loud boos from the fans, mixed with applause. a vocal minority you could say back booing the gesture of taking any. it is something the players might have been expecting. they have spoken already about their disappointment and confusion at fans doing this, it is something gareth southgate has spoken eloquently about in the build—up to this game. he acknowledges there are people out there who think this has a political message to it but says, repeatedly, thatis message to it but says, repeatedly, that is not the case. he does not think people are getting the message, players are doing this to show solidarity and taken antiracism stand. they took a meeting again after the austria game and decided overwhelmingly to keep doing this and they will be taking many before the games at the euros. katie — what's gareth southgate

learnt from this game tonight going into that one? the one against croatia. an interesting question because it is difficult to know how much you can learn from this. it was a difficult selection board, he is without a number of key players, no chelsea players and harry maguire is out injured as well so he will have been looking to see what his fringe players can do, maybe some of those who might have been on the periphery of the england team. from the past two games, the one player who has shown is jack relation. he was fantastic tonight causing problems for remainiac and was at the centre for remainiac and was at the centre for everything for england. he won the penalty which marcus rashford

finished off. jordan henderson missed the second penalty which is something gareth southgate spoke about afterwards, he might have a word with henderson because that was not the plan. henderson had not played since february so maybe he wanted some of the glory but it did not work out for him. there were other positives, sam johnstone, the west brom goalkeeper made a fantastic save in the second half but the big question now for gareth southgate is which of his standby list of players replace the injured trent alexander arnold. have others done enough to force their way into the final 26 man squad that goes to the final 26 man squad that goes to the euros. southgate has said he will not decide just yet, you will assess the fitness of the players and make a decision 20 for a head of the game against croatia in a week.

he walked away unhurt. verstappen still led. hamilton remained stuck behind the two red bulls. i don't think i can overtake these guys. he needed some luck. verstappen out. another tire blowing the race and the championship back in hamilton's favour. could hamilton kick verstappen while he was down. the restart was his chance. the win was in his grasp. he overshot. sorry, guys. putting the brakes only on his title ambition. verstappen keeps the championship lead and perez takes a victory as memorable as it was unpredictable. to cricket and a rather disappointing final day of england's first test against new zealand at lords. chasing 273 to win, england's batsmen never really looked like chasing that total down, the match ending in a draw. patrick gearey*s been watching.
