hello, i'm tulsen tollett, live from the bbc sport centre. coming up on this programme... live from the bbc sport centre. managerless, midtable and misguided — chelsea's first game since sacking graham potter ends in a goalless draw against liverpool problems for theirformer manager too — as thomas tuchel*s bayern munich are knocked out of the german cup and ready to roar — mcilroy says he believes that this will be the year he completes the career grand slam — by winning the masters. thanks forjoining us. it's been a busy evening of european football — most notably in the english premier league — with four

matches taking place. the big match of the night — didn't really live up to expectations. chelsea — in their first match since sacking graham potter — could only draw 0—0 with liverpool at stamford bridge. the home side did have two goals disallowed but that was the best of the action — in what was a sobering night in west london. the draw leaves chelsea 11th, liverpool are eighth — seven points off the champions league qualification places. it's football. there are the laws and the referees. they try to take the best decisions that they can. yes, it's frustrating for the players because we creating chances, we scoring high scoring offside. it will come it will come to the boys because they deserve it. they keep pushing. we ask them to play with their heart. they did it and just focus on the next day. he came here. now a team with six changes to play the best

game of the season. what i wanted to see is a proper fight. and i thought the boys who came in used the opportunity. they were there. they really showed that they are ready. and that's an important thing for me. at the bottom end of the table, leeds united took a big step towards safety — by beating fellow strugglers nottingham forest. they had to come from behind to do so though — winning 2—1 at elland road. the win lifts leeds out of the relegation zone and up to 13th — whilst the pressure is mounting on forest boss steve cooper — they're only outside the bottom three on goal difference. bournemouth are the team just below nottingham forest — and have dropped back into the relegation zone. they lost 2—0 at home to brighton — who's remarkable season goes on — they're now sixth — just four points off the top four. and just behind brighton are aston villa — who made it five wins from their last six in the league. they left it late to beat leicester 2—1 — with their opponents now 19th — and looking for a new manager following the sacking of brendan rodgers on sunday.

there's been a huge shock in the german cup — as 20—time winners bayern munich are out after a late penalty saw them beaten 2—1 by freiburg. france international dayot upamecano handed bayern the lead just before the 20 minute mark and nicolas hoefler levelled matters shortly after. the match was heading for extra time untiljamal musiala's handball in the 95th minute handed freiburg the chance of victoruy and lucas hoeler slotted home the penalty. of victory and lucas hoeler slotted home the penalty. and freiburg will take on eintracht frankfurt in the last four after they beat union berlin 2—0. france international randal kolo muani scored twice in the space of a minute in the first half, while his team also had a goal disallowed by var. elsewhere in europe, a pablo ibanez goal in extra time saw osasuna into the copa del rey final after they beat athletic bilbao 2—1 on aggregate. they'll play the winners of barcelona and real madrid — who clash on wednesday with barcelona leading

1—0 from the first leg. in italy, romelu lukaku struck a stoppage time equaliser for holders inter milan atjuventus in the first leg of their coppa italia semi final, as it finished i—i. in what was a replay of last year's final the second leg will be later this month at the san siro with the winner to face either cremonese or fiorentina. meanwhile in the netherlands, the fairy tale run of amatuer side spakenburg is over — as they were beaten in the semi finals of the dutch cup by psv. the dutch giants won 2—1 and will now face either feyenoord or ajax in the final. on the international stage, switzerland have been confirmed as hosts of the women's euros in 2025. they beat a four country nordic bid, plus france and poland. switzerland's fa president dominique blanc, says he's looking forward to promoting women's football after england's successful tournament last year. i was also in england
12:50 am
last year. i used to stay two and a half weeks in manchester to follow our national teams and other teams, and i think it's a very good example for switzerland. also, we have not so big stadium in switzerland, but in average we can cover all the needs of the fans. now there's not long to wait now until one of the most iconic golf tournaments of the year gets under way. the masters begins at augusta on thursday — with america's scottie scheffler the defending champion. our sports correspondent andy swiss is there for us — to preview the tournament. well, welcome to augusta, where, as you can see, the crowds have been flocking to watch the players fine tune their preparations. let's have a chat with the bbc*s golf correspondent ian carter in. thanks very much indeed forjoining us. first of all, there's a lot of interest in the live golf players who are here from the breakaway tour. a lot of people suggesting there might be sort of friction
12:51 am
and tension with the rest of the competitors here. what are you sensing about that? 18 of them here, six of them former champions. there is undoubtedly friction in the background because it's been there all along. there is litigation going on between the two camps. we know that both camps have been outspoken about each other. so to be perfectly honest, if players say we're parking that and there's nothing there, you've got to take that with a pinch of salt. having said that, this is the masters and each and every one of the players competing here, whether they're liv, or pga tour or from the dp world tour, they are here with one thing in mind, and that is to beat this golf course, concentrate on their own ball, and put all the background noise into the background. and i think that's what's happening. and i think that is why we're hearing so many conciliatory kind of messages from the players in the course of this week. and one of the favourites, of course, to win here this week is rory mcilroy. we heard from him this morning
12:52 am
in his press conference. how confident do you think he will be of his chances this week? i've just spoken to him. he sounds very confident. he's very, very relaxed. seemingly, he knows what's at stake to become a member of golfing history only he would be only the sixth to have won all four of the major titles. and this is his ninth attempt to do that. and we can feel a little bit of rain in the air at the moment. the forecast is a little bit dodgy. i think back to when rory mcilroy was winning his first couple of majors, they were in very similar conditions. he won't mind it at all if it gets a bit wet over the course of the four days. and briefly, his leading challenge is obviously scottie scheffler, who won last year. yeah, we're in a really interesting period at the moment. scottie scheffler is the defending champion. he's the world number one. he's the man to beat. jon rahm has been on fire this season. rory mcilroy onlyjust behind. there's a big three in men's golf right now. but you know what it's like at the masters? the champion could come from anywhere. it's a bit like the grand national in that respect. but i do think there are three lead contenders. mcilroy is in there. scheffler, the man to beat rahm, the other
12:53 am
one to consider. well, ian carter, many thanks indeed forjoining us. so there we have it should be an intriguing masters when the action gets under way on thursday. so mcilroy amongst the favourites according to iain carter — but what about the man himself? is this the year mcilroy finally completes the career grand slam? it's a major championship. i've won four of them. i've been knocking on the door for that fifth one for a while. so i feel like i'm as good of, if not better, a player as i was the last time i won a major championship. so i'm feeling pretty good about it. former england rugby star luther burrell says he's "proud" after a rugby football union investigation found his claims of racism in the sport were true. he chose not to name any of the players involved saying he wasn't looking for retribution. his club at the time, newcastle falcons say " had reports of this nature been made to hr or management they would have been dealt with in the appropriate manner. going forward the club will focus on education as recommended in the report".

it comes as the english rfu launch an inclusion and diversity action plan for the elite game. the one off test match between bangladesh and ireland in mirpur is finely poised after the opening day. ireland won the toss and elected to bat but despite a half century from debutant harry tector it was left arm spinner taijul islam who stole the show for the hosts with figures of five for 58. in response bangladesh were reduced to sa for two at stumps as ireland look for a first ever win in their fourth test match since becoming a full member of the international cricket council in 2017. in the indian premier league — defending champion gujarat titans beat the delhi capitals by six wickets to make it consecutive wins. the home side delhi were sent in to bat after losing the toss and captain david warner top scored with 37 but was hard pressed to find much support as his side made 162 for eight. sai sudharsan finished unbeaten on 62 for the titans
12:55 am
as they chased down the target with 11 balls to spare and david miller was also there at the end having just arrived in the country on the morning of the game. we've been very successful with with regards to chasing, as i mentioned it, after the game that we've we've kind of been very calm throughout chasing and confidence is a big part to play and obviously being very successful over last season and now the last two games i think, yeah, definitely take a lot of confidence from that as a team and i think it'sjust about doing the same things, you know, thinking there are things under pressure, making the correct decisions and not necessarily panicking too early and get all. you can get all the latest sports news at our website but from me and the rest of the team at the bbc sport centre, goodbye.
12:56 am
hello there. at this time of year, with light winds and a little bit of shelter, you can just start to feel the strength of the sunshine, but clear skies overnight can still lead to substantial frost. we have —6 celsius in parts of oxfordshire first thing on tuesday morning, lots of blue sky and sunshine stayed all day, and in kew gardens by the middle of the afternoon, 15 celsius was the high — very nice indeed. the story is changing, though, and it's because of these frontal systems that are pushing in from the northwest. the clearest of the skies over the next few hours will be in the southeast corner here. touch of light, frost possible, but with outbreaks of rain developing and more cloud around, it is going to be a much milder start to the day. but there will be some wet weather around, moving its way out of scotland, pushing into northern england and across wales. showery rain to begin with, but another batch of wet weather will start to move
12:57 am
in by the middle part of the afternoon. so, clouding over, but it should stay dry in east anglia for much of the day. highs here of 13 degrees. there'll be some showery outbreaks of rain and some heavier bursts pushing into wales and northwest england. a brighter afternoon, though, to close out the day in northern ireland and western scotland as the weather fronts start to drift their way steadily eastwards. still staying relatively mild for the time of year, that rain still has to clear away eastwards, and as it does so, well, we'll see clearer skies and temperatures will be a little bit lower out to the west by thursday morning. but thursday morning we'll see that rain easing away, and then a little ridge of high pressure will slowly start to build in from the west and quieten things down. so, yes, a cloudy, grey start across eastern areas, a few scattered showers remaining as we go through the day, but an improving picture. there will be some sunshine coming through. light winds still coming from a northwesterly direction on thursday, so that will make it feeljust that little bit fresher.
12:58 am
temperatures are likely to peak between 8—13 celsius. now, as we move out of thursday into the start of the long easter weekend, high pressure is set to build in for a couple of days at least. these weather fronts trying to push in from the atlantic, but they will take their time in doing so. so, not a bad start to the easter weekend — dry, settled and sunny before the risk of some rain arrives slowly but surely for easter sunday afternoon. take care.
