bayern munich and liverpool. does that feel right to you? that will go down because when they get to the quarterfinals, u nfortu nately, whatever get to the quarterfinals, unfortunately, whatever happens tactically or mentally, they fall away. they always qualify with ease. let's be honest, the strength of the groups, some are weak compared to a tea m groups, some are weak compared to a team like city. but when they get to the knockout stage, this is where the knockout stage, this is where the best teams come into it. they could be drawn against a real topside. i thought last season, city disappointed they lost to leon back and people may say it was a strange format playing in germany but it was format playing in germany but it was for the same for teams and they showed lyon and they were not scared of city. it's a mental thing with city and they are through the group in qualify but will they get to the next run after that is when they normally feel the pressure. a quick word on city's next

it's like 20 controlled car crashes a week. you know, some of these hits arejust bone a week. you know, some of these hits are just bone rattling. a week. you know, some of these hits arejust bone rattling. they a week. you know, some of these hits are just bone rattling. they really are. it was the norm. it was the norm of ourera, are. it was the norm. it was the norm of our era, concussion. for whatever reason, there was lots of research about injuries in rehab and all that stuff but concussion, from my point of view, there was not much information about it and therefore we just carried on and it was up and just dealt with. they pointed out over my career just dealt with. they pointed out over my career i had 100,000 sub—concussions. my neurologist described it as a licking tap dripping once or twice and contact would be no mark there but if it dripped for 14 years there would be a big hole. and that is what happened to me. back when i started,
6:42 pm
the sessions would be a lot more contact. there would because i think match days these days, i feel match days have got so physical that you cannot do an awful lot of contact training during the week because players simply would not last a week it would not make it to the weekend. i love those training sessions. i was a product of my environment. in terms of that was the norm for us and that is how training evolves and i enjoyed boy must've around sol did geta i enjoyed boy must've around sol did get a fair share. there is no question if you look at the data across all the sports in all the regions, whether that be football, by, regions, whether that be football, rugby, american football, i've looked at brains for people from all these different sports and there is no question is a problem. there is clearly a problem. we don't know the magnitude of the problem but as long as we insisted there is no problem, we will never get to the bottom of
6:43 pm
it. there is an increase and it is going to happen more often. and we are getting to know more about it.|j have got friends in different clubs that i played with, but outside that, i would that i played with, but outside that, iwould know that i played with, but outside that, i would know their face but not be great on their name. absolutely there have been times where i forgot the name orforgotten a fairly where i forgot the name orforgotten afairly simple where i forgot the name orforgotten a fairly simple word and had to reach for it. and i have questioned whether is that the effect of having blows to the head when playing rugby but he speak to other people the same age as you and everyone who ages has those moments. i'm not saying there is a sob story but there is a big sacrifice you make to do that. and at the end of your career, a lot of people don't even get a thank you or a check in to say how are you doing? nothing. not many people want to speak up about it and say actually i'm not in a negative

place. mentally, physically, there is no help with support. and i'm just hoping for my age and my players say the rules or have been brought in will have brought benefit to players, too many other players in the locker room. the final women's golf major of the year gets under way tomorrow, the us open in texas. the pandemic meant it wasn't played injune, so it's happening in december for the first time. the shortened days and limited daylight means the first two rounds will be on different courses at the same complex in houston to ensure the championship is completed on time. i'm joined now by the former lpga pro and golf writer anya alvarez. thank you forjoining us. you've played the us open. because of the pandemic, there was no qualification, so over 40 players making their debut. how will they be feeling at the moment and what's the preparation like for yourfirst major? i feel like anyone that is playing
6:45 pm
in theirfirst major, i i feel like anyone that is playing in their first major, i feel like they are excited. there are a lot of nerves that go into it and probably sometimes over preparation that players do going into it thinking that they need to step up their game more. but really ijust think it's an exciting thing to be able to play ina an exciting thing to be able to play in a major, especially the us open. i think it's the biggest major in women's often the most prestigious in my opinion. so to be able to say you played in the us open is an experience in and of itself. 21 players aged 20 or younger. cristie kerr and angela stanford are the oldest at 43. 43 is not old. stanford's in her home state, she knows how to win in texas, she won the volunteers of america classic on sunday and she's got to be feeling her experience can take her far? she has actually played very well
