ou. back to northern ireland, waiting for pleasant biden leaving that hotel. meeting with leaders of the five main northern ireland political parties. we know he has said as he landed that he wants peace but we know he will be gentle in his conversation with those political leaders, he has to trade a rather tricky path and in fact the dup have accused him of being anti—british. he has said today he is not anti—british, the white house have insisted that as he began this series of engagements they said he was there to listen as he had tea
11:56 am
with rishi sunak and he said the trip was an opportunity to reaffirm support for the good friday agreement, 25 years after the peace deal was reached. and also to encourage the restoration of power—sharing. something that collapsed due to the dup protest over post—brexit rules. now the weather. hello again. wet and windy start to the day and that is how it is set to continue. the strongest winds will be with exposure in parts of the west and the south but even these areas it will be windy. we have sunshine on offer as well. a lot of showers, some merging to give some longer spells of rain. but it is the wind that really will be a feature of the weather.
11:57 am
the met office has recently updated the weather warnings. yellow warnings but with exposure in south and west wales, the north coast of cornwall and devon, we could have gusts up to 75 miles an hour. through the english channel, gusts of up to 60 miles an hour. even inland in the south, gusts up to 50 miles an hour. for some of us, it is not going to be as windy as that but it will be in the northern isles and that wind and the shower is making it feel cool. this evening and overnight, many of the showers ease but we will have bands of showers pushing from the west towards the east. the wind will gradually ease as well and it is going to be another chilly night. temperatures close to freezing in parts of the highlands. so as we head on into tomorrow. tomorrow, the low pressure driving our weather today continues just a week and a touch as it pushes into the north sea. just to weaken a touch as it pushes into the north sea. the isobars open out, so tomorrow is going to be a day of sunshine and some showers. but fewer showers than we are looking at today and we are also looking at the wind is being much lighter than today as well. looking at the wind being much
11:58 am
lighter than today as well. temperatures as a result won't feel as cold. we are looking at eight in the north, to about 13 as we push down towards the south. you can see the signs of something else just coming in from the atlantic. that is this area of low pressure and it looks like during friday, it could take a swipe at southern counties of england and also wales. the northern extent of this still open to a bit of question. if you are doing anything outdoors, do keep in touch with the weather forecast. push north and it's a mixture of sunshine and also some showers. those temperatures 8 in the north, to about 13 as we sweep down towards the south. heading on into the weekend, there will be dry weather, some of us will see some showers or some rain at times but the main feature is going to get milder and milder again at the start of next week.
