hello, and welcome to day ten at the commonwealth games. what a fantastic day it has been so far. 45 gold medals available. several of them still to be won. but the home nations have really shone in the boxing ring. 16 boxing finals today and an impressive 15 involving england, scotland, northern ireland or wales. let's start with rosie eccles, who has become only the second welsh woman to win commonwealth boxing gold after she took the light middlewight title. the 26—year—old beat australia's kaye scott, forcing two standing counts with the referee calling it in the second round. a great day for northern ireland in the ring. dylan eagleson beat ghana's abraham mensah

to win bantamweight gold. jude gallagher won without stepping into the ring — his opponent was declared unfit for their featherweight final. aidan walsh won the light middleweight final and amy broadhurst claimed gold in women's light welterweight. ijust i just wanted that gold ijust wanted that gold medal so bad, the last few months have been hard work so it's good to get the gold. gold too for samuel hickey who beat callum peters of australia by a split decision in the middleweight division. scotland have already had their most successful commonwalth games, outside of glasgow 2014. two more boxing golds followed as sean lazzerini beat wales�* taylor bevan in the light heavyweight final and reese lynch got a closely—fought win over mauritius�* louis richarno colin.

and england won their first boxing gold thanks to lewis williams. he was given a unanimous decision win over his samoan opponent in the men's heavyweight final. in the last few minutes, scotland's laura muir has won 1500 metres gold. muir ran clear of northern ireland's ciara mageean who finished second, and jemma reekie of scotland who took the bronze mendal. it's scotland's 12th gold medal of the games — the same amount they won in melbourne in 2006. but a fantastic run from laura muir. she has wanted this for a long time and adds to her 800 metre bronze medal that she won a few days ago. the england women's hockey team took gold after beating australia in the final. there was also a thrilling

gold for the england men's 4x 100 metre relay, plus a first ever medal in the beach volleyball with the bello twins winning bronze. jo currie has a round—up of the action so far. four years ago it was england's netballers who stole the show at the commonwealth games on the gold coast. today it was the turn of the women's hockey team to light up birmingham. the team's first ever commonwealth gold medal came after a 2—0 win over australia. goals from holly hunt and tess howard securing the victory and a place in history. elsewhere on the penultimate day of the games, there were 44 other gold medals up for grabs, with 15 of them coming on the athletics track. having won the men's 4x100 metres four years ago, england's sights are set firmly on defending their title, and they did it in some style, finishing well clear of trinidad and tobago, to the joy of the birmingham crowd. anna boran brings it home. in the women's race, england followed up the men by claiming silver behind nigeria, cheered on by their biggest supporter. it's the first race he's actually seen me
