officials in ukraine say at least 35 people have been killed — and more than 130 others wounded in a russian missile attack, on a military base in yavoriv — a short drive from the polish border. ukraine's president zelensky has visited injured troops in a hospital in kyiv. earlier the president claimed almost 13,000 ukrainians have been killed since the russian invasion began 18 days ago. that figure can't be independently confirmed. the international red cross is warning mariupol is heading towards a worst—case scenario — unless aid reaches the besieged city soon. it says time is running out for those trapped and has called for an humanitarian agreement.

hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be bringing us tomorrow. with me are broadcaster and psychotherapist lucy beresford and joe twyman from deltapoll. tomorrow's front pages starting with. the guardian leads with russia's attack on a military base near poland, which is thought to have killed at least 35 people. the same story makes the front page of the telegraph. the newspaper says the us has warned russia it would face nato*s "full force" if attacks on ukraine strayed beyond the border. war has reached the nato border. so says the times, which carries a picture of the aftermath of the attack on the yavoriv base. the express calls the attack a "significant escalation" of the war,
11:32 pm
taking place so close to the border of poland — a nato member. and, the metro reports that volunteers in the uk are being urged to take ukrainian refugees into their homes. so, let's begin. the daily mail will focus on its front page. it has putin's deadly warning to the west. the male is saying that they've seen uk intelligence reports which suggest that the choice of this target that is so close to the border is clearly deliberate and illustrates what they're saying russia is willing to escalate should they not cease their supplies. this is a supply route to

hardware into ukraine but this intelligence report is worrying and if so highly targeted and with insinuating. it if so highly targeted and with insinuating.— if so highly targeted and with insinuatina. ., , , ., , ., insinuating. it would suggest as a warnin: insinuating. it would suggest as a warning shot _ insinuating. it would suggest as a warning shot but _ insinuating. it would suggest as a warning shot but metaphorically i insinuating. it would suggest as a i warning shot but metaphorically and literally that vladimir putin is making it clear that his forces are willing to strike anywhere within the boundaries of ukraine, including extremely close to a nato member and in this case, poland. and this is beenin in this case, poland. and this is been in the past used by nato for training exercises in ukraine is at the moment being used as a supply route and that is why the russians have attacked it in order to disrupt the flow of people coming in to the country to help ukrainian forces. and as the papers of said, this is a demonstration, it is sending a message to the west that vladimir putin could go for any area and that
11:34 pm
nothing could be taken for granted. all the papers focusing on this latest attack but the times focusing on more reaching the nato border and picking up on different aspects of this, but is reiterating the map of proximity of the attack, where the attack happened, the proximity of that border with poland, bearing in mind nearly 2 million people crossing the border and fleeing into poland, really highlighting just how close all of this is when it comes to reaching the eu in reaching nato. it this is when it comes to reaching the eu in reaching nato.- the eu in reaching nato. it also hiuuhlihts the eu in reaching nato. it also highlights how— the eu in reaching nato. it also highlights how much _ the eu in reaching nato. it also highlights how much president| the eu in reaching nato. it also - highlights how much president putin is determined _ highlights how much president putin is determined to _ highlights how much president putin is determined to show _ highlights how much president putin is determined to show that - highlights how much president putin is determined to show that no - highlights how much president putin is determined to show that no parts| is determined to show that no parts of the _ is determined to show that no parts of the ukraine is off limits and it will really— of the ukraine is off limits and it will really take it up to the wire, to the _

the west but he is within sight of the nato countries. six miles away from the polish border, that is extraordinarily close and i'm sure that the explosions and the effects would be over the border in poland and yes, extremely close to nato territory and extremely problematic. and other aspects that the papers are focusing on is the russia reportedly asking china for military assistance. we know they be getting support in terms of the optics of this but to ask specifically for military assistance, that takes it to the next stage. fin assistance, that takes it to the next stage-— assistance, that takes it to the next state. _, _, next stage. on some level, it could be seen to — next stage. on some level, it could be seen to take _ next stage. on some level, it could be seen to take it _ next stage. on some level, it could be seen to take it to _ next stage. on some level, it could be seen to take it to the _ be seen to take it to the next stage — be seen to take it to the next stage it _ be seen to take it to the next stage. it is always an argument to suggest _ stage. it is always an argument to suggest that if russia is having to
