start laughing. iam has to go up to me and go... and i start laughing. i am sure they are things wrong with it, i don't care about any of them.— about any of them. brilliant, brilliant. _ about any of them. brilliant, brilliant, i'm _ about any of them. brilliant, brilliant, i'm going _ about any of them. brilliant, brilliant, i'm going out - about any of them. brilliant, brilliant, i'm going out to - about any of them. brilliant, | brilliant, i'm going out to see about any of them. brilliant, i brilliant, i'm going out to see it tonight! we all lead a laugh, you're quite right. 50 tonight! we all lead a laugh, you're uuite riuht. , ' quite right. so very different, tiers, quite right. so very different, tigers. it _ quite right. so very different, tigers. it was _ quite right. so very different, tigers, it was the _ quite right. so very different, tigers, it was the swedish . quite right. so very different, i tigers, it was the swedish entry quite right. so very different, - tigers, it was the swedish entry at the 95th edition of the academy awards, it is inspired by the true life memoir of martin big storm, played by alfred enoch, who finds himself in a hostile environment thatis himself in a hostile environment that is necessarily competitive and being a pro football is all he has ever dreamt of, but the strains that come with it and his youth are just too much to bear and when he starts too much to bear and when he starts to crack the industry into which he has been inducted just has no interest in dealing with it, so on one hand they are very interested in his physical to this and making sure, oh, that is fine, but when it comes to anything to do with mental health is basically left on his own.
5:48 pm
this is directed by ronnie sandahl, who wrote the tennis drama, bob versus mcenroe and clearly understands the psychology of sport and for me this is really a portrait of a young man struggling with mental health issues that are not being paid any attention to by anyone else and it is engrossing and what i know about football wouldn't fill the back of a postage stamp, but it is not about football, it is about coming of age and mental health issues.— about coming of age and mental health issues. , . . , , health issues. yes, and that is why i'm so interested _ health issues. yes, and that is why i'm so interested to _ health issues. yes, and that is why i'm so interested to see _ health issues. yes, and that is why i'm so interested to see it - health issues. yes, and that is why i'm so interested to see it because | i'm so interested to see it because i'm so interested to see it because i am like you on the football front, but it almost wouldn't matter, it seems to me, from what i know which sport it is about, it is about the pressure he's under at a young age i do know are looking out for him or taking response ability for that. yes, and the environment he is in necessarily turns everyone in the house they are living in against each other because they are all competing for a place on the team, so it is an absolute dog eat dog world and that is the point of entry for me, not the sport, it doesn't matter what the sport is, it is the way in which a mental health is just
5:49 pm
left to deal with itself. we are worried about your cast of all the rest of it, but not the other stuff. i thought it was really interesting. really interesting, and ties in again with your first choice. it again with your first choice. it does, and it ties in with nitram, this is played by caleb landry jones, who won an oscar. this is a clearly disturbed a school kid, his dad says, you can't do that, his parents can't control him and then his path crosses with a wealthy woman played by davis, who is fantastic, who takes him in, buy some clothes and a car and connecting they appear to be having a relationship together, something his mother, played byjudy davis, is not entirely happy about. he was a clip. not entirely happy about. he was a cli . _ not entirely happy about. he was a cli -. , not entirely happy about. he was a cli . _ , ~' ., clip. something sweet i know he will like. goodness, _ clip. something sweet i know he will like. goodness, you _ clip. something sweet i know he will like. goodness, you know— clip. something sweet i know he will like. goodness, you know a - clip. something sweet i know he will like. goodness, you know a lot - clip. something sweet i know he will| like. goodness, you know a lot about m son.

5:51 pm
issues. the writer, shaun grant, started working on it when he was in america in the wake of a couple of terrible shootings and his mind went back to the 1996 port arthur massacre in australia, which was a lone shooter massacre, and he said he wanted to write a film which will make the audience, especially those pro—gun, to sit with a character who clearly should not have access to firearms and watch as they are so easily granted to him. and i think, obviously the film caused a lot of controversy because it is talking about a subject that is still in fairly recent history, but i think what is really important about it is it is a film about somebody with personal problems and those personal problems then become a national tragedy because into the equation you throw... tragedy because into the equation you throw- - -_ tragedy because into the equation you throw... yes. you throw the accessibility _ you throw... yes. you throw the accessibility of _ you throw... yes. you throw the accessibility of lethal _ you throw... yes. you throw the accessibility of lethal weapons and i thought that scene... i know you have seen the film as well, i hope you felt the same way i did, that scene is terrifying.— you felt the same way i did, that scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really _ scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really stuck _ scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really stuck with _ scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really stuck with me - scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really stuck with me and l scene is terrifying. yes, and that scene really stuck with me and i | scene really stuck with me and i thought the tempo of the film was
5:52 pm
very good because the scene in the gun shop is fairly late on, by which time you have formed a very strong picture of a man with enormous problems... picture of a man with enormous problems- - -_ picture of a man with enormous problems... yes and myjaw was on problems... yes and my 'aw was on the problems... iezs and myjaw was on the ground, saying, they are going to ask for a license now, you are going to have a note from a doctor or something, and he walked out with fast rapid weapons and... it is horrifying, absolutely horrifying. there is a moment on the kind gun shops is, you have got a license? and he says no, and he says, that is ok, we can... that is jaw dropping. that point, that is what the writer wanted to do, he wanted to get an audience of and show them a character who clearly was not someone who should own weapons and show them how easy it was, that is the point of the film. i do think it has other things as well, the characters are sturdy, but that was the point i took away, i found it very disturbing, but i also felt it did give the film a reason to revisit a story that was obviously very shocking and still very recent
5:53 pm
history. very shocking and still very recent histo . . very shocking and still very recent histo . , , , , , history. yes, it is upsetting, but there are a _ history. yes, it is upsetting, but there are a well _ history. yes, it is upsetting, but there are a well made _ history. yes, it is upsetting, but there are a well made and... i history. yes, it is upsetting, but| there are a well made and... and history. yes, it is upsetting, but - there are a well made and. .. and you there are a well made and... and you believe in the — there are a well made and... and you believe in the characters, _ there are a well made and... and you believe in the characters, you - believe in the characters, you really believe in the characters. yes, very impressive. 50 really believe in the characters. yes, very impressive.— yes, very impressive. so best outcome _ yes, very impressive. so best outcome elvis. _ yes, very impressive. so best outcome elvis. yes, - yes, very impressive. so best outcome elvis. yes, i- yes, very impressive. so best outcome elvis. yes, i am - yes, very impressive. so best. outcome elvis. yes, i am really yes, very impressive. so best- outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't seen _ outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't seen it _ outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't seen it yet, _ outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't seen it yet, i'm _ outcome elvis. yes, i am really sad i haven't seen it yet, i'm generally | i haven't seen it yet, i'm generally very sad about that, to top my list. he is one you should seek an elvis. yes, i thought you might have some pointers. it yes, i thought you might have some ointers. . yes, i thought you might have some ointers. , , ., yes, i thought you might have some ointers. , , . , pointers. it is brilliant, it is absolutely _ pointers. it is brilliant, it is absolutely brilliant. - pointers. it is brilliant, it is absolutely brilliant. it - pointers. it is brilliant, it is absolutely brilliant. it is i pointers. it is brilliant, it is| absolutely brilliant. it is bad lumen, it has all the musical madness of milan rouge, the what all of it craziness of australia, the reverence of the great gatsby, the shakespearean tragedy of romeo and juliet, the story of elvis as played by tom hanks and... austin butler, austin butler is particularly amazing as presley, lots of people have said it is all flash, but nonsense, it is a film that actually understand the subject, gets under the skin of its object and does so in a way that is kinetic and vibrant. if you have no interest in
