hello. we may have said farewell to some of the high temperatures we saw just a few days ago, but the easter weekend has started with some relative warmth, and parts of highland scotland on saturday got up to 17 degrees. but you can say goodbye to that sort of temperature over the next few days because things are going to turn much colder and those parts of highland scotland that were quite warm on saturday could well be covered in snow by the time we get into monday. now, the change to colder conditions will come behind this weather front, this cold front, way up to the north on easter sunday morning, so for most it is a fine—looking day, quite a chilly start, but we'll see some spells of sunshine. but cloud will thicken into northern ireland and parts of scotland and that weather front i've showed you will start to bring outbreaks of rain across northern areas later in the day.

temperatures on easter sunday afternoon not doing too badly, up into double digits, highs of around 15 degrees towards the south and east. but as we move through sunday night and into monday we bring this weather front southwards and behind it you can see all the white on the chart. that shows that we are expecting some snow showers with the air turning markedly colder. this is a real arctic blast, a straight northerly wind all the way down from the arctic, so for monday, yes, we will see some spells of sunshine but some showers, and just about anywhere those showers could contain some sleet and some snow, even at low levels, but over high ground in northern scotland some places could see 15cm of snow. very strong and gusty winds as well. those winds coming down from the north. it is going to feel really cold out there. that's what your thermometer will read, between 2 and 9 degrees. factor in the strength of the wind, for some it will feel sub—zero. it'll feel like it's —5 at best in aberdeen on monday afternoon. as we move out of monday into tuesday we've got low pressure across scandinavia,

high pressure to the west, a strong northerly flow still bringing some of those snow showers, perhaps organising themselves into more widespread areas of sleet and snow at times, some sunny spells in—between and those temperatures will still struggle. and where it stays windiest towards the east, it's going to feel very cold indeed. now, as we move out of tuesday into wednesday, this area of high pressure is going to try to build in, especially gci’oss southern areas. the white lines, the isobars, they open out a little. the winds will be a little lighter and partly because of that, wednesday morning looks particularly cold. there'll be a few cold mornings in the coming week but quite widely we'll see a frost to start wednesday, and we are going to see cloud thickening from the west, with outbreaks of rain and hill snow pushing in across parts of scotland, maybe northern ireland as well, but temperatures, well, if you squint, they just start to show signs of nudging upwards. that's a process that continues on into thursday because the wind direction no longer northerly, it'll be more of a westerly flow, still bringing cloud and some rain,

and it will mostly be rain at this stage in northwest scotland. down towards the south we mayjust get up to 10 degrees but still below par for this time of year. now, as we head through next weekend there's quite a lot of uncertainty in the forecast but it looks as if we will see an area of low pressure tracking across the british isles, temporarily something milder mixing in with that, but as the low clears away, it's likely to leave us back in the grip of some relatively cold air, so temperatures certainly set to stay below average through this week and while next weekend may start a little milder, we'll see rain pushing through for a time and behind that it'll be colder air once again. that's all from me. goodbye.
