good morning, welcome to bbc news. i'm victoria derbyshire. here are the latest headlines in the uk and around the world: not long now! it's all set for tomorrow night at wembley — a clash between england and italy to crown the winners of euro 2020. england captain harry kane wants to win it for supporters. i know they will all be there cheering us on around the country, and we just can't wait and we will hopefully try to win the game for them. italy are unbeaten after 33 matches, so expectations are sky—high there too, with fans desperately hoping their team can bring home their second euros trophy. fully vaccinated nhs staff could be let off having to self—isolate after contact with someone with covid, to try to tackle staff shortages.

haiti descends into chaos after their president was assassinated — it urges the united nations and the united states to send in troops. tomorrow evening the most important match the england men's football team have played in 55 years will get under way. victory against italy would be the first major tournament wind for england since the 1966 world cup. england captain harry kane has encouraged his team to enjoy this moment of history as millions across england prepare for the biggest match in decades. helena wilkinson reports.

the excitement is palpable, the anticipation almost unbearable. these children cannot wait until tomorrow's match. after each england game, they've been out on the streets waving their flags. as england fans count down the hours, they're making sure their support is seen. everything that can be decked out with an england flag has been. millions will be watching from homes, and pubs which will be allowed to stay open an extra 45 minutes, in case of extra time and penalties. wembley will be filled with around 60,000 supporters. england captain harry kane says the support means everything to the team. obviously going into the tournament where we play a lot of games at home, it's important to have that

connection and we definitely feel like we've had that, so, yeah, they'll all be there cheering us on around the country and we just can't wait to hopefully, yeah, try and win the game for them. as the match gets under way tomorrow, spare a thought for this divided household. chef giuseppe is italian. his wife sarah is english. half the family are english, half the family italian. i'm thinking after all these years maybe england deserve to win, but obviously inside me, i want italy to win. at the end of this, one of us is going to be really, really sad. and i want it to be you, not me. not long to wait now to see whether england's dreams really will come true. helena wilkinson, bbc news. let's talk to england supporter emma peach, who runs the three lions pub in stourport and has been showing

unprecedented pressure, with people who stayed away during the pandemic coming forward. it adds that while everyone wants to get back to normal life, a responsible approach when restrictions are lifted will be essential. the academy says because of the success of the vaccine rollout, rising cases are not translating into previous levels of hospital admissions and deaths, though numbers are rising steadily. although far fewer people are ending up in hospital and dying, at present, than had previously — because the vaccine's helping — actually, many people who get covid will go on to get long covid, and every person who ends up needing hospital care, needing care from a general practitioner, means that the nhs is going back under the difficult pressures it has faced before which is going to slow us down from getting back on with the backlog of work that we're desperately trying to clear. the medical leaders go on to say that people should act with care, including wearing face masks in crowded indoor areas. the government has previously argued

that a cautious approach had been taken with the roadmap in england, delaying the next step to allow for millions more vaccinations, so those most at risk are fully protected. ministers in scotland, wales and northern ireland what is the plan? it seems that as more and more people are testing positive for covid—19 before the remaining restrictions are lifted in england injust remaining restrictions are lifted in england in just over remaining restrictions are lifted in england injust over a remaining restrictions are lifted in england in just over a week, remaining restrictions are lifted in england injust over a week, of course the number of people being

at the age of 68. he scored 135 goals for ipswich and was part of bobby robson's fa cup—winning side of 1977—78. he also had stints at plymouth, arsenal, portsmouth and scored 13 goals for england. he later went on to play in australia and the united states and had managed plymouth argyle and toronto fc. there are reports that the lawmakers in haiti have nominated a senate as interim president. a rival political faction though, which includes the acting interim prime minister claudejoseph, says the move is unconstitutional. haitian officals have taken the extraordinary step of requesting military help from the united states and the united nations. courtney bembridge reports.

but the assassination has pitched the country deeper into turmoil. it's requested the united nations and the united states send troops to help secure the country and protect key infrastructure. the us has declined the request and the un may also be reluctant to get involved. i think the un is thoroughly sick of haiti, they had a 13—year peacekeeping force there that got in a lot of trouble in a lot of ways. the last thing being the cholera epidemic which the peacekeeping forces brought into haiti. so i think they don't really want to get entangled again. i think most outside forces don't want to get militarily entangled again in haiti if they can avoid it. adding to the uncertainty is the political situation — there is no working parliament, two men are claiming to be the prime minister, and a third of the senate has just nominated another man to lead as interim president. courtney bembridge, bbc news.

those are like my most prominent clients in the england team. i also have players' referrals. his work on phil foden's hair went viral with customers queueing up for a foden do. we'll keep it a bit wavy... a nice sharp ear line and of course the colour is not too blonde, it's a bit different from blonde, straying away from the blonde and sticking to more like a grey look. why did you decide to get the foden? i always like experimenting with my hair. ijust thought what better time to do it than now? we're in the finals and so might as well represent to the fullest. harry kane is remembered fondly by his old english and pe teacher at chingford foundation school in essex. absolutely lovely kid, very studious, clearly very gifted, a talented footballer, from a very early age. right from the very beginning it was clear to see that he had a special gift as far as football's concerned. but generally speaking, a really nice, all round very humble, well—behaved young man. has he credited you with some his...

yeah, it's all down to me, it's all down to my management. no, harry was such a talented boy, i'm sure he will probably realise it, he was in football clubs and academies from a very young age, so i'm sure there's lots and lots of people who've had a small part and a large part in his rise to fame. the school is somewhat of a footballer factory. david beckham is also a former pupil. it's like a conveyor belt of talent that we're developing here. it feels a bit crazy, to be honest, 'cause knowing that someone at a very high level in football went to my schooljust gives me the confidence to just carry on, being like them, playing football. yeah, it encourages everybody at the school to work hard and know that you can make it into professional football. that's what everyone wants to be in this school, everyone's playing, everyone wants to be a football player, yeah. in mosborough in sheffield, harry maguire's old home town, locals are proud of their boy. he's a very, very high—profile footballer but to us he's i still harry maguire.

he's still the local lad done good, that's what we see him as. - he's always got time to say hello. we're so proud of him, - very proud of him, we really, really are proud of him. and it's an honour tojust see him in and about the community - and be part of it. he's quite down—to—earth, just like anyone else. he doesn't act any different to the other customers and stuff like that, which is really nice. forjerry and deirdre in county kerry island, jack grealish is literally part of the family, albeit distantly. jack's grandmother and my dad would be first cousins. the kids are showing cousinjack their support on whatever canvas they can find. good luck, jack! harry, we're all rooting - for your here on mosborough high street. we want you to bring. it home to mosborough, we know you can do it. it's good for the country. let's go up there on sunday and bring it home, guys. harry, the whole of the team, you've done us proud so far, one more game to go, let's bring it home. on the shoulders of these local lads are carried the hopes of a whole nation. luxmy gopal, bbc news.

are now now it's time for a look at the weather with louise lear. morning some of those showers could be slow—moving with light winds. maybe the odd rumble of thunder. if you de see the best of the sunshine, temperatures will peak at 22 degrees. as we move out of saturday, some of those showers will be quite intense for a time but they will fade away with some clear skies. cloud and rain gathers out to the south—west and another friend is waiting in the wings to arrive slowly on sunday. it stays relatively mild, temperatures in two double figures. sunday morning will start off with cloud pushing into northern ireland, wales and south—west england. decent sunny spells will trigger off some sharp
