we'll be reacting to news of ellen white's retirement. the pressure*s building at manchester united with more protests against the club's ownership — ahead of a huge night against arch—rivals liverpool. i'm 0lly foster live at old trafford where the united fans have been arriving with some trepidation so early in this evening, but this match has huge significance for them for the coming months. and could a mega—fight between 0leksandr usyk and tyson fury be a step closer? fury*s promoter frank warren tells me it's going to happen. there are no problems of rivalry in tv companies or whatever, he is a free agent — tv companies or whatever, he is a free agent as we are, and i don't think_ free agent as we are, and i don't think it _ free agent as we are, and i don't think it is — free agent as we are, and i don't think it is going to be a problem getting — think it is going to be a problem getting the fight made.

hello and welcome to sportsday. the latest from a big evening in the premier league at old trafford to come, but first. ellen white, england's all time leading goalscorer, has announced her retirement. the 33—year—old said it was one of the hardest decisions but wanted to go out on her terms. white is the all—time top scorer for the lionesses. she scored 52 goals in 113 games for her country, representing great britain at the 2012 olympics as well. she was part of the team that won the women's euros last month too. in a social media post entitled thank you football, she said it was the greatest honour to play the game and in particular playing for england, adding the next generation can make their dreams come true as well. she paid tribute to all those she had had the pleasure of playing within her career. joe curry has reported on england for most of ellen white's international career,

supporters, a fairly large selection, have turned up the volume on the anti—glazer sentiment. they have been protesting for a number of years, over a decade, about the club's stewardship, notjust because of these poor results, and asjoe hinske reports, whatever happens here over the next few hours could set the tone for the next few months of united's season. manchester united start the night in the premier league's bottom three. most fans say the cause is at the top of the club. last year when they played liverpool, they made that clear. two police officers are injured after a major security breach at old trafford with hundreds of fans invading the pitch. it was the first premier league match called off due to protests and since then it's got worse. liverpool won here 5—0 last october. last week united lost 4—0 at brentford.

but if it happens, i think we should get the points. i don't think and i really hope this will not happen. i have no idea what what could happen. don't think about it. but in a situation like this, always the other team should get the points. the owners want to win and the fans, we want them behind the club. - and i can understand sometimes, but i'm not that long in the club. that i can see all the backgrounds, but we have to fight together. - between them, liverpool and united have won 39 league titles, but both go here for a first win of the season. it is both clubs' most significant fixture, and it is no fluke the fans make a stand before this match. , , ., fluke the fans make a stand before this match-— this match. this is the one where international— this match. this is the one where international focus _ this match. this is the one where international focus is _ this match. this is the one where international focus is on - this match. this is the one where international focus is on the - this match. this is the one where| international focus is on the club. across the globe, people take an interest in it, and therefore it is the one where you can make your protest be seen to a much, much wider audience.

people are describing it as a relegation six pointer. if united win, they'll be a point ahead of liverpool. i don't think that's going to happen. united are so far behind liverpool that i cannot see them putting in a proper challenge. at this stage they look chaotic. today a champions league when i said goodbye to real madrid. united are set to sign a real madrid midfielder, but the fans say the big names cover the cracks. most of all at old trafford, they want change — on the pitch and at the top. joe lynskey, bbc news. it does promise to be an intriguing evening. let's bring andy mitten, footballjournalist evening. let's bring andy mitten, football journalist and evening. let's bring andy mitten, footballjournalist and editor of football journalist and editor of united footballjournalist and editor of united we stand. i know there are thousands of fans who will march on the ground behind the sydney next few hours protesting against the glazers. does it stop at the glazers, do you think? 0r glazers. does it stop at the glazers, do you think? or is there something more seriously wrong with the club crest white the glazers
