1:31 pm
we have some slow—moving thunderstorms to look out for but i thought i'd show this picture, it came in land in manchester and today, we have lots of thunderclouds. the big problem with today's storm this there's not much wind to move them along so they are very slow moving storms and we could see 20—50 millimetres of rain in a few hours bringing the threat of flash flooding. a high chance of seeing thunderstorms across the heart of the pennines, pretty bad for some of the cities in west yorkshire and south yorkshire. could see some flooding here. lots of showers and thunderstorms around greater manchester, wales, the midlands and a few drapes around the coastline of east anglia and the south downs and london area, so loads of showers today, risk of some localised flash flooding from those big storms. overnight clouding coaches from the north sea and with that will see temperatures holding up that will see temperatures holding up at around 6—8 c. tomorrow, a completely different feel to the weather. certainly across eastern areas we'll have a lot of cloud coming in and this weather front

will bring the thickest cloud threatening outbreaks of rain across eastern and central areas of england, so let's take a look at that. a cloudy day coming up tomorrow with rain spreading to east anglia, across the south midlands, central southern england and the south—east. often the rain will be light and patchy. across the west a different story, some sunshine coming through for scotland, northern ireland, wales and western areas of england and in the sunshine feeling warm with temperatures into the high teens. eastern areas feeling a lot cooler than the last few days with temperatures around 13-14 c. aren't few days with temperatures around 13—14 c. aren't into the weekend high pressure to start off with gives us a fine start to things on saturday. plenty of dry weather. early morning melting cloud —— early morning cloud melting away to give some sunshine, temperatures up to 22 in both scotland and northern ireland as well but for most of us are pretty decent weather to start the weekend. on sunday, a weather front moves down from the north—west bringing thick cloud, outbreaks of rain on the way. that's how the

weather is looking but before we go we'll take a look at what's going on in the southern bay of bengal, where we've got cyclonic storm mocha heading towards the border region of bangladesh and myanmar. this could be a very, very dangerous storm indeed because this storm system certainly in harms way is the rohingya refugee camps where we've got hundreds of thousands of refugees. we talk about damaging gusts of wind, flooding rain and storm surge on the way, so we are keeping a close eye on this storm for obvious reasons. a reminder of our top story... interest rates are raised by the bank of england to 4.5% — their highest in 15 years — to try help curb rising prices. that's all from the bbc news at one. it's goodbye from me. on bbc one, we nowjoin the bbc*s news teams where you are. bye— bye.

being affected and you can e—mail. you can get in touch via whatsapp. hello, i'm betty glover, live from the bbc sport centre. coming up on the programme: inter take a big step towards the champions league final in what could be a big european week for italian clubs. it's a big one too for west ham as they look to reach their first european final for nearly half a century. and elswhere there's an apology from the organisers of the madrid open. good afternoon, the big week of european football semifinals continues later with the final four going head to head in both the europa league and the europa conference league. we'll talk more about those in a moment, but first, we're a little closer to knowing who might face either manchester city or real madrid in the final of the champions league after two of the biggest rivals

in continental football, ac milan and inter, came up against each other last night. it was an incredible atmosphere at the san siro as inter took the lead inside ten minutes through edin dzeko. and just a few moments later, they could hardly believe their luck as former manchester united and arsenal midfielder henrikh mkhitaryan made it two. that's how it finished. so inter the firm favourites ahead of next week's second leg. translation: played an extraordinary. i thought the result was a bit short of what we've seen in the first half. we did well in the second half. the players did very well. translation: i know my team and i know my players

and i know _ i know my team and i know my players and i know we can do better i know inter_ and i know we can do better i know inter is _ and i know we can do better i know inter is a _ and i know we can do better i know inter is a very strong team and it is clearly— inter is a very strong team and it is clearly the last chance to advance _ is clearly the last chance to advance to the final. we need to score _ advance to the final. we need to score goals to pass this stage. so milan have it all to do to make the fina, nicky bandini is an italian footballjournalist. i really think it was a very deliberate strategy in the scheme to go straight for the jugular because really the atmosphere was so loud and so intimidating at san siro last night and it is also the home ground of inter and you can imagine if you puncture that and managed to burst the bubble and take an out of the stadium, that is what happened. d0 stadium, that is what happened. do you think inter wish they had put the tie to bed and scored more goals? your mac i think there will

be some regret for inter in the way it was so overwhelming for long stretches do not have made the most of it and even the penalty and you could say martin as goes down easily one where another and the sea not better to get a shot off? there were —— is he not better. i think they would have said even at three or four nil it is not over yet but three goals would have tested it with as you see in the last round with as you see in the last round with inter they went to nil up against benfica and it ended up being a draw at three goals each and this still got through and they got win of five goals to three on aggregate but they are not invulnerable and perhaps of milan find a way to start as inter in the second leg we could see something. this could be a good season for italian football where we have two teams in the champions league and two in the europa league and one in

the europa conference league. is this an italian football revival? i this an italian football revival? i think it is temper expectations. you could call this a start of a better period in italian football and the mark of things improving in italian football. the best team in italy is not in those five teams, napoli who have won the league at a canter and blew liverpool away but got knocked out by milan. i think you can point to virtuous and well—run clubs like napoli and milan were learning to make the best of what they can without being the biggest in europe. i think there's some really good progress being made by some of the biggest and ultimately most important clubs for raising the

standard of serie a but you're also seeing the of money. you will not be able to click your fingers and compete but i definitely think this is not a flash in the pan and i think the big clubs in italy are more or less of finding themselves on a better footing at the moment and when that happens and you get more competitive at domestically you get more competitive internationally. so three more italian teams in semifinal action this evening, starting with the europa league semifinals. juventus will aim to overcome europa league specialists sevilla, whilst last year's europa conference league winners roma welcome bayer leverkusen. also tonight, west ham can move a step closer

to their first bit of silverware since 1980 as they take on dutch side, az alkmaar, in the first leg of their europa conference league semifinal. their premier league survival looks a little more assured after david moyes* side picked up a massive win, over manchester united on sunday to move them, seven points above the relegation zone, with three games to play. can they end a four—decade wait for a trophy, with success in europe? what we have done in europe last season and getting to the final and the teams we had to beat we honestly lost to the winners of the competition in eintracht frankfurt and i think this year again we see as being more difficult and i think that she has been an amazing achievement and it is seen as a lower competition but i think still to be at this stage is great for us and i said before you can take european football for granted because every year there are so many teams in the premier league trying to get to that position. it would just be a
