biggest issue for is what happens to sport in the long run and to lose some of these grassroots clubs supported by volunteers that are really struggling now will leave us of a generation who are inactive and unable to find their way

into sport as a healthy habit for life. iimagine at i imagine at the moment you are campaigning and log dream the government to prioritise physical education for young people. yes, working closely with government and particularly the public education to find the very best way to get those methods out and are big ask is that it's talked about and it's amplified in messaging to school leaders and both empowering them and enabling them and making them feel it's the right thing to do to keep active. rather than because of safety concerns and issues of transmission that they should not be engaging their children in sport and physical activity. so there's been plenty of support for the exemption of youth and non—elite sport from the upcoming lockdown but some in the medical profession are being more guarded with their assessment. if you could bottle the health benefits of exercise, you would have no pill more
10:56 pm
powerful than that. exercise is fantastic on so many levels, and we all love it, but the problem is that along with it goes all of the overhead of contact with your friends, contact on the bus to get to the match, contact in the sporting venue, contact among the fans who come to see people play or watch a motor racing event or horse racing for example. all of these things are chains of transmission, they are opportunities for the virus to spread and it isjust unfortunate that you have to do, in order to gain control of it, interrupt that chain of transmission and that often means ringing down the reason we often like to get together to watch sport, or as competitors, to see how good we are against the opposition. toronto wolfpack won't be allowed back into rugby league's super league next season. clubs voted against their return by eight votes to four, with one abstention. toronto, who climbed from league one into the top tier within just three seasons of starting up,
