grandad, uncle, dad, whateverage you are, you always loved him and what you saw on screen was basically what you saw on screen was basically what len was all about. but the bit of len is that he could be really grumpy. grumpy goodman is when i called him but he was just my kind of guy so he was, he dealt with harsh reality because i wasn't a very good dancer and he gave it to be straight but he always encouraged everybody on the show, everybody involved in the show and, let's be honest, he made the show, along with the likes of bruce forsyth, the show that it the likes of bruce forsyth, the show thatitis the likes of bruce forsyth, the show that it is and that we all love in our millions.— that it is and that we all love in our millions. ., , ., ,., our millions. you must do something riaht our millions. you must do something right because — our millions. you must do something right because you _ our millions. you must do something right because you ended _ our millions. you must do something right because you ended up - our millions. you must do something right because you ended up winning i right because you ended up winning it. did he keep the persona onstage and offstage as well then? was he never, did he not have a grumpy moment? he never, did he not have a grumpy moment? . , never, did he not have a grumpy moment?— never, did he not have a grumpy moment? ., _ moment? he was always grumpy. eve bod moment? he was always grumpy. everybody involved _ moment? he was always grumpy. everybody involved in _ moment? he was always grumpy. everybody involved in the - moment? he was always grumpy. everybody involved in the show. moment? he was always grumpy. i everybody involved in the show loved him for being grumpy. that's the

thing, everybody loved all len brought to the programme. i've played a lot of golf with lent away from the show and he would always moan about the, i am blocked out by the trays are it's a slow play or something like that. everything got on his nerves but it never stopped him from making everybody laugh along with him. 0h, him from making everybody laugh along with him. oh, i have to fly to america tomorrow. first class flight, you have to do dancing with the stars and that i am playing golf at pebble beach. i will be exhausted. you would look at them and say are you sure then? and then he would laugh and give you a wink. that's what he was all about and everybody wanted to please them, when there was a professional dancers or the amateur dancers, everybody wanted to get the nod from then. it was the magical seven, everybody was happy what you wanted a bit of recognition from him and if you got it you knew you were on the right path. {iii you got it you knew you were on the riaht ath. _, , you got it you knew you were on the riaht ath. , ,.. ,, right path. of course, success in terms of tv _ right path. of course, success in terms of tv success _ right path. of course, success in terms of tv success came i right path. of course, success in

terms of tv success came to i right path. of course, success in| terms of tv success came to him quite late in life. how did he find the energy, especially with all the travel between britain and the us? i don't know where he found it. if you think about it, for a lot of people who are involved in this programme, whether it thejudges who are involved in this programme, whether it the judges are dancers, there isn't a lot of money on it or start a minute, you just have to have a passion for what you are doing and that is something i acquired by getting to know everybody and seeing the passion. this hundreds of dancers that would go to blackpool to try and win a championship. those guys going around the dance studios all over the country that just want to get a little bit better. if you think that before strictly come dancing, len had as dance studio in dartford and he would do small dance sessions and then towards the end of his life, he was a global tv star. but the magical thing about len is that he did not change one little bit. so

all of his comments, the comments that he would give to students in his dance studio was that it didn't matter if you're a global star, they were exactly the same comments and they were always encouraging, sometimes a bit naughty and close to the mark but always for the dancer wanted, so i am very much a sports person that dealt with reality and that's what i got and i loved him for it. , ., , , ., for it. chris, lovely tribute to len goodman- _ for it. chris, lovely tribute to len goodman. it's _ time for a look at the weather. hello again, over the next couple of daysis hello again, over the next couple of days is going to feel cold as we pull in a strong northerly wind. that's certainly the case today, driving in the showers across the north and east and the tops of the hills in eastern england it will be wintry but we will see when train is getting down to lower levels in scotland and at the same time we have rain coming in across wales, the midlands and into southern england. some of that will be heavy and thundery. in between, some

bright sunny skies but feeling cold in the wind. through this evening and overnight, the way players from south and will be clear skies and temperatures are going to fall away in the highlands as low as —5 —6 we are looking at a widespread frost and the risk of ice and wintry services where we will see the daytime showers. tomorrow we start with a lot of sunshine, so some wintry showers coming in across northern scotland, strong winds still but they will ease through the course of the day and more cloud bubbling up and spreading out through the day as well and we have a weather front coming in through the isles of scilly introducing rain. these are our temperatures — 6-12 , but rain. these are our temperatures — 6—12 , but still feeling cold, especially if you're exposed to that wind. then as we move into wednesday, here is a weather front close to the south—west. it's been prevented moving too far inland by this area of high pressure. during the course of wednesday, for england and wales and northern ireland, a lot of cloud to start with — one or

two showers peppering the north of england and more cloud developing across scotland with showers getting at the south through the day with the far north hanging on to some dry conditions, with sunny intervals and not feeling as cold because the wind will not be as strong. then as we head into thursday, we start pulling in a south—westerly wind from the south—west and as you can see from the yellows and ambers, that's a minor direction for us but still cold across the far north of scotland where there will be sunshine and wintry showers for a time. this could change but it looks like we would have rain to the central swathe of the country and rain across the south, but both these bands will be in different positions by the time we get a thursday, 7—15 at the temperatures in the south which are slowly starting to climb. as we head into the latter part of the weekend and week we will find the temperatures will continue to climb and eventually the weather becomes more settled.
