it the guess that's why they call it the blues! we will find less fog over the last few days. most of the mist and fog we have seen recently has lifted slowly but surely, over this weekend there will be much less fog mainly because the wind will be picking up a notch or two. it will be an easterly wind which will make it feel colder, sunshine and maybe one or two showers, that is the type of weather we had seen in eastern england, welcome sunshine in lincolnshire. lots of cloud on the satellite picture, we have this misty grey zone across north—west england, east wales, the midlands, quite cold here for the rest of the day. one or two showers on the easterly breeze, still quite cloudy across much of scotland and northern ireland and the cloudy, misty zone will be swept up to the north—west into the north—west of scotland, keeping it milder, it gets colder and clearer in other parts of

scotland and we will see broken cloud across england and wales. temperatures close to freezing, less fog, a bit more frost, some showers coming in. we still have cloud in northern ireland, staying cloudy in north—west scotland, other parts of scotland are seeing sunshine and we will get sunshine for england and wales, more showers into eastern areas on that breeze, looks quite cloudy in the afternoon for the south—east of england and it will be another chilly day, temperatures about seven or 8 degrees quite widely. getting colder and the weather pattern is quite blog because of high pressure extending across parts of russia and scandinavia, giving us an easterly wind which will pick up during the second top of the weekend, and we have a mixture of cloud, sunshine, maybe showers too more across the northern half of the uk, it looks quite cloudy. we have an easterly breeze, it is not a particularly strong winds but it will be quite

noticeable on sunday and it is getting colder as the weekend goes on, temperatures typically five or six but factoring in the easterly wind it will probably feel quite a bit colder. over next week we stay in the cold air, we will find lots of dry weather around at least to begin with but you can see how the temperatures are dropping away next week, it will get even colder and feel colder as the wind picks up again. we started speak with an easterly wind but from tuesday and wednesday onwards the wind comes from the north all the way from greenland, bringing sunshine and also some wintry showers. there is a little bit of snow in the forecast mainly for coastal areas across northern parts of the uk, it will be feeling northern parts of the uk, it will be feelin- colder. northern parts of the uk, it will be feeling northern parts of the uk, it will be feelin- colder. i’m northern parts of the uk, it will be feeling northern parts of the uk, it will be feelin- colder. i’m still northern parts of the uk, it will be feeling northern parts of the uk, it will be feelin: colder. * , , ., feeling colder. i'm still standing! no candles _ feeling colder. i'm still standing! no candles in — feeling colder. i'm still standing! no candles in that _ feeling colder. i'm still standing! no candles in that wind, - feeling colder. i'm still standing! | no candles in that wind, darren?! thank you. our top story: on a visit to ukraine the archbishop of

1:43 pm
that i've just brushed against it. oh, there's a post there. i think we go right round the post. so, to help people with impaired or no vision... we're coming up to the door. there's a sound of the echo. ..network rail has teamed up with the bristol sight loss council to create an audio guide, an audio map of bristol temple meads, available on a smartphone. 'the ticket barriers - are white and grey branded. |'the left hand side of the ticketj gate is for entering the station, 'and the right hand side i is for exiting, so keep left 'as you go towards them.* going through the gate... now it's telling us we're on platform three. and it's telling us to turn right, to go to the stairs of the subway. alan davis has helped to write the guide. it includes details that a sighted person might not think of. 'you'll walk up a very tiny slope and you'll feel the floor surfacej 'change from rough to smooth.* so we're looking for the tactile... alan and anila are putting the guide to the test — the ticket barriers, the coffee kiosks, the stairs. no, we're fine, thanks.
1:44 pm
thank you. like anything, a train station, for a totally blind person, is a frightening environment. flipping heck, i wish i'd had this when i moved to bristol. it would have made so much of a difference to me, because it's all about confidence, it's all about knowing the environment you're going into. so, if you come across something you weren't expecting, if you've heard it in advance, you obviously know about it. so therefore, you're taking some of the fear and anxiety away. so the sound changes even when there's a gap, and then when it closes up again. details include the station's changing sounds, and even its smells. and look, the sound here has changed. i can already smell the pasties. yeah. and the temperature is changing as well. it's getting a bit warmer, which is nice. and the sound is very different down here now. there is an assistant service at stations. but the hope for this guide is that it will further increase the confidence and independence for a variety of passengers. for people who haven't had
1:45 pm
the confidence to travel on their own, people who have thought they can't travel on their own, people who are just scared to travel on their own, i think it's going to be life changing for lots and lots of visually impaired people, but it's also going to change things for other people who don't have confidence. the guide, the first in the uk, was born out of the station's major refurbishment. in some places the physical layout has been altered, and this is a way to let passengers with a visual impairment know what has changed. 'please be aware that there j are large scaffolding towers 'on the platform after you have - passed through the main ticket gate, 'approximately six feet awayj immediately in front of you.* but now, the ambition is to roll it out at other stations. we're now looking at paddington and looking at how we can develop, because if we can help people with visual impairments and visual problems get around paddington much better, that will be great for them and it'll be great for us. the audio guide goes live today, and will be adapted and improved with feedback, using the soundscape

now for the stories making the headlines across the uk. there is a shortage of workers needed to meet the government climate targets. bbc look east has been told that 16,000 workers are needed every year for 20 years in the south—east to bring homes up to standard, things like solar panels and heat pumps. one green energy organisation had two big cash gift pack 15 pounds in grants to the government because there weren't enough companies available to do the work. ben schofield reports. demand for solar panels is so high this cambridge firm has a six—month waiting list. hiring skilled staff another challenge. it is waiting list. hiring skilled staff another challenge.— another challenge. it is really difficult to —

1:51 pm
this is the reality of emergency care now, notjust here, but in hospitals around the country. sadly ambulance queueing is a fact for us, it is with many other trusts at the moment. patients who arrive by ambulance are often unable to sit out in the waiting room, it is not appropriate and if we don't have a physical cubicle free for them then they have to wait. we always find ways for the most critically ill so those who need resuscitation we will move even and earth to find a space and to get them in. every available cubicle and chair in here is occupied. many by patients stuck here because there is no space on the wards to take them. at the moment, we have 56 patients who have completed the emergency department stage of their care, who have been referred for ongoing treatment but are still in the department waiting to be admitted. so that is 56 people who should be in a bed in the hospital, but can't be at the moment? that is correct. this respiratory ward, like all the wards is full. but many of the patients don't need to be here. so this ward has about 34 patients and most of the people we have ant ten patients at least who are medically

optimised for discharge. the problem is a lack of social care provision, so the trust is now providing some of its own, a couple of miles down the road from the royal preston it has taken over a luxury 96 bed nursing home. this one of our rooms that each patient will come into. - so as you see really spacious, great space to work with, they are all standard, we have a bed, we've got come but chair, we've got wardrobe, plenty of storage areas and we have an en suite. the idea is that patients stay here for days or weeks until a longer term social care package is ready. we want the environment for people coming out of hospital, to be a calm, relaxing environment where they can continue their recovery from their acute illness. i think we will see more of this, i think we will see more of hospitals supporting with social care and stepping into the social care market. other hospital trusts will be watching carefully. gill dummigan, bbc north west today, preston.

there are plenty of 2023 calendars on sale at the moment, as people get ready for a the new year. but there's something newjoining the lineup, looking for a space on your wall — the roundabouts of nuneaton. they've been photographed at night, from the air — and the images are rather spectacular. ben sidwell took a road trip to warwickshire to find out more. in the dark, from the ground, nuneaton's roundabouts might not seem all that special. but it's when you look up that you see them in a very different light. whenjohn neal took his drone out one night in nuneaton, he noticed something very different. the town's many roundabouts took on a magical beauty when viewed from the sky in the dark. you don't see that shot from the air, unless you are in an aeroplane, and when you do, wow, that is fantastic.
1:56 pm
so using the drone, which we have got nowadays, it is just a fantastic shot to see, particularly when you can see the streetlights at twilight. so enamoured with the drone images, john decided to transform them into a calendar. it is for charity, it is for the local air ambulance and also, of course, they are from the air, so it all seemed to fit together quite nicely. however, when it comes to nuneaton's roundabouts, there can be very few people that know them better than ray seagrave. this, in terms of my top five, would probably be number two. it is one of the most tricky roundabouts to do at certain times of day. he has been teaching drivers how to negotiate them for the past 12 years. those that live in nuneaton, i think they look on their roundabouts with affection. we have quite a few of them that we negotiate every day. so, yeah, we come to love them, in a way.
1:57 pm
but to get a true judgment ofjust how beautiful nuneaton's roundabouts really are, you need the approval of this man, king of the islands, lord of the rings and founder of the roundabout appreciation society, kevin beresford. i think they are rated very, very highly. i mean, the one behind us, for instance, we voted this one, the dandelion roundabout, the roundabout of the year about five years ago. when i came to nuneaton, it was on a beautiful summer's day. i had all my car windows down and i could actually feel that roundabout. and i think all the other roundabouts in nuneaton have a good look about them. john's calendar is now on sale in nuneaton, which means you can take your own trip around the town's spectacular roundabouts on your way to get one. time now for a look at the weather.
