hello, thanks forjoining me. it has been a very changeable week across most of the uk with gusty winds, frequent showers, and it's going to stay quite unsettled in the north—west of the uk. elsewhere across the country, certainly southern parts of the uk are in for drier, brighter weather. here is the forecast for saturday, and high pressure is building in from the south—west, so much lighter winds, much drier weather compared to what we had on friday. so here is the morning onwards, then, around about midday, light winds across england and wales, a bit of fair weather cloud building, that is pretty much it. temperatures around 15—16, so it will feel pleasant enough. more of a breeze in western scotland and the northern isles, perhaps some showers here and also cooler, around 12 or 13 degrees. very little change expected later in the day on saturday, saturday night into sunday, at least across

england and wales. but eventually this weather and will sweep into the north—west by sunday morning, so an increasing wind in northern ireland and in western scotland, whereas elsewhere it will be clear and quite chilly again, five degrees. the high pressure that will have established itself on saturday across the uk moves out of the scene. the weather front sweeps in associated with this low close to iceland, and really quite wet in northern ireland and western scotland on sunday, but the weather front will be very slow to move to the south and the east and by evening it will be reaching northern parts of wales, maybe lancashire, but to the east of the pennines, generally bright, at least dry, and the further south you are the sunnier it will be, so in london some sunshine and 18 on sunday. on sunday and monday the weather front sweeps across the uk but as it reaches the south there won't be an lot of rain, just dribs and drabs and high pressure once again builds in from the west. so for many of us, monday will be a sunny one, at least across the southern

half of the uk, eastern areas as well, but towards the north—west with more of an ocean wind, we have cloud and maybe some showers there for the western isles. high—pressure tries to dominate the weather in the south on tuesday, but these weather fronts sweep into the north—west, so i think thick cloud, this is still some days away so the details aren't going to be right, but we will see probably thickening cloud and dribs and drabs of rain over the north—west, whereas if you live to the east of the pennines and elsewhere towards the south the weather is looking generally fine with temperatures around 15 or 16 celsius. let's have a look at wednesday, try and pinpoint what will be happening — again we think high—pressure probably holding onto the weather in the south, but this weather front moves in, probably not an awful lot of rain, if anything a bit of cloud and increasing wind, not much rainfall in the south—east, we don't think on wednesday. the temperatures again around the mid—teens i think for most of us.
4:57 am
so this is about as far as we will probably concentrate on the details, let's look at the bigger picture now from thursday onwards. thursday and friday, what i want to point out is this big dips in the jetstream that the computer models are forecasting, you see these big dips in the jetstream, quite often we see a large area of low pressure nestled within it here, and that really does spell unsettled weather, frequent heavy showers, gusty winds at times as well, a really prolonged spell of unsettled weather end of next week and into next weekend. bye— bye.
